ARCHIVED Ruby Tuesday's - Cincinati Location
MaryJones2 replied to Chalula88's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Is it this menu by chance? Open Original Shared Link If so I don't consider that a gluten-free menu - it's more of a well if you are gluten sensitive you can probably have this and be ok menu. IMHO, there is a huge difference between a restaurant that publishes an allergen menu/list (Chili's, Red Lobster) and a restaurant actually has a gluten free menu... -
ARCHIVED Who Makes Best Pizza Crust?
MaryJones2 replied to ScarlettsMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Premade - Joan's if you want a thick crust, Udi's if you want thin and cripsy. Chebe if you're making your own. -
It was the the North Little Rock Location and it was the entire staff. It took 3 people to even tell me they had a gluten free menu and two managers (or supervisor types) to say there was actually a gluten-free menu somewhere. The manager could never find their copy of the menu and had to print a copy off the computer and said then said they didn't have...

ARCHIVED Ruby Tuesday's - Cincinati Location
MaryJones2 replied to Chalula88's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I don't think Ruby Tuesday has a gluten free menu. They publish an allergen list like many restaurants but that doesn't mean they understand the concept of cross contamination or that they will truly work to accommodate gluten free customers or actually provide a gluten free meal (like some other chains). I avoid them for these reasons. Unfortunately,... -
Definitely worth discussing. I have serious ethical issues (or doubts I should say) with Monsanto - just not sure GMO is the way to go and I don't agree with all of their business practices. Was it the Food, Inc. documentary that discussed this in detail? I can't remember.

ARCHIVED Deboles Pasta
MaryJones2 replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am just not a fan and will eat it only under duress. The last few times I've purchased their product (in a pinch) the pasta looked like it had little tiny cracks in it and turned to complete mush 4 minutes into the cooking process. There is definitely something going on with their manufacturing process. -
ARCHIVED Any Good Gluten Free Brown Gravy Mixes?
MaryJones2 replied to ScarlettsMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Imagine Foods makes prepared brown gravy (beef, chicken and mushroom). -
ARCHIVED Walmart Products Remove The Gluten Free Label
MaryJones2 replied to Manboy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think several years ago Wal-Mart did remove their gluten free labels, however, the Great Value products now contain a label that says "Naturally Gluten Free" and most of their products contain a manufacturered on equipment that also processes statement so between the two you can make assumptions based on your own sensitivity. -
Imagine Foods makes gluten-free gravy. They list turkey and beef on their website but they also make a vegan mushroom gravy that is gluten-free too. I've used them several times and they are great.

ARCHIVED Costco's Kirkland Signature Unsalted Or Salted Butter
MaryJones2 replied to daisymae106's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My costco has 4 different Kirkland butters and another brand too - maybe the organic version doesn't have any additives. I agree with the others why would you need anything but cream and salt... -
ARCHIVED Ferritin Level Of 9 ?
MaryJones2 replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Funny, Chromagen was one of the few iron supplements that I could tolerate for a while but then they changed from a gel type coating to a hard pill and I couldn't tolerate them anymore...grrr. -
ARCHIVED How Much Tsh Fluctuation Is Normal?
MaryJones2 replied to munchkinette's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
munchkinette - check out www.stopthethyroidmaddness.com It's a pretty good resource. My HDL was the only thing that was high too. Everything else was low but it was so high it put me over the 200 threshhold. -
ARCHIVED Ferritin Level Of 9 ?
MaryJones2 replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here's a good link that explains the different tests and you can understand how some can be normal and others so grossly off: Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Ferritin Level Of 9 ?
MaryJones2 replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Roda, I'm a little surprised they didn't mention it BUT that being said doctors do not like to do iron injections or IV iron because they can be dangerous. Generally they put you on a very high dose supplement and check your iron levels every week to see if it goes up. When mine was so low they were checking it twice a week for 2 months. I think it took... -
ARCHIVED How Much Tsh Fluctuation Is Normal?
MaryJones2 replied to munchkinette's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My Endo is very good and I think his personal range is .5 - 2 - he doesn't rely on the lab range because the one he uses still thinks 5 is normal... I would find a good Endo - especially if you have hypo symptoms. GPs so often don't know enough to effectively treat it. You'll need a full thyroid panel test at some point too and an Endo will order... -
ARCHIVED Ferritin Level Of 9 ?
MaryJones2 replied to carecare's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your Ferritin is extremely low. I honestly can't believe 8 is the low normal in the range. Most responsible doctors like to see your ferritin above 80. You ferritin can be low while other parts of your iron panel reasonably normal - your hemogloblin can also be normal. Mine was 7 when I was first diagnosed with anemia and eventually celiac - in fact unexplained... -
ARCHIVED Burt's Bees No Longer gluten-free
MaryJones2 replied to GF.Mom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Carmex is gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Need gluten-free Brands Of Wild Rice
MaryJones2 replied to Joe0123's topic in Super Sensitive People
I've been using the organic Canadian wild rice from North Bay Trading Co for years. Pricey, but you might want to check them out: Open Original Shared Link Their products are marked gluten free but I have never asked about other crops that may be grown. I think they just grow rice. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Options In Charleston, Sc And Savannah, Ga
MaryJones2 replied to OkieGirl's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Also, I have eaten at the Pirate's House successfully but don't expect to get the warm fuzzies or special attention from the waitstaff. It's a cool landmark if you are in to the ghost thing and if you stick to the basics and don't ask for much you 'should' be OK. They do know what gluten is but the kitchen is pretty full of gluten so CC is always an issue... -
Several members of my family have it. I do not as of yet. I'm not sure if it's related to celiac or not. It's such a rare condition.

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Had A Problem With Swanson's Chicken Broth?
MaryJones2 replied to Heather Anne's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It could be the MSG in the broth. Many people are sensitive to msg - especially in the beginning. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Options In Charleston, Sc And Savannah, Ga
MaryJones2 replied to OkieGirl's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
In Savannah try Sapphire Grill, Blue Turtle Bistro or ChaBella for local restaurants. If you get in a bind and want a chain I think there is a Melting Pot and Bonefish Grill. I know there is a Five Guys downtown too. I haven't been to Charleston in a while so I don't have any recommendations. -
ARCHIVED Quaker Instant Oatmeal
MaryJones2 replied to Lisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I saw instant gluten-free oatmeal in the store the other day - I want to say it was made by GlutenFreeda. Might give that a shot. Something about Quaker's response has always made me a little uneasy but I think i've always been way more sensitive than you. I can only tolerate a small amount of gluten-free oats like once a month...
