  1. Sometimes people with gluten sensitivities also get food sensitivities to other things--like the nightshade family (tomatoes and peppers and potatoes) for instance. Mainly I think its due to leaky gut but who knows for sure. Bea
  2. Hi Chasbari, Too bad you can't get your wife to bake gluten-free for you instead--there are lots of excellent recipes out there. I would try to bend her on that one--maybe even investigate baking a few of the gluten-free goodies myself. Having gluten in the air (as in wheat flour etc.) where you live is awful. Afterward there is the whole tedious clean...

    Hooray for you!! Bea
  4. Congratulations! I am so happy for you! Its so wonderful to get back one's gifts one thought one lost! About the glutening from the cosmetics, there are gluten-free cosmetics out there. You can find some advertising on this site. Also I recently learned that ta king L-glutamine right away helps avert some of the worst symptoms of the glutening. It helps...
  5. My roomie has had similar issues--as I have too in the early stages especially. What we had to do was to figure out what our other food sensitivities were. You can't just get tested for this. You have to figure this out yourself. Go on a simple elimination diet. Make a food diary and notice when you get messed up. When one has celiac, it is very likely...
  6. My room mate also has celiac and has to take synthroid. He gets a generic type called Levothyroxin that seems to be safe for him. the Manufacturer is "Mylan." He specifically insists that his thyroid medicine must be gluten free. I don't know if its guaranteed or not, however he is sensitive and hasn't had any problems with this as of yet. Bea
  7. Sounds like you are on the path towards better health! Let us all know if you start feeling better--or not! Bea

I have reacted similarly with the insomnia and anxiety--as well as D. I also easily get ill with a bacterial infection or flu if CC'd. Whereas otherwise I now am much more resistant than I used to be. Hope you are avoiding sugar and processed foods. I found by going onto whole foods, reducing even the amount of grains and instead have more squash and...
  9. Its true, it could be just a case of mild hypoglycemia. Mine is less prominant now that I have been entirely gluten-free for 2 years. But I still often do better with a snack mid afternoon. For me my easy favorite is sunflower seeds and/or yogurt. Bea
  10. I agree its best if you can find a regular MD and take all those tests--though as we all know (or many of us do) AMA docs aren't all up on celiac or severe gluten intolerance. Many of them are in this regard quite ignorant. However if you already know that you can't handle the gluten (and may be way beyond the period of time when the tests won't do you...
  11. Good advice! Caffeine and sugar both give false energy and actually end up depleting your reserves. I also suggest you take olive leaf extract or leaf regularly (no alcohol however). It really can root out underlying cases of fibro--such as long term bacteria, parasites, viruses, microbes, fungi. Neem leaf can help too. First 2 to 3 days you might feel...
  12. Yes it is very common to have a congested liver with celiac. It makes sense if you think about it since the villi get axed and then undigested proteins go into your blood stream, the lymphatic system then reacts to these "forein invaders" with inflammation and downwind of which it all toxifies the liver. You can either juice or simply blend your veggies...

I do hope you stick to your guns. Its hard to believe gluten could be such a big deal,eh?! However just want to let you know that there are brands of alcohol out there that are gluten-free if that helps. There is a list on this site. You could also start making scrumptious gluten-free meals for you both, just don't make a big deal of it. If he wants to...

Did you find a brand you could tolerate? Its actually a big reason why I stopped seeing an ex boyfriend. He wouldn't change and I couldn't deal with it. I actually got very sick. Bea

I don't trust anything with alcohol in it, esp. when I can't find out what kind of alcohol they use. Its claimed to be gluten-free but is it?? It may be that the alcohol is safe for some but I for one can't even tolerate kissing someone who has drunk so called safe distilled whiskey.

Its probably fine if he simply washes his hands, face and beard and brushes and flosses his teeth. Has been at least for me. Make sure he rinses and does not use lysterine or some other equivalent (due to the alcohol)!
  17. Feeling tired all the time is indeed no fun. Unfortunatley many of us here have had those kinds of problems. I highly suggest taking olive leaf extract and/or tea regularly. It really works against things that cause chronic fatigue of whatever sort. It kills underlying bacterial, viral and yeast/fungal infections as well as a variety of microbes. You could...
  18. I totally agree with the above posters. For the last one, remember that the gluten-free goodies need to be made with gluten-free bakeware etc. with gluten-free spoons and mixers etc. as well as made with and handled by clean gluten-free hands and potlholders and not put right by glutenous items. Honestly its just best to bake/make etc. your own--whether...
  19. Natural flavorings by the way are usually alcohol based and thus not gluten free. Bea
  20. Welcome to the board! On the positive side, its really nice for someone to clearly know if they have celiac or not. You obviously do. Not everyone here does--even though they are still adversely affected by gluten. As far as Jiffy goes, I certainly would pass on that next time. Don't believe everything you read about a product. It could easily have what...
  21. If you choose to cook basic foods from scratch you will avoid getting glutened from the store. In other words buy: raw green vegetables, real (unprocessed) meat, raw root vegetables, raw fruit, whole brown rice in plastic bags. Its a whole lot better for you and way less expensive than prepackaged, sugary, starchy gluten free foods. If you want to...
  22. I had to give up being a vegetarian twice since it wrecked havoc with my health. It turned out I was too allergic to too many things, including all nuts and beans...!! so now I eat meat but still eat lots of vegetables. I also now have yogurt--but the home made 24 hour variety since that way it gets rid of all the lactose.
  23. I am wondering now if a quick use of a neti pot with salt in warm water to clean out the sinuses would help?? Have just read too taking L-glutamine is excellent against being glutened. Might be worth trying. Bea
  24. I didn't know L-Glultamine acted against glutenings--but it does make sense! I will try it next time something like that happens to me. Thank you! I used to take L-Glutamine regularly since it made me feel really good--last thing at night kind of thing. I read somewhere it had anti aging properties. Now looking at my books I see its good against auto immune...
  25. Hi Daisy, I think breathing in gluten dust takes longer to get rid of than eating it. At least it has for me. I am now loathe to do into certain restaurants if you get my drift as well as houses at certain holidays if there is a bunch of home baked goods if they aren't all gluten-free. It took me 3 weeks before I could function last year after Thanksgiving...
