  1. Oh! I forgot about Lee Child, who doesn't love Reacher?
  2. Wow.... this post looks so lonely......
  3. You're right, that was a fabulous analogy. I came up with a good one a while ago too, of course I've forgotten it by now.....
  4. My best suggestion is KEEP YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR FACE. I actually have to work WITH gluten ( I do a breakfast buffet) but I 1) always wear gloves when touching it, if possible and 2) never bring food that requires me to touch my food. You really need to do whatever it takes to keep your hands away from your face and hair. Shellack your hair with hairspray...
  5. Ok, it's official, we have to call it 'glutenation' from now on, no more being 'glutened'. It's sounds so much more impressive to have been 'glutenated'. Like the Glutenator- hopefully he won't be back!
  6. Didn't somebody call it 'spit-boxing' at the beginning of the thread? He was so annoying.... The only interesting thing he did was with Bon Jovi. I felt the same way last year when Melinda was voted off in favor of that little twit Blake. Hello? Has everyone in America had their good taste ripped bodily away? WHAT is so appealing about that guy? I did...
  7. DEan Koontz will occasionally surprise me with something quite graphic. I actually feel like he gets better with age, Larry, I enjoy a lot of his newer books even more than the older stuff. Of course, I think (like everyone else) Watchers will always be my favorite.
  8. I think I would try freezing the dough, thaw, top, and bake. OR bake, freeze, top, reheat without thawing. Maybe I'll try both ways................
  9. I would guess also that since your digesion has improved and your cholesterol numbers are optimal, then maybe the lipitor is causing other problems. You, know, like it doesn't have anything to do so is causing mischief? I have found myself more sensitive than before to a lot of things, most especially caffeine and alcohol. I used to be able to drink all night...
  10. I used EL choc chips to make a chocolate dip for fruit, like strawberries, that's intended to get hard. For a whole bag of chips, stir in two tbps shortening when melted. This made THE best cho covered strawberries ever. Better than godiva. I used palm shortening.
  11. I'm a Dean Koontz freak. I love Watchers, One Door away from heaven, From the corner of his eye, the Odd Thomas books, the Frankenstein books, The good guy, Midnight, Fear nothing, Sieze the Night, lots of others..... One good Stephen King book ( I don't always like him) is From a Buick 8. I like Nora Roberts, I'll admit it. She's a fabulous storyteller...
  12. I just wanted to add a little note to all the women that enjoy hiking and biking and running on secluded trails-please bring something with which to defend yourself. And a cell phone. Women exercising are one of the best targets out there, they're alone, they're weaponless, and they're distracted by both what they're doing and usually earphones. Please keep...
  13. I use Dagoba & Trader Joe's, one of them says gluten free right on the label but I can't remember which one.
  14. Yeah, that's what I meant, kasha, thank you. Where do you get amaranth & such whole? I found my kasha in the jewish section of the international aisle at the grocery.
  15. Is buckwheat a nightshade? If not, get some buckwheat groats and use it for hot cereal. I enjoy it far more than rice or corn or quinoa for hot cereal, I actually enjoy it even more than I used to like oatmeal. And you can play with it too, you can add maple syrup or cinnamon and raisins or honey and walnuts or whatever. It does need a bit of sweetening,...
  16. Honestly, it sounds like you have a thyroid issue. I'd see a naturopath about that.
  17. Ummm... I joined a class and then I felt guilty when I didn't show up. That kinda helped. I'd rather walk around my neighborhood or ride my bike now that the weather's more permitting though.
  18. Hence the shower suggestion. I'm too much of a klutz to trust myself with one of those thing with CLOTHES on.... You don't actually even need to buy a neti pot, they're kinda expensive. I bought one of those huge-normous 1-ounce syringes you use to do meat with? Don't use the metal needle and just use the plastic part to squirt the stuff up your nose....
  19. It would seem that the basic consensus is: Get the hell out of there.
  20. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
  21. Actually, my mother bought Erewhon gluten free rice krispy cereal and crunched that up for the coating on some fried chicken, it was AWESOME. Can't help you with the cheese, I'm not dairy free. You might try the cashew 'parmesan' cheese, not really a good idea to go crazy with the soy right now.
  22. when I know I'm going to use them soon enough to no thave to freeze them, I just throw the bags themselve sinto a ginormous locknlock to keep the moth weevils out.
  23. It's always good to hold onto the yolk, that's where all the vitamins are, so you don't want to lose that part. I found at least four dessert recipes on Allrecipes for egg yolks, and you could also go crazy with the hollandaise, which they also have recipes for in the blender! And of course, you could put it into some other scrambled eggs. I'd probably try...
  24. It's hard to be sure when you've just gone gluten free to know what to blame certain things on. It probably is best for you to eliminate dairy for about a month, then try again and see if you get that same pain. A lot of people are lactose intolerant for a time while healing.
  25. Apparently, that squirrel hates you. We had a squirrel come on our house once when I was a kid, I don't know HOW it got in there, but our dog was USELESS. She played with it! The bloody thing was terrified, of course, here's this big dog, and all the dog wanted to do was play. We couldn't get the thing out for like, six hours. Oy. And then there was...
