ARCHIVED Delta Airlines - gluten-free Meals Out Of Atlanta
MaryJones2 replied to MaryJones2's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Yeah it's always out of Atlanta never coming back! It's happened a dozen times over the past 2 years. I was on a 16 hour flight right after the reintroduced gluten-free meals and they didn't load it. Fortunately, I packed food. Haven't not had a meal in a few years so that's progress I suppose. I was completely surprised I got a positive response that... -
ARCHIVED Chebe Without Eggs Or Dairy?
MaryJones2 replied to Charlie's Girl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I used to make chebe with water all the time and it was ok. Never tried eggless though. Maybe one of these substitutes might work better than Ener-G. Open Original Shared Link (I read somewhere that flaxseed meal works too) -
ARCHIVED Delta Airlines - gluten-free Meals Out Of Atlanta
MaryJones2 posted a topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I've travelled on Delta many times where meals were served over the past two years. Every single time I am served Kellogg's Corn Flakes for the breakfast meal and wheat crackers and/or regular bread with the other gluten-free meals (dinner is always plain white rice and a plain chicken breast). All of the meals are wrapped in plastic and clearly marked... -
ARCHIVED Whats The Verdict On Utz Potato Chips?
MaryJones2 replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We don't have Utz in our area but I do eat Kettle Chips (the ones with few ingredients like sea salt or salt and pepper) all the time with no issues. If you react to Utz you might want to give them a try. -
ARCHIVED First Time Travelling Overnight & Flying
MaryJones2 replied to DesertGirl's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Anything under 100ml (3.4 oz) is OK as carry on provided it will all fit in a zip lock bag. I've been travelling a lot recently and can say they've gotten very strict about what is allowed. I've lost several items in the past two months that I've carried on for years. They are not just focusing on liquids anymore - they've expanded to lotions, gels, creams... -
Hi everyone - I'm going to Dubai for 3 weeks in January. All of my meals are catered so I'm working with the caterer but I would like to know if anyone has suggestions for restaurants and grocery stores?

Prescription Chromagen is gluten-free. OTC SlowFE is gluten-free and a lot of members use it.

I've taken Ambien for years - name brand and most, if not all, of the generic versions over the years and have never found one to have gluten.

ARCHIVED Rye Bread?
MaryJones2 replied to ggroth9's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Trader Joe's makes a gluten-free ryeless rye. That's the only one I can think of off the top of my head. -
My favorite is Scharr but you can only get some of the cool shapes in Europe. Their flat lasagne noodles work great. I eat Deboles now most of the time just because that's the only thing I can get in my rural area.

ARCHIVED Progresso Soup
MaryJones2 replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I eat the Creamy Mushroom all the time. I've eaten several of the others and haven't had any issues. I'd trust them. -
ARCHIVED November 11 Is Remembrance Day

Thank you for reminding me Peter about the poppy. I think you do so last year also. I'd forgotten about it -
Lexi I understand your frustration. I've been at this for years and my family still insists that it's not fair for everyone to have to eat gluten free on my birthday. So, for the first few years we had two cakes and I had to put up with children going "yuck gluten free stinks" and feeling sick because my gluten-free food really wasn't because there were...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Seasoning
MaryJones2 replied to MacieMay's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just use fresh herbs, vegetables and McCormick spices. Progresso makes a gluten-free Creamy Mushroom soup too. It's a little hard to find sometimes but most grocery store chains carry it at most of their locations. -
Here's an article in today's NYTimes about gluten-free Thanksgiving. There are some pretty decent looking recipes. Open Original Shared Link

I would have no concerns about sending something back that didn't come out on the special plates.

ARCHIVED Ft. Myers Fl, To Atlanta/jasper Ga, To Nashville Tn
MaryJones2 replied to johncm's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
So about 45 minutes south of Jasper there is the famous Roswell Outback steakhouse that serves gluten-free bloomin onions, coconut fried shrimp, mac and cheese, etc. so that's an option. Also in the same strip mall is Sugo which has a fantastic menu if you are looking for something a little more upscale. There are other places in Alpharetta too. Here is... -

ARCHIVED Hypothyroidism - Tsh 3.6
MaryJones2 replied to cincichick's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
cincichick, can you post a new topic and call it something like looking for a Dr. in or around Cincinnati who understands celiac and thyroid issues and see if anyone can make a recommendation? You'll get more responses that way. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Toiletries
MaryJones2 replied to Trymester's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ravenswood is correct. That being said I've never found a toothpaste with gluten but I've found many shampoos and face lotions with gluten. Hair products and cosmetics seem to be the most likely place you'll find it in the toiletries category. I use Garnier hair products, Secret deodorant and Ivory soap if that helps. Lots of people use Dove products... -
ARCHIVED Hypothyroidism - Tsh 3.6
MaryJones2 replied to cincichick's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You should absolutely get a second opinion. The more educated endocrinologists consider anything above a 3 unacceptable these days. The old standard was 5. Many phisicians and most labratories follow the old standard. Best of luck to you. This may help: Open Original Shared Link P.S. If you'll post your city I'm sure someone can recommend a...
