  1. Gee going by their chart I guess I don't really have celiac. It must all be 'in my head'. Guess I should pull out my tackle box of drugs that I had to take prediagnosis and go have a big mac. Y'all will come to my funeral right......
  2. Or the arthritis is a symptom of celiac as it was in my case and will go into remission on the diet. With all due respect to Mayo they are not exactly knowledgeable about all aspects of celiac as can easily be seen on their 'matrix' for diagnosis and their exclusion of other celiac associated genes.
  3. I have to agree with Skylark. After reading that matrix I had to just kind of shake my head. My doctors thinking along the lines of that formula almost killed me. I don't show up in blood work and I have one of the odd ball celiac genes that are not taken into consideration. OP as soon as you are done with all testing you choose to have done then do the...
  4. Get the sublingual B12 and then get a seperate vitamin with high levels of all the B's. I use a 'stress' form with high level B's and vitamin C.
  5. How about keeping the gluten cookies in the package then sliding it into a plastic baggie. When you want one of your cookies first get the package and put it out for your company, then wash your hands and enjoy your gluten free treat.
  6. Can you try eating something that is soothing to your stomach? Maybe Cream of Buckwheat or Cream of Rice or perhaps some applesauce or even gluten-free crackers? That might help a bit. Do you eat soy or consume dairy? If you do have you tried cutting those out for a bit to see if it helps? Are you in the UK? I ask because I am aware that in some places in...
  7. Would 9 yrs 8 months count? LOL
  8. Nope. Never even seen one.....
  9. Suave, Dove and Garneir all will clearly label gluten ingredients. If you prefer organic Himalaya makes some great stuff and label their gluten free items and I think Giovanni and Shikai also label well. However if you are not strict with the diet it may be what is going into you not onto you that is contributing to the hair loss. Do your best to be strict...
  10. I like NOW brand and buy most of my vitamins from them. I find them in my local health food store.
  11. Alcohol is one of the worst things you can do for stomach pain. It may stop you from feeling the pain for a short time but it is a big stomach irritant. You are doing the right thing by dropping the alcohol for a while.
  12. Ask your doctor to write on the MRI request that the contrast needs to be gluten free. Usually the gluten free forms will be a thin liquid not the thick chalky stuff. For the stomach pain have you tried Pepto Bismal liquid? That usually helps if it is something you can take. It is possible for the D to take some time to show up. For myself it is 3 to...
  13. IMHO what is rare is that your doctor knew what it was. I had DH from about age 5 or 6. At that time my Mom was told I had 'poison ivy in my blood stream' which led to some really nasty shots every year for 10 years. In adulthood the diagnosis of my DH varied from contact dermatitis to pickers acne and lots of other labels that I don't remember. I went to...
  14. Have you taken care of all CC issues in your home? If not then you may be still getting some gluten injestion causing the continued pain. I also agree with the others that dropping dairy and soy for a bit may be a good idea. Once an organ is gone it is gone. It seems odd that all your husbands coworkers who have had a hysterectomy have been 'happy with...
  15. It sounds like your body is giving you a clear answer as to the question of you being able to eat gluten. You do really need to be on a regular gluten diet until the biopsy is done. If you are gluten free or gluten lite your biopsies will be negative. There is also a risk of a false negative on the biopsies even on gluten as the false negative rate is up...
  16. I am so sorry about your loss. It is a hard decision to make, as I know all too well. (((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
  17. I would definately call and find out what the malt extract is made of.
  18. Please don't let a doctor talk you into something that you know is going to hurt you. For one thing there is always the possibility that your negative blood tests were a false negative and gene tests can not firmly rule celiac in or out as there are more celiac associated genes found every day. If you have diagnosed celiacs in your family chances are you...
  19. How long ago was your blood test and did you see the actual results with the reference range? Sometimes a doctor will call a low positive a negative. If your blood tests were done a while ago it wouldn't hurt to tell your doctor you want them run again. That said some of us just don't show up on blood tests. Your reaction to dairy is pretty typical of someone...
  20. Being a 'little bit celiac' is like being a little bit pregnant. Yes it will progress if you continue to eat gluten. You need to be strict with the diet to make sure you are stopping the antibodies. As mentioned celiac is not an allergy it is an autoimmune disease and to stop the attack on your system you need to be strict. With skin lesions it is a good...
  21. My kitties wouldn't touch baby food well or sick. Hopefully the cooked chicken worked. Some will also find some cooked ground beef tasty. I don't usually get the real pricey little bitty cans of cat food for my kitties so when my kitty was ill last year some of those were appealing to her. Hopefully the doctors have figured out what is wrong by now and she...
  22. You mention being a huge dairy and cereal eater. I would drop the dairy completely for a while, yes I know that is going to be hard but you can add it back in later. Many of us can go back to dairy after we have healed. What are you eating for cereal? Many of us don't tolerate gluten free oats. Are the cereals you are eating made with those? If they are...
  23. There is a chance of a false negative on the biopsy for a number of reasons so do the diet even if the biopsy is negative. You do have to be strict. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease where gluten causes antibodies to form which then attack the body. The antibody reaction can affect pretty much any organ including the brain and the reproductive system...
  24. Positive is positive even if it is only to one of the tests. It is your choice whether you want more testing keeping in mind that there is a high rate of false negatives on both blood and biopsy. If you do want more celiac testing you do need the diet when that testing is finished no matter what the results. It can take some time for the joint pain to resolve...
  25. I was negative repeatedly for years and years as I got sicker and sicker. I knew nothing about celiac so didn't know to just try the diet. I was finally diagnosed after an elderly and savvy allergist put me on a strict elimination diet and it was confirmed by my clueless GI doctor. Do note though that just because you were negative on blood work 2 years...
