  1. Quinoa is actually easy if you have a crockpot, I prefer it in a sweet preparation. I'll cook it with cinnamon, sliced apples and a bit of honey, I don't usually like it in savory preparations. Pecans would probably go good with it. I recently found a 4lb bag of organic quinoa from Earthy Choice at Costco for 9$!!!!! Whoohoo!
  2. You're yelling in the wrong section.
  3. I've been thinking about this all night, and I still got nothin.
  4. Yes, I hadn't really thought of 'I can smell your peanut butter lies' as a euphemism, thus far we have been using it in context, but I can see the confusion. I WOULD LIKE TO USE 'MAN THE COOLER' AS MY HUSBAND AND I'S CODE PHRASE FOR SEX. That better?
  5. By 'our' I meant me and hubby, not a board euphemism.
  6. Oh for the love of Pete, if you can't go off-topic in the CHAT room, where can you??? That's it, I'm talking about immigration.
  7. I quite like 'man the cooler' as a clever euphemism. We may have to change our code phrase.... I have an older sister, it's never worked out very well. Prospective adopters can be my momma, I don't care if you're younger than me.....
  8. I'm Polish, I don't think any culture has a lock on hump-sitting adventures!
  9. Well, I already have like 3 mamas and I don't know how many grammas but there's plenty of me to go around. I was always on cooler duty too! I had to train hubby- If I'm driving, you have to retrieve and present the food. Took some time, but we have it down now...
  10. I thought you meant having to go potty in the backseat on road trips and getting food out of the cooler... what else? (Also, you might try palm oil shortening next time you have to bake dairy free, it tastes good.)<--(whisper)
  11. But what if I don't eat ham? (She says in a small sad voice....)
  12. Oooo good idea.
  13. Phyller, try reading a few articles about the properties of dietary fat, it's role in weight loss, and how it is necessary for the digestion of a number of vital nutrients. I convinced my mother to quit living on salad and chicken and she dropped twenty pounds in one year with no other changes. An article about Weston Price, a dentist who traveled the...
  14. What's your recipe for split pea soup? Do you get dry peas? And do you think turkey bacon would be a sufficient sub for ham? Maybe brined chicken?
  15. You can keep flax alive longer in the freezer, yes. I think you'd be better off with the psyllium and chia though. Better tasting, last longer, and chia is one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. There are stories of ancient armies being sustained by salba (chia) alone during famine. No idea how true that is, but most legends have some basis in fact...
  16. I do have gluten-free graham crackers, from Kinnikinnik, called s'moreables. They do taste just like graham crackers, and are just a bit more tender, not as crunchy. I was thinking of doing the crust, then melting some of the mint chocolates and drizzling that over the crust, freeze it, then bake the whole thing. Think that would keep the crust from burning...
  17. Now I kinda do... eh, not really.
  18. Like I need another excuse to eat bacon. Yay....
  19. Yup! You got a stalker....
  20. You'll get used to the pasta, it has a particular look to it when it's done, I don't even need to taste test it anymore. It gets kinda clear and a little floppy when it's done just right. Well, for my taste anyway. Tonight's dinner will be spaghetti squash and sausage with fried onions and garlic in olive oil, and maybe tomato sauce, maybe not.....
  21. Post link to forum....
  22. I just laughed out loud all alone in my house. I get gas from any eggs if I eat them straight, but not when baked into something. I can't even stand myself if I do, I just don't eat eggs anymore. Adalaide, have you tried psyllium? And chia is really good to bake with, doesn't go rancid like flax will. If you're buying flax, it's usually better to buy...
  23. Oh, no, I would mix chopped pieces into the batter and then put them on top of the sour cream mix (which sounds like a good idea the way you describe it) an then they melt a bit and get runny, creating a kind of minty picasso presentation!
