ARCHIVED Cheesecake Factory Spinach Dip
MaryJones2 replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I don't think any of the Godiva products are considered gluten-free. Their allergy statement is: ALL of our products including solid chocolate pieces may contain gluten. Any person with a gluten allergy should NOT consume ANY of our products. Open Original Shared Link Since the Cheesecake Factory doesn't have a gluten-free menu I don't know... -

I like Stott Pilates too. They have quite a few DVDs and several levels of difficulty. If you've never done pilates I'd recommend starting with level 1 so you learn proper form. You'll only need the level 1 DVD for a week or two so you might consider renting it. When I traveled Open Original Shared LinkDenise Austin was my standard workout. It only...

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Have Any Suggestions?
MaryJones2 replied to Sesheta's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Bruising can be caused by other vitamin deficiencies like C. Do you take a multivitamin? If not, you might try one and see if the bruising gets better. -
On The Border has a gluten-free menu but their CC statement isn't the best: Open Original Shared Link. I think Don Pablo's also has a gluten free menu. If you can post your location I'm sure someone can come up with a local option.

ARCHIVED Can Someone Help Me Find A Substitute For Soy Sauce?
MaryJones2 replied to MLB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have been searching for something for several years now and haven't come up with an acceptable substitute. There are a few recipes floating around using vinegar but it's just not the same - especially with sushi! I am anxiously awaiting replies too! -

ARCHIVED Celiac And Irregular Menstrual Cycles
MaryJones2 replied to MissDigital's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Anemia and thyroid problems can both cause menstrual irregularities. If I read your post correctly you said you have, or had, problems with both? Do you know if you doctor checked your iron and thyroid? -
Oh gosh, the grain - mg thing gets me. If I remember from the message the highest dose currently available is 1 grain but I don't know the mg equivalent. I use a small pharmacy and they are always willing to recalculate the dose but I'm not sure if the larger chains will do that. I used to take 1 pill twice a day and now I take 2 pills each dose. Sorry I...

ARCHIVED Mc Donalds Ff
MaryJones2 replied to bear6954's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't eat them for non-celiac reasons and completely agree that it's a personal choice. You can read and decide. I think the individual store environment is the greater concern. I've had a little bit of a problem for a couple of months now but can still get it. If you call Forrest's number you can get the formal recording covering everything but basically the higher doeses are not being made until later this year. The lower doeses are still available. The last time I had to call around to find it and I got all kind of stories from...

ARCHIVED Costco
MaryJones2 replied to SAHM2one's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I buy so much stuff at Costco! I live 14 miles from a grocery store so I buy a lot of stuff in bulk because I just don't have time to "run out" all the time. Not all stores carry the same items but here's what I get at my local Costco (Kirkland brand unless otherwise specified): McCormick spices, raw nuts, frozen tuna, salmon and beef, eggs, sugar, rice... -
ARCHIVED Need Ancho Chili Powder, Bought Some Dried Chilis
MaryJones2 replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
McCormick makes ancho but I don't see it in every store. I usually coarsely chop them but I'm sure you could use a coffee grinder if you wanted a powder. If you cook it long enough I doubt you'll be able to see a difference. I also use the seeds - it makes it hotter! -

ARCHIVED Celiac & Long Term Nexium Use
MaryJones2 replied to lesleyag's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Another side-effect of long term use of proton-pump inhibitors is anemia. A lot of people find that apple cider vinegar works wonders for reflux. -
ARCHIVED How To Handle A Trip To The Salon?
MaryJones2 replied to ohsotired's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a contact allergy with wheat and don't really care to use any products with gluten so this is definitely a problem for me. My stylist happens to have celiac disease so she understands completely. I wash my hair before I leave the house and have them rinse it at the salon so they can cut it. Before I found this stylist I would just bring my own shampoo... -
Hi Ken, have you had your thyroid checked recently? Sometimes thyroid problems can cause sweating.

ARCHIVED New Meds: Thyroid, Progesterone, Dhea
MaryJones2 replied to Jenny (AZ via TX)'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Jenny. I'd recommend giving your doctor a call about this. I know from personal experience that it often takes a while to get the Thyroid med dosage right and would assume the other hormones are also the same way. Best of luck! -
ARCHIVED Mail-friendly Foods To Ship To Celiac Overseas (underway)
MaryJones2 replied to ilovemyceliac's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Shaina, Welcome! Open Original Shared Link and Open Original Shared Link both have many gluten-free options that might work for you. -
I have a contact allergy with wheat and shampoos, cosmetics, etc. with wheat in them cause this to happen to me. There are quite a few people with gluten intolerance and celiac who experience similar things too. If you have DH you have to injest gluten but if you have some kind of contact allergy then it's entirely possible.

ARCHIVED Dental Work & Products
MaryJones2 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So I know this has been discussed quite a bit here and I think the general consensus is that we should use pumice for cleaning but I don't think I've seen a firm answer as to whether there are any restorative dental products that contain gluten. I have to have some dental work tomorrow (crown and filling) and would like to know if anyone has come across... -
