  1. You should make an appointment soon with your old doctor and discuss the reaction with him. There may be some bloodwork that should be done just to be on the safe side especially if the doctor who prescribed the med didn't run any before the Dapsone was prescribed. While hives is a typical allergic reaction the pinpoint raised hemmorages are not. Chances...
  2. If your symptoms have resolved on the diet then you need to be on the diet. I do understand the need to have a diagnosis but you will need to go back on gluten for a couple of months before you get tested. You may still have a false negative. You mention you have no insurance. Are you living at home with your parents? If your not contact your local hospital...
  3. Thanks Lisa
  4. I missed the time on the posts. Hopefully the doctor did call her back the next day or the doctors emergency service relayed the message. And you are right that the OP should have gone to the ER and hopefully they did.
  5. I agree about the prednisone. Before we knew I had DH they would let me have prednisone about once or twice a year and it would give me some relief for a few weeks.
  6. It is inexcusable that your doctor has not contacted you. This could be a serious reaction. If he hasn't called you back and the reaction hasn't resolved yet go to his office and demand to be seen. Here is a link to the NIH info on the drug and a link is there to report this adverse reaction to the FDA. Since your call hasn't been returned it is unlikely...
  7. Have you had your total IGA tested? If your low on that the IGA related tests would come out negative, that would be a reason not to do them.
  8. It sounds like you are doing everything you should. Glad to hear the house is gluten free. For some reason I thought you were talking about your girlfreind not your child so forgive me if my reply seemed a bit strange. You may see a bit of resolution in some of the Asperger symptoms and since she is an Aspie do avoid dairy in all forms for a while also. Some...
  9. I was a chef at a restaurant that catered to folks with food intolerances for many years, very sick at the time and didn't know I was one of them myself. I have 2 wonderful grown children, one is a RN who completed 2 Bachlor degrees by age 22 and the other is studying Electrical Engineering. I have worked in the school system as a long term sub with...
  10. I would also say to stop the meds that are making you worse. You say you felt 90% better gluten free so do stay gluten free. Many of us react to oats so do drop those also. 4 days of D. brain fog and fatigue are typical 'I got glutened reactions'. Do you eat soy? That can also be a problem so eliminating that would be my next step. If you have been gluten...
  11. That's where I would get pain also. Except when I am having cramps and D then it is a whole abdomen thing. For the pain that I get under my ribs on the left or center I find Pepto Bismal liquid, name brand, to stop it quickly and usually in one dose.
  12. You have my sympathies it must have been a miserable 3 months. There is of course a chance of a false negative but hopefully after all you have been through the tests will be conclusive. Make sure you let the doctor know how miserable it has been as some will give a diagnosis based on the return of symptoms with the challenge even if the tests are negative...
  13. Well if she eats something with gluten it will flare the antibodies. Some will feel it quickly but some will have a delayed reaction, sometimes by as much as a couple of days. It will bring back her symptoms and after she has been gluten free and healed they may even be worse than before she was diagnosed. That is the bodies way of protecting us so don't...
  14. If you are asking because you have gone gluten free and are now doubting whether gluten is an issue or not then you could always challenge for at least 2 or 3 months and then get tested. There have been some folks that have done that and gotten a doctor derived diagnosis but usually they were very ill during the challenge and there are some folks who haven...
  15. I was blood tested over and over and over since I had classic celiac symptoms and unfortunately I am a sero-negative celiac. As my present GI said I am one of those celiacs who would have been diagnosed by autopsy if not for that elderly allergist. I do also have DH but no derm was smart enough to biopsy for it and my DH was called everything from 'pickers...
  16. If you have been gluten free long enough to heal a bit and see some resolution in your symptoms the best way to challenge is with a single ingredient item. My doctor had me challenge by eating the food 3 times a day for a week or until symptoms reappear whichever comes sooner. I used cream of wheat, plain.
  17. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. I don't have any real answers for you but can tell you that you have a legal right to copies of those test results. Don't ask for them demand them. You may get charged a copying fee but it is worth it.
  18. Good your skipping the ones with soy and dairy. I've got one of the bullet things too and we liked it so much I had to give mine to my son when he moved and get another one.
  19. Are you drinking the protein zone smoothies? They contain both soy and dairy and may not be tolerated by you right now. Can you make your own smoothies for now? If you can that might be a good thing to do.
  20. Do ditch the Rice Dream and also check all your toiletries for gluten ingredients. Also check all meds and supplements you take. With supplements you need to read all ingredients as some will be labeled gluten free but still have wheat and or barley grass and you will react to those.
  21. Thanks, I am going to have to write that down. I don't know why I just can't remember the name of that test.
  22. I was. After years of negative tests and progressive symptoms I had basically given up. My PT insisted I see an allergist who would deal with intolerances as well as allergies. He wasn't easy to find but I found him. He had me do an elimination diet and I reacted severely to adding gluten back in. When I called and told him he referred me immediately back...
  23. It sounds like your doing great and healing well. Hopefully the energy levels will improve soon. If you not already taking them get some good gluten free vitamins, Stress levels of B and C as well as D3 and a sublingual B12 may help with the energy issues.
  24. Chances are you have had celiac for a while since you have had symptoms for a long time. However how long you have had it isn't as important as the fact that you are now diagnosed and can start to heal. Go with whole foods and drop dairy for a little while as you will heal fastest that way. Do read as much as you can here and ask any questions you need...
  25. Dogs can actually have a form of gluten intolerance, it's fairly common in some breeds but the only one I can think of off hand is the Irish Setter. Many of us make our pets gluten free when we go gluten free to prevent CC and find they do much better on a grain free diet.
