  1. One other thought, you mention your SO was eating a gluten meal. Did you guys do any kissing without him brushing his teeth first? I know it sounds silly but that will gluten you also. Also check your hand lotions if you use them for gluten ingredients as the residue on your hands could CC the food you prepare.
  2. Duodenitis means the duodenum is showing some inflammation. That is not unusual with celiac. From reading your last post it is good that he is seeing good results on the diet and his reaction to adding in that bit of gluten may help him realize how harmful it is to his body. I hope he is feeling better soon.
  3. Now that you are done testing try the diet even though results were negative. Since false negatives are not uncommon it is advised to try the diet no matter what the test results. Since Calprotectin seems to be a marker for inflammation you have nothing to lose by trying the diet. Could you have other issues, yes but the diet will not effect the testing for...
  4. Best way to tell if that is an issue for you IMHO is to stop using gluten toiletries and see if it makes a difference.
  5. It can take a little while for the antibody reactions to stop. Do make sure to check and make sure that any meds she is taking are gluten free. I know name brand Pepto Bismal is safe and it is what I use for the stomach pain. Do check the brand of Tylenol you use by calling the maker and do the same with any scripts she may take. Something that can also happen...
  6. Just be aware that false negatives can be even more common in children than in adults and in adults the false negative rate is about 20%. After all testing is done do give him a strict trial of the diet no matter what the results are but don't take him off gluten until you are done with testing. And do get another ped.
  7. At least 3 servings a day or the equivalent of 4 slices of bread. While feeling better on the diet is pretty diagnostic in itself if you are going to try to get a diagnosis based on the endoscopy then you have to keep eating gluten. If you are able to stict strictly with the diet without the biopsy then skip the biopsy and just go with the diet. As to allergy...
  8. Your antigliadin tests were very high. I am not a medical professional but with your gluten tests at such a high level I think it is possible that after you have healed you may be able to reintroduce the egg and yeast but I of course can not be sure of that. From my own personal experience I have been able to add back in casien and not react but not soy...
  9. Have you tried eliminating soy? That was the last piece of the puzzle for me with joint and muscle pain.
  10. Have they checked your levels for other vitamins, B12 in particular? You may not be absorbing them from foods. Many of us need to supplement the B's, calcium and magnesium and D3.
  11. You have had your DD tested haven't you? We can be addicted to gluten and someone who has a family history of celiac and is showing a very strong tendency to eat gluten foods may be celiac.
  12. Yes all you are experiencing is likely to be celiac related. The diagnosis was a shock to you and is stressing you a bit and stress can cause the symptoms to excaberate. I am glad they are getting you in for a biopsy soon but even if the biopsis are negative you still need to do the diet. Do keep eating a full gluten diet until the tests are finished and...
  13. I agree with this strongly. Then make copies of them to give to any new doctors and keep a copy for yourself. It is a good idea to do this on a regular basis. Glad you are seeing such good results for your family.
  14. If he has been without it for a week can you convince him to stay off it for good?
  15. The main thing I am going to tell you is to not stop eating gluten before your appointment or your testing will come back negative for sure. Add wheat back in to your diet if you have cut it out. Hopefully since you haven't been fully gluten free if you add it back in the tests will show an accurate result. Once you are done with all celiac related testing...
  16. Welcome to the board. There are a lot of us here. We have a section with recipes that you can check out and if there is something you like but haven't found gluten free or don't know how to make feel free to ask. If you are recently diagnosed feel free to ask any questions you need to or vent when needed.
  17. I looked through quite a few articles on the IL-15 research and didn't find anything that stated that gluten intolerance does not have autoimmune effects. Could you give us a link to the research that says with certainty that gluten intolerance isn't an autoimmune impact?
  18. 1) Is amount of gluten eaten proportionate to the body's reaction? I.e. If I ate something with a trace of gluten, would my body react the same as eating a bowl of pasta? Please note I do not intend to do this... I'm just assuming it will happen by mistake! For a lot of us a trace will make us just as sick. Reactions do differ for some folks though. I...
  19. Yes Snickers is gluten free. Milky Way Dark are gluten free but the original is not as it has malted barley. I don't know about the Caramel one but the company is good about labeling gluten ingredients.
  20. You are doing the right thing by keeping him gluten free. For some of us brain impact can occur before the gut damage becomes severe. Also damage can be patchy and if the right area is not biopsied you can end up with a false negative. The combination of positive blood work followed by the positive changes on the gluten-free diet is significant in showing...
  21. I don't carry the celiac associated genes either. So some doctors would thus call me gluten intolerant. If you think that is less serious read my signature.
  22. You do know you need to avoid barley malt not just wheat right? That is in a lot of mainstream cereals. Chex makes gluten free cereals that are safe for us. I think the Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles are also gluten free. Were you diagnosed with a blood test? If so be sure to get rechecks to make sure the antibodies are going down. It isn't just GI discomfort...
  23. There is nothing that would tempt me to cheat. It is so not worth it.
  24. Or your kitchen could become everyones favorite place to be.
  25. I used to cook at a Middle Eastern restaurant that had a lot of stuff that would have been gluten free. In fact we catered to people with food allergies. I would go to the restaurant prepared to just have a salad but do look over the menu taking particular notice of the stuff that the manager said was safe. Then ask the waitress to ask the cook or if the...
