  1. Jason, I like the others am going to continue to urge you to get some counseling. It has been obvious for quite a while that you are suffering from depression and the spiral downward thinking that can go with depression and anxiety. I, like you, resisted getting help for many, many years but am so very glad I finally got the strength to ask for some help...
  2. If the diet is helping keep with it. It sounds like you could still be getting glutened somewhere have you checked all scripts, generics need to be checked at each refill, supplements etc? Do you any crafts or home repair or remodeling type stuff? Some glues, drywall compound, wallpaper paste and other items can be sources of CC. Do you live with gluten...
  3. If you had a postive blood test you are celiac. Inflammation can often be found on the endo and the damage to the villi can be spotty and missed with the biopsies. You should have been told to give the diet a strict try after the endo. There are no false positives on blood tests but lots of false negatives. I would get on the diet ASAP. I did have...
  4. It seems to me, after years of looking at posts on the board that many of us have had gallbladder issues. It also is known that a surgery, illness or severe physical or emotional stress can trigger the onset of celiac. Hopefully she will consider at least testing for it.
  5. What those white spots likely are is 'UBO's, or unidentified bright objects. My neuro was clueless about them also. If he hadn't been I would have been diagnosed celiac years sooner. UBO's are recognized as being associated with neuroimpact celiac disease, especially when there is ataxia. When my neuro saw them he just shrugged his shoulders and said...
  6. Yes, your body is craving nutrients IMHO. Feed it good wholesome food and if you are worried about weight gain snack on fresh fruit and veggies to get those nutrient levels up as fast as you can.
  7. It is a good idea not only to ask your pharmacist to check but also to call the companies themselves. I 'cheat' a bit when I call about meds and tell them I have a wheat allergy and cannot even tolerate wheat starch. Unfortunately far too many meds in this country have wheat fillers and if the drug is a generic it can change the binders anytime without notice...
  8. If you go with the simple whole foods, naturally gluten free, by doing that your going to be cuttting out processed sugar at the same time. After you have healed a bit with the gluten issue then your plan to add back in processed sugars would be a good one. It can take a bit of time to heal and some of us will go through a withdrawl which will make us irritable...
  9. This is very important to keep in mind. They also can have a 'rebound' effect when folks try to get off them when they have been taking them for a long time. I was given a script for an acid blocker after a gluten challenge produced ulcers in my stomach. I had never had them before the challenge. I used Pepto Bismal liquid first to see if it would work...
  10. It can take awhile for the diet to make a difference. With only one day in you are likely still reacting to the gluten you had earlier this week. Limiting sugar is not a bad idea, many of us eat far to much of it anyway. Go with naturally gluten free whole unprocessed food as much as you can for now. It will help you heal the fastest.
  11. I hope you have a great Birthday and a great year to come.
  12. Yes generic drugs do need to be checked at each refill. If the drug is a name brand and is gluten free it will stay that way until the patent is off, at least to my understanding. Once they have a patent they can't change the binders.
  13. When you inhale dust from gluten, like with wheat based litters or stuff like drywall compound or flour floating in the air, the dust goes into your nose and then down into the back of your throat and that is enough to get us. I just use a clay based litter and a grainfree dry food. There are some varities of canned that don't use wheat, I have good...
  14. It could have been any of the three or all of them. Even though you spit the cookie out some of it would have gotten into your system the minute it went into your mouth. If possible try to get your hubby into the habit of brushing his teeth after he eats a gluten food. If he gets into the habit you won't ever have to hold him at arms length and ask him...
  15. You may want to see if you can get one of those inexpensive 'memory foam' or a 'feather bed' mattress cover for the top of the airmattress. That way the kitty can knead to her hearts content and when the paws slip from your head to the bed you won't have to worry and she won't get hissed at. She will get over her shock from the last one, never fear. I...
  16. IMHO translates to 'in my humble opinion'. I am one of those folks that feel that celiac and gluten intolerance are basically the same thing. At times the antibodies will choose to attack other organs before the gut. That can seem to apply to just about every organ. As far as other autoimmune issues go it does seem that having one autoimmune issue makes...
  17. Here is a link to a past post about the rectal and oral challenges. https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...aded&start=
  18. I get this also. I was prescribed Nexium but decided to try Pepto Bismal liquid instead to see if it would work since I don't really like taking pills every day for a problem that only shows up when I get glutened. For me the pepto bismal liquid works within minutes of the first dose and I don't usually need to take another.
  19. The only tests being gluten free will effect is tests for celiac. IMHO if your ANA levels go down then celiac was causing the elevation to begin with. But if you do have another autoimmune issue going on that was not caused directly by celiac disease then being gluten free is not going to effect those test results. I would give the diet a shot. You may...
  20. There are actually 7 more genes that have been recognized as being associated with the development of celiac. It is about time the US got up on this but most doctors done realize it. It is also starting to be recognized that there are celiacs, folks with DH are a prime example, who don't get villi damage until very long into the disease process, if at all...
  21. The only tests being gluten free effect are the ones for celiac. If you are not planning on the endo for diagnosis you don't have to wait to try the diet.
  22. Distillation may make gluten grains safe for lots of us but there are some who will still get a gluten reaction from them. I go for the potato vodkas when I drink vodka or go with a clear rum or wine.
  23. IMHO the children that are showing symptoms should have a trial on the diet regardless of what the blood work says. Why not consider making the household gluten-free for a couple of months and see if that makes a difference.
  24. And if the child happens to be a false negative on testing that you seem to think is the be all and end all of diagnosis you can watch your child fall farther and farther behind on the growth charts until your 15 year old struggles with the humiliation of being thought constantly to be 10 and any chance of a normal social life and dating is out of the question...
  25. If it is just Hemp Oil it should be safe.
