  1. That's awesome that your dentist took the time to call and put it in your file. I've discussed products at length with my dentist and they've called all their manufacturuers and the only thing questionable that we've ever come up with is the baking soda pressure wash stuff they use for cleanings. The issue was not necessarily that it had gluten as an ingredient...
  2. dj, have you had your thyroid checked? I associate abnormal bleeding more with thyroid issues than celiac.
  3. I think they are two different products but both contain some form of soy. One is the Cheetah Berry and the other is the Pengiun Fruity Burst. Open Original Shared Link
  4. You should never leave a physician's office in tears (or cry when you get home). Please think about finding a new one with a little more compassion.
  5. I am really please with Freeda and Kirkman Labs brands. Many people here trust those brands as well.
  6. Welcome Gary. There is no correct answer to your question. I would not discount it as cya though. It really depends on how sensitive you are, what the product is, what else is made in the facility and the processes used by that manufacturer. Some people can consume products packed on the same equipment and others can't. Some can use products made by one company...
  7. How about tapioca, sorghum, corn, buckwheat, amaranth, arrowroot, coconut, and quinoa? You might have to experiment a bit to get the right combo for the recipe. BTW - Chebe bread mix is rice and nut free.
  8. I have a small commercial machine and I have to take the wand apart to completely sanitize it. The wands on the machines at Starbucks are very similar and I can't imagine they could do that during the day because it's pretty time consuming and you have to scrub the pieces to get the gunk off that collects between the parts. The pipe stays pretty clean if...
  9. I would not. I am also in the same boat as ravenwoodglass. I am not impressed with their statement and am not convinced they fully understand.
  10. My skin goes nuts when it comes in contact with wheat. If it's shampoo I get a really bad itchy poision-ivy like rash on my scalp. If it's hand soap my skin gets really dry and flaky. I have very fine hair and use Garnier.
  11. I haven't eaten there but have read good things about this place: Open Original Shared Link
  12. Open Original Shared Link pasta is rice-free. Open Original Shared Linkmakes corn flakes. Envirokidz Gorilla Much and Peanut Butter Panda Puffs are rice free. Hemp Milk is an awesome rice-free dairy alternative. Bette Hagman's Gluten-Free Gourmet Bread cookbook has quite a few recipes that are egg-free and are either rice free or can be made with other...
  13. Here's what Emily Post has to say about the situation: Open Original Shared Link I think you are right that only the people expressly listed are invited - especially if it's a sit-down or anything with table assignments.
  14. This might be worth a trip to the doctor. It could be gluten exposure but it could also be completely unrelated and could indicate a more serious problem.
  15. Per the Open Original Shared Link website the ingredients of french fries are: Potato, Canola Oil & Sunflower Oil, Dextrose, Mineral Salt (450), Antioxidant (320). OR Potato, Canola Oil Blend, Antioxidant (320), Food Acid (330), Antifoam (900a), Dextrose. Note: French Fries are cooked in canola oil blend, salt added. Link to Ingredient statment...
  16. Rice Dream is formulated with a barley enzyme and has enough gluten in it to cause problems for many celiacs. The label used to state that it contained 20ppm gluten but that has recently been changed to gluten-free (presumably because of pending legislation here in the US defining gluten-free as 20ppm or less) but the formula has not changed. There are...
  17. I also had a lot of family recipes to fix. I've never found a single all-purpose gluten-free flour that works for every recipe. For gluten-free recipes sure but when trying to fix old recipes I've found that I just have to play around and experiment until I find the right combination that produces the flavor you are looking for. Wheat flour has a very...
  18. Ingles is awesome! I do my weekly shopping there. I recently saw a gluten-free section in their local sale circular that took up half a page. They also have a registered dietician, Leah, who has personally responded to my emails regarding the status of several of their store products. Here's the Open Original Shared Link where you can download the...
  19. Check into the PillCam and discuss that with your doctor/insurance.
  20. BTW - Here's the answer for the original question of How much gluten is in whole wheat bread. You may have to do some math though https://www.celiac.com/articles/1095/1/Rese...ents/Page1.html
  21. Hi Melissa, So I think from your post that you are just figuring out that your son may have gluten issues. Is your son in the process of being formally tested and diagnosed? If so, then wheat bread might be the best thing to feed him until his testing is complete. If your instinct turns out to be true you'll find plenty of great info and support here...
  22. I'd say 3 months to 2 years is pretty accurate. It took about 18 months before I felt great every day. It really helped me the first year to ask myself do you feel better this month than last month? And now I ask that in years. So, it does take a while but your doctor is right that you'll see some pretty dramatic changes in the first few months. Best...
  23. It appears to be nothing more than a vitamin supplement. I suspect you can get better results from a good multi-vitamin and at $22 a bottle (it looks like a bottle might only be a 10 day supply?) a multi-vitamin will certainly be much cheaper.
  24. The top 8 are: Peanuts Soybeans Milk Eggs Fish Crustacea (shellfish) Tree nuts Wheat
  25. Here's the FAQ from lean cuisine. I would assume none of the Open Original Shared Linkare gluten-free. They may have some that don't contain gluten ingredients but they are likely cross contaminated. Q. Looking for LEAN CUISINE
