  1. The OP was asking about a lotion that has an ingredient derived from soy not soy sauce. Soy sauce also has to have wheat listed in the ingredients if it is in there and is of course not gluten free in that case.
  2. You do not want to eat sprouted gluten grains. They are not safe.
  3. Glad the info was helpful. You asked in another post about seeing undigested food. when I had pancreatitis from an adverse reaction to a drug I was seeing undigested food. Everything looked the same when it came out as when it went in. Sorry for the TMI. The pancreatic enzymes helped with that pretty quickly. Make sure to mention the undigested food to your...
  4. If your happy with your GI before you switch tell the doctor why your considering changing doctors. Doctors need to know when their staff is rude and unhelpful.
  5. Have you tried buying fresh and freezing? I get onions cut some up fine and some in chunks and then freeze them on sheets and when frozen I dump them into a bag. That way they don't lump together. I think this would work with many spices.
  6. Here is a link to a WebMD page on pancreatic testing. Hope it helps. Open Original Shared Link
  7. It means that some component of the item was made using soy. It would be gluten free as gluten is wheat, rye, barley and oats. Some of us do have problems with soy which is why you may see it often mentioned but it is gluten free.
  8. Welcome to the board and the gluten free family. If there is anything we can do to help with your transition to the gluten-free lifestyle feel free to post a question. It can be tough at first and many of us have ups and downs so do feel free to vent if you need to. I hope you are feeling much better soon.
  9. "I found out that I have a new small white lesion in my brain which wasn't there last year." Are you having any balance or movement issues? If you are you may have gluten ataxia. This lesion sounds like what doctors call a UBO or unidentified bright object. In some countries that is considered diagnostic of celiac that is attacking the brain. My neuro...
  10. I have one on my car key chain that lists celiac and another that states that I have a penicillin allergy.
  11. 4 slices of bread a day for 2 to 3 months. Even then you may have a false negative. If the blood work is positive the doctor may want you to continue on gluten to get the biopsy which could also be a false negative. Only you can decide if it is worth it. If your doctor is willing to test your vitamin and mineral panels and to schedule a scan for osteoporosis...
  12. No they don't. Another pretzel that doesn't have soy is Wylde. If your local store can get the Glutino they should be able to order the Wylde for you. I really like the Wylde but figured I would give the Snyders a try. Both are good and soy free.
  13. Yes. I had it really bad as a child and they told my Mom I had poison ivy in my bloodstream to explain why I had the rash year round. The 'bumps' on your fingers sound like what I get now when I get glutened. Once we have been gluten free for a while the antibodies leave the skin and the outbreaks when we get them are much less severe. There is one thing...
  14. Just a quick note. A diagnosis of DH is a diagnosis of celiac and no more testing would be needed. If you have active lesions go to a derm and ask for a biopsy but make sure they know how to biopsy for DH. They need to biopsy next to the lesion and there is a special test to find the antibodies in the slide.
  15. If your new to the diet is often helps if you stick to whole unprocessed foods for a bit until you have healed. If might help to look at the ingredients in both products and see if they have any ingredients in common. We can have intolerances to items that are in gluten-free food and haven't eaten before. For example I have problems with sorghum and bean...
  16. Interesting, I get them at Wegmans here in NY. I think Wegmans has a couple stores in NC but I am not sure.
  17. You may not even get any symptoms so try to stay calm. I know your angry and upset right now and that is justified I would be upset also. Hopefully you will be fine but drink lots of fluids and go ahead and take the GI Revive. If you don't have the Revive with you get some Pepto Bismal.
  18. What brand of waffles were they? Were they made by a company that also makes gluten containing baked goods? If so perhaps they were CC'd. If you show other glutened symptoms that may be the case. Allergies can crop up at any time also. It is not unheard of for folks to suddenly develop allergies to something they consume or come into contact with a lot. That...
  19. You may want to have a doctor look at the swelling. It does sound like you may have had a gluten reaction to the meal from your description of your symptoms today. Whether the lymph node is related to the glutening I don't know. However when you have a node swell so markedly it is a good idea to have it looked at. It may even turn out to be some kind of a...
  20. Hives being an allergy reaction I would wonder if it was either the watermelon or the waffles. Allergies usually, but not always, show up pretty quickly. You might want to try each individual item by itself over the next few days and see if the hives crop up again. A gluten-free antihistamine might help along with a cold compress.
  21. I am not a doctor but I think the fact that the enzymes are helping so much is significant. If it was a gallbladder issue I don't think they would be helping so much. I could be wrong about that. I am glad your DH is open to the idea of a gluten-free house and you may want to take him up on that for a lest a while if not forever. I am glad the enzymes are...
  22. With little ones so young it is going to be hard. There are many gluten-free cereals and snack cracker, pretzels etc and you might want to see if you can find some that the 3 year old might like. You got some good advice from the previous poster on other things to look out for. Also watch out for gluten in stuff like playdoh. Do make sure that the whole...
  23. It is important that the B12 is sublingual as at least until your body heals it won't be absorbed through a vitamin you swallow. The sublinguals are absorbed through the mucous membranes when they dissolve under your tongue. I take Country Life and NOW and I also have used the Wegmans brand. There are other good ones. One thing to watch out for with MultiVitamins...
  24. First off if your doctor is looking for celiac evidence in a colonoscopy the doctor is clueless. You need to go in from the other end with an endoscopy. If you choose to have that test done I would go to a different GI doctor to have them do it. However you can have neuro issues for a long time before GI stuff shows up. You can also have celiac and have negative...
  25. You asked an honest question and there is nothing wrong with doing so. It is not your fault that the debate got a bit heated. In the end we all need to do what is best for us as an individual. The topical issue seems it will always have those who are for avoidance and those for whom it isn't an issue. You have nothing to feel bad about.
