ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pasta Restaurant In Ellensburg, Wa
cyberprof posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I really lucked out coming back through Ellensburg yesterday. Though I expected to just have a salad with my daughter (non-gluten-free who was starving), I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a full list of pasta entrees, steak and chicken that could be ordered gluten-free with gluten-free penne. I had one of the best pasta dishes ever, and since... -

Hmmm...yeah I think all the dairy-free cheeses that I've seen have soy. Luckily son isn't soy intolerant (although I don't let him have any soy besides that in fake cheese and the small amounts in chocolate etc., due to soy's possible impact on male reproductive hormones).

ARCHIVED Please Help! Huge Weight Gain, Exhaustion... Endless Ailments
cyberprof replied to AshleyRay's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You might ask your doc for a sleep study. You could be sleeping but not getting rest due to apnea or due to narcolepsy. Narco symptoms can be different than the one that is normally associated with it (falling asleep at random moments). Narco is also autoimmune and there is some evidence that it is linked with celiac, but aside from that we all know that... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Toothpaste
cyberprof replied to theemurman1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is not true. I got Sensodyne Pronamel from my dentist (trying to help my sensitive teeth, another celiac symptom). So I called the number on the box and Glaxo said "Pronamel is gluten-free but is made on shared lines that are very well-cleaned. Other varieties of Sensodyne are not necessarily gluten-free." So I tried the Pronamel on Tuesday... -
I have been wanting to try the Romio's at 85th and Greenwood in Seattle, but hadn't got there yet. I received a flyer from Romio's in Redmond and was about to toss it when I spied the words "Gluten-Free Menu Options." My son got us two pizzas yesterday, one with dairy free cheese for him. They were great. Even my hubby (who is not gluten-free but...

My experience is similar to Gemini's. I had no perimenopause symptoms at 47 but BAM I was fully past menopause in about 3 months. Very strange. I was so unhealthy and exactly a year later I was diagnosed with celiac. I think I had celiac since I was 18 but it got so much worse between 46 and 48. I do agree with ravenwoodglass, though, that if you...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Spiral Ham At Costco
cyberprof posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I sent my husband to Costco to buy the ham and issued instructions like "Look on the label and then call Costco's help line to see if it's gluten free." He was excited to tell me that the label on the Kirkland Signature Spiral-Cut ham said "Gluten-free." It was great (we had dinner a day early with my in-laws)! It is too late for this Easter, but nice... -
ARCHIVED Extreme Pizza - Gluten Free Pizza And Salads
cyberprof replied to Smeech's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I emailed them and asked them to add gluten free options in Issaquah. If anyone else wants to email them, here's the address: contactus@extremepizza.com I'll have to keep them in mind when I vacation in California this summer. -

Wow! Which location did you go to? There is one by me that I went to about two years ago and I had a salad. I'll have to check it out. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Friesenburgers - Anyone Tried This Restaurant?
cyberprof replied to cyberprof's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
OK, I was in Tacoma last week for business and stopped at Friesenburgers and it was great. It's right off the exit right before you get to the Tacoma Dome and six blocks from downtown, so it's very convenient. I had the gluten-free mini-Friesenburger with bacon and cheese...it was HUGE! They also put an egg on it, which was OK but I'll leave that off... -

I remember you too, Julie. Welcome back! I hope you feel great soon! Feeling good is the best revenge...or something like that! ~Laura -
Hi Kim, I have almost the same story. Gained 20 pounds right before diagnosis and gained 10 more after that when I went gluten-free. My reasons is similar to others...eating what I like and can have, somewhat because I am deprived of what I really wanted (gluten). Although that is getting better. Also, I went through a very quick menopause right before...

