  1. I agree completely. You have your answer. By the way, you had a legal right to an actual copy of those test results when you originally asked for them. It was illegal for them to withold them from you if you are in the US. That delay has cost you healthwise. What you chose to do with this info is up to you.
  2. She will be fine. The hard part will be the prep the day before the colonoscopy. Make sure you have lots of stuff that she can read or coloring books etc in the bathroom as she will spend much of the day before there. The prep can give a bit of cramping when it first works but usually it is not a painful experience. The tests themselves will be easy as...
  3. Yes it is safe, I have it frequently and have had no issues. As far as I know most of the Ocean Spray items, if not all, are gluten free. Once you get a can in your hand there should be a phone number on it. If you call to double check you may find they will send you off some coupons. That is the one bonus to us having to call companies on so many of...
  4. They are pretty good and if memory serves me not too out of line price wise. There are also some corn based gluten-free 'rice cakes' around, I wish I could remember their name but you may find them in the same area of Whole Foods as the Lundberg. Those were good also and thinner, to me they tasted like popcorn.
  5. Have you started a trial of the gluten-free diet yet? That should have been done the day you had your endo, you don't need to wait on the results, your body will give them to you anyway IMHO.
  6. Before diagnosis I had chronic bronchitis since childhood and was diagnosed with ashtma a couple years before I was diagnosed celiac and put on singulair and an inhalor. I was told these issues were directly related to my smoking and my mothers smoking when I was a child. I haven't had an asthma attack since I went gluten free nor have I had bronchitis...
  7. Glad your doctor is helping with this. If you are done with testing for celiac you can start the diet anytime. You don't have to wait until after the colonscopy as that is not a test for celiac. If by any chance the issue is gluten related you may find you have relief before they even scope.
  8. I take Pepto Bismal liquid, it works fast and is for sure gluten free. If you do go with Tums or something similiar do check to make sure they are safe. Last time I checked some Tums were but some weren't and I don't know if that has changed.
  9. I agree. Even here in the states for example a beverage that comes out of a fountain or a speed bar can have different ingredients than one you buy bottled in a store even if the same company makes it and markets it under the same name. Companies change their formulas all the time I can't even count how many times a new Coke has come out. I do however agree...
  10. I am so sorry that you are still having issues. Are you being really careful about CC issues? If you have DH you have gluten sneaking in somewhere. Recheck everything you put into or onto your body as if you have DH and it is still active you are still getting gluten somewhere. Have you checked all meds and supplements? If you take any generics they...
  11. At the present time those rice cakes would not be safe. Unless I know for sure that the new gluten-free line is processed in a dedicated plant I wouldn't touch them. Way to much of a CC risk.
  12. Have you tried calling the company? What does the ingredient label say? If it only says sardines, soy oil and peppers then it should be okay.
  13. I don't think your going to like my answer but here goes. Drop the dairy for now and I would also eliminate all soy. You have not been gluten free for very long and are still healing from gluten and the most common intolerances for us to have with the celiac are those two. After you have healed a bit more you may be able to add them back in. Do you live...
  14. Unless the cafeteria has a really savvy crew who has been educated on celiac and cross contamination she may find it hard to eat at the cafeteria. If she can have a small frig, hot plate, rice cooker and or a microwave in her room that will help. In the beginning it is best to go with whole unprocessed foods, rice, fruits, veggies, fresh unprocessed meats...

    ARCHIVED Frustrated

The test is very simple for heavens sake! It not like you doctors want her to do eye surgery or something they just want her to put a piece of paper in your eye and see if you are producing tears. If this doctor refuses to do so no matter how long you have been seeing her you need to find another doctor and report her for her negligence. Perhaps if you...
  16. Since you are doing a gluten challenge and those spots are not only itchy but also bilateral it sounds like those spots are DH. I don't know how much longer you have to go on your challenge, or how sick it is making you but you need to know if you can get to see a dermatologist and have them biopsy the area next to those lesions and look specifically for...
  17. I would go gluten free and dairy free and see what happens. The truest 'test' is the diet followed strictly.
  18. Sounds like a great idea. I would double check and make sure that the item compares in price to a package of gluten-free cake mix and a pack of cupcake liners. It's nice that they are doing this but if they are charging much more I would just go with the 'adult' mix.
  19. Are you using anything topically on your face or on any meds? All meds need to be checked to make sure they are gluten-free and you should also check anything you use on your face. I used to use a lot of coverup and makeup to try and cover the lesions on my face and they actually made them worse.
  20. Unfortunately yes you do. Even if the biopsy results are negative you do need to give the diet a good strict try as there are a lot of false negatives. It will seem hard at first but you will get used to it and the difference in the way you feel will be well worth the trouble of the adjustment.
  21. I ordered this too and sent it back. However if it is working for you and you don't end up with symptoms reappearing then enjoy. It looked like a great product.
  22. I would imagine that yes you would need to be eating gluten. The best way to get an answer to this though would be to call the lab. Gluten ataxia can also be diagnosed through an MRI. They would look for something called UBO's or unidentified bright objects.
  23. They have some great products, I just wish they didn't put soy in everyone I have looked at. Okay short rant over.
  24. I avoid it in all topicals that might somehow make contact with any mucous membranes. That means my shampoos and conditioners, all makeup and lotions etc. Gluten only needs to contact a mucous membrane for the antibody reaction to begin. Since for my body the reaction from a small amount is just as severe as it would be if I ate a slice of bread I avoid...
