  1. Mine also stopped once I went gluten free. It took me a while to get strict with the diet and become aware of Cc risk so I had a couple the first month or so but now I only get them with a glutening.
  2. Thank you (where is the 'blushing icon?!) I have heard of many folks who have had good experiences with Naturopaths but folks need to do as much research as they can. I just happened to get real unlucky as we don't have any good ones in my area. Perhaps folks could ask how many celiac patients the naturopath have or ask at a local support group if individuals...
  3. Is this product a UK product? If so here is their contact info. I would telephone them and ask. Brothers Drinks Co. Limited Anglo Trading Estate Shepton Mallet Somerset BA4 5BY Tel: 01749 344 446 Fax: 01749 343 993 E-mail: enquiries@brotherscider.co.uk
  4. Yea they told me for years and years that I wasn't celiac and just to get more fiber and take these pills for all your other symptoms. You can see in my signature what that 'wise' advice did. I am assuming you were negative on testing but up to 20 to 30 percent of us are a false negative. If gluten makes you sick then listen to your body.
  5. Yes we can heal without drugs as long as we are strict with the diet. If you're concerned about your son being given drugs or the biopsy procedure since his blood work was positive you could simply choose to get him strictly gluten free and then test again in a few months and see if those levels have gone down. Do be aware that if you make him gluten free...
  6. That's fantastic news and quite a relief I am sure for you. Thanks for posting the update.
  7. Since gluten triggers antibodies the effects of getting a bit of CC will cause the antibodies to flare causing great distress in many of us. We want the antibodies, which cause the autoimmune impact, to go away. Even a small amount of gluten will trigger them. However it can take time for those antibodies to be present in large enough numbers to show up in...
  8. I have to agree with you. That is why I prefer to think of celiac as a genetic difference rather than a disease. I am not diseased gluten is just a poison to my system.
  9. I think a lot of that rise has to do with how we have been eating since the 70's on. When I was growing up in the 50's and 60's much of most peoples diets were from whole food. Beginning in the 70's I think we have gone to much more processed and convience food and much of that has gluten in it in one form or another. Add to that the development of higher...
  10. Sorry to hear your son has such issues already. If he does also have celiac once he is on the diet he that will stop any damage the celiac or gluten intolerance would contribute to. It would be a good idea to have him on the diet even if his test results are negative since false negatives are not uncommon and it will help you avoid CC issues also. Having...
  11. Some are good and some are bad. The one I saw was reputed to be the best in our state. He glutened me with every very, very expensive med he gave me. He had an onsite 'pharmacy' where they made much of what they prescribed. I went in and everything was in clear glass jars in this bright and sunny room. The woman who ran the place was real proud that almost...
  12. Yep. I don't think celiac is on the rise though, I think it has been around a long time but instead of diagnosing us with x number of different things people and doctors are becoming more aware and some folks, thanks to this computer age are going into their doctors offices and demanding testing instead of being content to accept IBS and other diagnsoses...
  13. That's great news!!!!! Your house sounds wonderful and everything works. Since you have been mostly gluten free already I would go ahead and make your new home a gluten free zone.
  14. Garnier, the brand I use, Dove, Suave, Giovanni and Shikai are companies that will clearly label gluten ingredients.
  15. Those are not unusual findings for us. Since you are done with testing I would go strictly gluten free. It doesn't matter whether you are 'gluten intolerant' or celiac the need to strictly avoid gluten are the same whichever label you get.
  16. You husbands antibody tests were positive and he has one of the most common celiac associated genes. If he wants to have a doctor derived diagnosis he should at the least get a celiac panel drawn and they may want to do an endoscopy. Blood tests and endos do have fairly high false negative rates so after he is done with all testing he wants to do he should...
  17. How bad is the pain? Do you have a fever or any other symptoms? If the pain is very bad head to the doctor especially if you are feverish. It could be celiac related but it could also be something else.
  18. I agree totally. When I think back about what my life and my childrens would have been like if I had been diagnosed when I developed DH as a child it just makes me so angry and sad. I am healthier now than ever before in my lifetime and personally I stay as far away from doctors and all their drugs as I can. Trust a vaccine for celiac, absolutely not.
  19. Karl you are quite talented. I don't know if you are familiar with Ebay but at this point people can list up to 50 items a month and you don't pay anything if the items don't sell. You can order postage right through Ebay for less than at the post office and even arrange to have the Post Office pick up your sold items. I also was homebound for years and only...
  20. The advised intake for someone who has been gluten free or gluten light is 3 or 4 slices of bread a day for two to three months and you may still have a false negative. As for the celiac 'vaccine' well I don't know if I would put any money on that really being an answer for us.
  21. Of course your body has damage. So does mine and lots of it is permanent. I am 55 and was celiac from the time I was 4 or 5 years old and wasn't diagnosed until 9 years ago. It took me years to recover, it was almost 5 years until I could even read a book but last year I went back and finished my last sememster at school. I have two children who are also...
  22. Well it did go up even in that short time so IMHO that would indicate you have an issue with gluten if you also had an increase in symptoms during that time. As for the endo if you are going to have one done you really need to go back on gluten full force for a couple months. Does the thought of that send shudders down your spine because you know you will...
  23. For a long time the only way to diagnose was the endo and some doctors still see it as the 'gold standard'. More doctors are starting to diagnose with just positive bloodwork and response to the diet. Sometimes a ped or GP will give the diagnosis once the persons health has returned as they usually see the full effects of the impact over the years whereas...
  24. Have an honest talk with a recruiter. They can give you the answer you are looking for. If you can't serve in the RAF you can still work as a nurse in a hospital.
  25. I was not likely glucose issues that destroyed your teeth it was more likely the celiac as that has dire effects on the tooth enamel. I would suggest asking his social worker for help with this. Perhaps they can link you up with a dietian. If he doesn't like 'gluten free' food feed him food that is naturally gluten free as there are many out there. A visit...
