  1. My lips used to shed, really bad, but not the inside of my mouth. I used to have to use a steroid cream to relieve the pain on my lips. All better now!
  2. If you're gonna do the chicken soup, add as much pepper as you can stand. The heat will clear your nose and it's somewhat anti-inflammatory as well. The nose rinse is a very good idea too, and if you can find a wild cherry bark extract, that should help a lot with your cough. It also tastes good. Hot tea with just lemon juice and honey in it should soothe...
  3. Ditto!
  4. Yeah, I'm a hotel concierge, so people just think I'm stupid. I wanna wear a sign that says 'I'm not stupid, really'.
  5. Yeah, I get retarded too. I'll try to think of a word like 'repeat' and just get a major brain fart. People get used to guessing what I mean, like with a deaf person almost.
  6. Ursa Major made a truly awesome black forest cake, search her name and black forest on the forum, you'll see what I mean.
  7. Nobody said Food For Life doesn't make gluten free food, they said that Ezekiel brand stuff is sprouted wheat & other grains, ergo, not gluten free. There is no "Ezekiel" gluten free stuff. If there is, by all means, I'd love to have sprouted rice bread.
  8. I know I definitely got glutened this week, we're still not sure from what. for some reason, my DH bumps travel every time I get them (It's been over a year) and this time they're on my ears. Yeah. My ears. And I wear glasses. fortunately the headache and diarrhea has passed, it wasn't a bad glutening. I react proportionately, most people are apparently all...
  9. Actually, if you take 1 package of cream cheese and whip it together with 10+ oz of fluff or Ricemellow creme, it's REALLY good! Much lower sugar cream cheese frosting. I put it on chocolate cake and vanilla cake, both were great.
  10. colette, seriously, order the bag online. They're the best choclate chips I ever had. My boyfriend just eats them by the handful and they melt so well and since they're little they're really good to bake with without having them sink and.... Yeah, just get em.
  11. I realize this post is a little late, but even your mixer could be a source of contamination. The loaf of bread from the store was definitely the way to go, that's really neat that you did this for them.
  12. DS- dear son DD- dear daughter DH- dear husband Just some wierd internet lingo some people use for family members. It confused me at first too, a lot of people use it with newbies who have no clue what's going on, but you can usually figure it out in context.
  13. Dude, you get sick when you eat gluten. you get better when you don't. What more proof do you need that you're gluten intolerant? Where's the mystery here?
  14. Especially if you're not using yeast, the mixer can help beat in some air for fluff factor.
  15. Not necessarily, share the recipe and we might have some ideas on how to adapt it.
  16. I wish I had a cute young dentist. Y'know, I had all 4 wisdom teeth out with full anesthesia and they had to cut to get them and everything, and yeah, it hurt. But it didn't hurt as bad as what you're describing sounds like. I think you'll feel better, at least after a day or two, once this is done. Don't forget your probitoics, with all these antibiotics...
  17. I'm lazy, so I do baked mac & cheese with a pound of dry pasta in lots of melted butter in a casserole dish, spices to taste, a CRAPLOAD of cheese shredded on top, and then pour milk over the whole thing til you can see it almost rise above the cheese, and bake at 350 for 45 min. My boyfriend always offer to shred the cheese (cuz it's a lot) if I'll make...
  18. AMQmom, here's a good guideline I stole from someone else's post on another thread: 1) You want four main types of flour in your mix-- Bodifiers-- Teff, Sorghum, Rice, bean flours, brown rice, quinoa, millet, amaranth, and cornmeal are a few options. These provide bulk and protein as well as the vitamins (if any, teff is a great source of vitamins). Modifiers...
  19. Oh, that would work, it's just really hard to keep track of. It's so easy to forget to clean the rack every time you use it. You could also put foil down and toast your gluten-free stuff on it.
  20. Really? I don't see, scientifically, how celiac blood could be harmful to anyone. Bone marrow is creating a whole new immune system, blood can't do that. I don't have an official diagnosis, so I never thought to ask. Maybe I should find out, I have been donating blood and probably should have found out first.
  21. You said you were eating a very plain diet, but does this include dairy? A lot of people are lactose intolerant for a time after starting the gluten free diet, and some get over it and some remain intolerant. If you're not really able to skip th edairy for now for whatever reason, try getting some lactase pills and take one every time you eat dairy, see if...
  22. See, I didn't even like that guy. I thought he was annoying and smug. It's amazing how much people's tastes can differ. And I did NOT agree that this is the most talented lineup of singers they've ever had. I believe that was last year. A lot of contestants last year didn't get enough credit just because they didn't fit the pop demographic.
  23. I personally agree with this. However, in such a litigious, backbiting society, a lot of medical establishments would not be willing to open themselves to lawsuit in this way.
  24. Wow, that was really helpful, thank you!
