  1. That is such a shame. They did such a good job and to just end it like that is really dissappointing - everybody in Atlanta went there so it had to be a sizable portion of their business. I really was looking forward to having one very soon and hoping that they would eventually convince corporate to do that at all Outbacks. I used to live about an hour...
  2. That really surprises me because Kraft has a policy to disclose gluten and other allergens on the label and it's been in place for quite a while - they voluntarily label all gluten sources and not just wheat. Their products seem to have a pretty good reputation. I would call again and speak to someone else - perhaps a supervisor and try to figure out exactly...
  3. I am a huge fan of Kirkman Labs hypoallergenic series: Open Original Shared Link
  4. As a side note, I noticed they also believe rice, corn and 'other' grains contain gluten
  5. I read somewhere the manager or owner that started the extended menu moved to a location in Florida a while back so I suspect that's why they changed the menu (I'm assuming Julie isn't there anymore either). That's a real shame - they had really awesome stuff on the menu. I was SO looking forward to having one when I was in ATL in August. It was my favorite...
  6. I think it depends on what kind of insurance you have. If it's a employer provided plan at a decent size company then no they can't drop you. If it's an individual policy then I'm not sure. I know a few years ago (4 or 5) when I was shopping for individual coverage celiac was an uninsurable condition. But, that was a few years ago and I'm not sure if...
  7. Like everyone else I'm skeptical. I think they are basically overpriced supplements. Last time I checked some of them contained oat bran and there is always a risk of CC when oats are involved. I never got the warm fuzzies that they cared about their products being gluten-free and I also don't like that they don't list the ingredients or actual nutritional...
  8. We play golf at Pajaro and fly out of Watsonville a lot - it's a good location and the beach is not crouded. I don't know of any gluten-free restaurants in that area - Pleasure Pizza on 41st in Capitola is probably the closest gluten-free pizza place unless there is one in Aptos.
  9. Are you staying in Monterey or Santa Cruz?
  10. Definitely have your thyroid tested. Also, you should consider seeing a psychiatrist and formally being diagnosed with ADD (it's actually a very structured qualification process for adults). If you have ADD stimulants calm you down not pep you up. In fact, most people with ADD, including myself, can take adderall, concerta, etc. and fall asleep because...
  11. I live here and had a recent thread with lost of gluten-free restaurants in the Santa Cruz area. Read this thread for viable local options: http://www.celiac.co...-in-santa-cruz/ Irish Heart mentioned a lot of chain restaurants in her post - there aren't any of those on this side of the mountains as they just aren't popular - you'll have to go to San...
  12. Have you had your thyroid checked? It is quite common to have thyroid issues with celiac and if you are eating that much and not gaining weight you could have hyperthyroidism or have some other condition that is preventing you from gaining weight.

    ARCHIVED Doctors

I can't even remember all of the horrible things doctors have said to me over the years. There are compassionate and educated doctors out there (a few but they do exist). You should try to find a new one because the one you are seeing is not doing you any favors... Where are you? Someone may be able to recommend a good doctor
  14. So it looks like they are actually going to start testing their products - hopefully their consistency will improve. I do find it odd that they are partnering with the NFCA as I thought the limits for the NFCA were 10ppm and not 20. Open Original Shared Link
  15. Like Peter said it's an old topic. Wish Bone now labels their dressings gluten-free.
  16. Online is probably your best bet. There is a service around here called taskrabbit and they'll do just about anything for a fee (including grocery shopping).
  17. I always do all gluten free too - I tell people to bring the alcohol and we'll do the rest. I don't serve much gluten-free pasta to guests (although I will do lasagna which I can do vegetarian too). I serve bread but am pretty careful about it because most people aren't always prepared for the taste so I'll do gluten-free croutons on a Caesar salad or chebe...
  18. Don't know much about failsafe - can you take magnesium? If so, try 200-400 mg per day and see if that helps.
  19. It's definitely not Kirkland branded and I've only seen it at the Costco's here in CA. I looked it up and it's called "Nature's Domain" and reading Jess's link and it looks like it is TOTW: Open Original Shared Link And I was going tomorrow to buy a bag!
  20. I've never been to Sandals but have had mostly good experiences at all-inclusive resorts but I usually stick to things that should be naturally gluten free - I don't pastas, bread, etc. I usually pack canned soup or instant noodles (Thai Kitchen), crackers, instant oatmeal (GlutenFreeda) in case I want a hot meal and can't get one. It seems it's always...
  21. Synthorid is gluten free. You should consider it a myth that any thyroid medication contains gluten until proven otherwise. About 80% of my endo's patients are celiac or gluten sensitive and he's never once mentioned that Synthorid contains gluten and has prescribed it to me when Armour isn't available. Many pharmacutial companies will not guarantee...
  22. Doesn't Costco sell Taste of the Wild? I can't remember if it's labeled under another name though.
  23. Many large hospitals have travel vaccination clinics that specialize in providing vaccinations for people traveling outside the country. They can tell you what you must have and what is recommended but not required - and I would think they could tell you if a medication is gluten free or not (or at least research it for you). The one I used was awesome...
  24. Actually you want my mother to do that for you - she makes awesome gluten-free fried okra! I grew it when I was in the south but don't think it will grow where I live now. I can't even really find it in the stores
