  1. The packaging is small for you to return the samples, unless they changed it since my tests were done, so you could slip it into a plastic bag if needed to get it to the post office.
  2. It took me 3 to 4 days for the agony to start. I did challenges twice and both times it was a delayed reaction. Everyone is different though so some may react quickly and some may seem not to react at all. Don't just look for GI symptoms as some of us will get fatigue, headaches, problems with mood, bone and joint pain etc.
  3. I am so sorry you are feeling so badly. You mention a meal replacement, does that have soy? If it does try going without it for a bit and see if that helps. Something else you may want to do is check with your doctor. If you have been so ill for so long it may be that the same place that gave you the crouton also gave you food poisoning. Although that generally...
  4. IMHO yes it was when you take into consideration how he reacted to the challenge.
  5. I hope it helps you also. After you have the biopsy taken go ahead and start the diet you don't need to wait for the results if all other celiac related testing is done already. There can be false negatives with both blood and biopsy so no matter what the results it is advised to do a trial of the diet. It can take a bit of time to heal, especially when it...
  6. In my case celiac was defiantely linked to my orthostatic hypotension along with low blood pressure and something called ataxia. I was told for years that it was normal for me to have blood pressure readings like 90/60 or so and that all I could do was stand up slowly. After years of that my balance became very bad and toward the end I needed either canes...
  7. Welcome to the board. The previous poster gave such good advice I really don't have much to add. If you do decide to get tested give yourself a good 2 months back on gluten before you test but be prepared for a false negative. When your done with testing do give the diet a good strict try for a bit and see if it helps.
  8. Yea alarm bells is an understatement. Unfortunately this brings back many memories for me. Don't give this guy another chance. You will always love him but he isn't going to change and his behavior will simply get worse. You are worth more and being alone is preferable to always having to worry about the next 'episode'. I hope you can get your old job back...
  9. welcome to the board, if you had a postive blood test your in the right place. Many doctors want blood tests to be strongly positive not realizing that even a low positive with celiac is positive. Good for you for figuring this out. Do mention to your doctor the relief you got from the diet and the return of problems when you added it back in. That combined...
  10. Celiac can have effects on the lymphatic system. That is why we are more prone to lymphoma, although it is rare for it to develop. If you can seek a second opinion then there is no harm in doing so. If you can't then just go gluten free, strictly, see if it helps your issues. Being gluten free won't effect testing for anthing other than celiac and may resolve...
  11. I have read studies, unfortunately I didn't book mark them, but after 5 years gluten free it is thought that your chances of developing a celiac related cancer go down to that of the nonceliac population. I was an undiagnosed celiac for over 40 years and very, very ill for the last 15 but hadn't developed cancer during all those years and now almost 9 years...
  12. Since this test: GLIADIN DEAMIDA 27.0H United (<20.0) GLIADIN DEAM weak pos Method: EIA GLIAD DEAM IgA Reference was positive, even though a weak positive it isn't something you should really ignore. It is one of the newer and more reliable tests. After you are done with all celiac related testing do give the diet a good strict try.
  13. If things haven't eased up today give your doctor a call.
  14. You must care a lot for this guy to keep giving him chance after chance. It will be hard but you have to make a final break. It sounds like his abuse is getting worse and worse and you are worth so much more care than this man is showing you. Do contact a lawyer if you own property together and it might not be a bad idea to talk to a counselor for a bit to...
  15. What did you eat? Whether it was gluten sneaking in somewhere or it is a stomach bug be gentle with your tummy. Plain gluten free toast, made of course in a toaster that has never been used for gluten bread, Cream of Buckwheat or a for sure gluten free Cream of Rice might settle things a bit. Do make sure any meds you take for this, or anything else, are...
  16. This could be associated with celiac. Since your done with testing you can now start a trial of the diet. You may even get some relief from your symptoms before you go back for the results of the biopsy.
  17. This was me also. Don't go just by what the tech told you. Do let the doctor know what the tech said though as the tech was overstepping their training a bit. It isn't going to hurt to give the diet a good strict try for a month or so to see if that gives you some relief before letting them remove your gallbladder. Celiac can cause a lot of inflammation in...
  18. Yea those were strong positive results. While the diet may seem daunting you may find she gets some relief from the other autoimmune issues when she has been gluten free for a while. If she is getting the endo don't take her gluten free until that is done. She definately will benefit from the gluten free diet once all testing is finished.
  19. I think going back on the diet is the way to go. What you did was a gluten challenge when you reintroduced gluten and your body made it clear that it would rather you were gluten free. If your body is fighting gluten all the time it doesn't have much left in reserves to fight off colds and viruses. I was also sick all the time before I went gluten free...
  20. Hopefully you are feeling better this morning. What gluten can do to the brain is scarey. The only good thing about this episode is that you knew what was going on and if it happens in the future you know why it is happening. That can make it easier to deal with. You may want to mention it to your doctor in case something like that happens when you are not...
  21. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Hope all will go well for everyone.
  22. Your results were really high from what I can see so hopefully you will be feeling better soon.
  23. Cross contamination is when a very small amount of gluten comes into contact with our gluten free foods. What you need to replace are your toaster, any scratched non stick pans, wooden cutting boards and utensils. You dishes should be okay. Cross contamination can happen at a factory when the factory also makes gluten foods. It can also occur when folks...
  24. Kinnickkinnick Pizza Shells and Hormel pepperoni Udi's bread Dinty Moore Beef stew Boneless pork chops chicken breasts- I buy these and chops in large quantity packages and freeze. 25. Yes we do need to do just as you say. GI symptoms are not the only damage that is being done with celiac and some celiacs have problems that are more skin or neurologically oriented than GI related. The problem is that although folks may notice little in the way of GI symptoms the antibodies can be attacking other systems. Celiac is much more than just tummy...