ARCHIVED Crazy? Or Actually Gluten Intolerant?
cyberprof replied to LAdams's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
LAdams, I totally agree with everything Tiffany (and on edit Ravenwoodglass) says. I have had the reactive hypoglycemia since I was a teenager, although a bit milder than you. I've learned to always keep food around (Lara bars are good) and my hubby has learned not to "deny" me meals when travelling! I also had the "heartbeat" in stomach and I've always... -

That's good that the doc is checking for you. My story may or may not help you but I've been meaning to post an update. When my son was 15 and was not in puberty I was worried. His bone scan showed an age of 12. The blood test was negative for celiac and my DH nixed the endoscopy. The docs concluded that he likely wasn't celiac and said "Maybe he'll just... -
ARCHIVED Friesenburgers - Anyone Tried This Restaurant?
cyberprof replied to cyberprof's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hmm...We just drove through Clearview to get hay last weekend. Would never have known about Mondo's. Well, I don't get to Tacoma very often, except when travelling south or on business, but next time I do, I'm going to stop and get a bacon cheeseburger- off my diet for sure! ~Laura -
ARCHIVED Friesenburgers - Anyone Tried This Restaurant?
cyberprof posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
An advertisement for Friesenburgers Restaurant appeared at the bottom of this site for me (the "smart" forum knows that I'm near Seattle, I guess). They advertise gluten free burgers with tapica buns (maybe Ener-G) and safe eating. I don't get to Tacoma very often but have wished for a real burger (like I used to get at Kidd Valley or Dick's)...having one... -
ARCHIVED Bone Marrow Biopsy Friday
cyberprof replied to luvdogz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm so happy for you that your BMB was clear and you don't have MGUS or worse. Regarding the celiac tests: Medical science isn't that perfect and celiac seems to be an area where docs don't know too much and the tests aren't perfect either. In my opinion you should ignore a doc that tells you to eat wheat/gluten if you have evidence from your own response... -
ARCHIVED Could I Return To Having Wheat After Having A Baby?
cyberprof replied to Liveenjoylife's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Actually, celiac messed up my hormones and put me into menopause a few years early. Your hormones hopefully won't be damaged by eating wheat again. However, there is no chance that true "celiac" will go away ever. Liveenjoylife I hope you feel better. Same here. I had symptoms from age 18 to 48 and ignored them, thought that everyone... -
ARCHIVED My Son's Enterolab Results Are Here
cyberprof replied to brigala's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Elizabeth, My son went gluten-free and CF at the same time in 2008 (he was 14-1/2). He had noticed a dairy problem and the symptoms helped him see cause-effect, so that may or may not help your son. Now my son has gluten effects too, which he didn't at first. I bake only CF now and 99.9% of the meals I cook are CF (all are gluten-free). I add sprinkles... -
ARCHIVED Just Need To Vent... To Those Who Understand!
cyberprof replied to lvtelleria's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
M, you have been through the wringer. I hate it when docs don't know the answer, so instead of saying that they say it's in your head...and they mostly say that to women! As you can see from my signature, it's possible to be celiac and have negative blood work. It's also possible to have celiac and have a negative endoscopy/biopsy. Since you feel... -

I have served this recipie lots of times. It has eggs, asparagus, bell peppers, zuchini. Open Original Shared Link You can add feta cheese (if you're adventurous) or other cheese. (Read the reader reviews.) For Christmas, I use red bell peppers so you have the Red and Green colors. Or I make a Farmers' Casserole, like Hannah says. Hash browns... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Flour For A Roux?
cyberprof replied to LisaaaNoel's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi, I make roux all the time. For gravy, soups, etc. I use sweet rice flour. You can get it in the Asian section of some supermarkets... off the top of my head the brand is Micheko. (I'm not home right now.) Regular rice flour is too gritty for me. For mexican foods or curries I use garbanzo bean flour. It is more substantial but you wouldn't want... -
ARCHIVED Bone Marrow Biopsy Friday
cyberprof replied to luvdogz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Luvdogs, you've probably left for the appointment but I wanted to send you good wishes. My DH was diagnosed with MGUS when he was only 43 and now has progressed a bit, but still below the full Myeloma diagnosis...sort of in limbo. And to the other posters, he has had a high monoclonal protein spike for years, that's the diagnosis of MGUS as a precursor... -
I was going to suggest this to, although I personally have not tried it. I wanted to mention that when I was diagnosed I had tons of pain daily. Went through about $5,000 worth of tests. The pain slowly went away and what I realized later was that I was still geting gluten (through errors and lack of knowledge) and when I cut out all potential sources...
