  1. I would mention this to your doctor. There is testing they can do, an EEG, during which they can try to bring on seizure activity. Even more important though is that you get strict with your diet.
  2. The description of those bumps sounds a lot like the could be DH a skin presentation of celiac. What you need to do is get to a dermatologist when the rash is active. Ask for a biopsy looking for DH specifically. They will need to biopsy the area next to the rash not the rash itself.
  3. The symptoms you descrige could come from Vit B12 defieciency which is often present when we are first diagnosed. You need to get a sublingual B12 that will bypass the gut altogether and be absorbed by the moucous membranes in your mouth. I use the 3000 mcg sublinguals by Country Life. In addition your symptoms also give some suggestion of gluten ataxia...
  4. I think the reason is in that sentence. I had the same problem with a small grocer where I used to do all my shopping. What you may need to do is find a major store that has it's meat dept seperate from the deli. If I have to get my meats at this store I go for the ones that come prepackaged from the maker. In a pinch they sell some of the Hormel precooked...
  5. Anything that isn't scratched or porous can just be cleaned well. Another possibility, what are you feeding your fluffy freind? If you are feeding her gluten food you could be getting CC'd both from the food itself and from residue on her fur.
  6. I wouldn't worry about it. You felt no ill effects and chances are you were not glutened. Silent celiacs are basically celiacs that don't have any gastro symptoms at diagnosis. Most of us do have GI symptoms when diagnosed and if glutened they return, often stonger than before they were gluten free.
  7. Labeling laws for food and cosmetics do differ, supplements too for that matter. Maltodextrin can also be derived from barley. Chances are very good that it is going to be derived from a gluten free source but it someone is very sensitive it might be a good idea to call and ask the Makeup company what it is derived from.
  8. Thanks for posting these. You might want to look into sherberts also. Some fit the criteria but I am sorry I don't remember the brand names. Sherbert is also really easy to make and fresh fruit season makes it a good time to try making some. I have seen the coconut milk one you mentioned and I'll have to give it a try.
  9. Thanks for posting. I appretiated the link also.
  10. My first symptoms are neurological. I will feel like the world 'shifts' and have balance issues and depression set in within an hour or so with a strong 'dose'. My GI distress begins with stomach growling which starts within hours and severe stomach pain within 24. About 3 days later the D will set in and as long as I am not reglutened it will only last...
  11. Hang in there. ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) It seems you have had a full blown reaction to the gluten challenge you did. It will pass. Do you have any of the liquid pepto bismal? If it is something you can take it might help with the stomach pain. I know about the teeth issues and it makes me so angry that so...
  12. My overwhelming depressive episodes stopped very quickly and only reappears when I get glutened. I do at times get sad but not like the 'why am I on earth and what reason do I have to even live' sort of feelings that I get on gluten. As for the anxiety, panic attacks and phobias.....well in my case I haven't had much relief from those. BUT and this...
  13. I think your story will be familiar to many that are here. One word of caution, although you have had the bloodwork done if the bloodwork is positive they will want to do another endo specifically to look for celiac. If you are going to agree to another endo for diagnosis then you must continue to eat gluten until that test is done. You do have the choice...
  14. "I went gluten-free on my own while I looked for another doctor and started to feel better within the first 2 weeks. I was gluten-free for 1 month before I found another doc that I was comfortable with and was open-minded enough to listen to me. She wanted me to go off the gluten-free diet for a 6-week gluten challenge at which time we'd do blood testing...
  15. You do need to make sure that all your doctors know you have celiac. You can have the records from the diagnosing doctor sent to all that you are seeing now. Are you strict in following the diet? Have you eliminatied gluten from all your meds and supplements? Your pharmacist should be calling for a prescription meds and you can call the companies that...
  16. Don't be too hard on yourself. With the speed of your reaction it may not have even been gluten it may have been your body didn't like the huge grease load you fed it. If that is the case, and I will keep my fingers crossed for you that it is, you should feel better tommorrow. It you are glutened and you wake to the brain fog etc. one thing I have found...
  17. You may also still be suffering fromt the effects of your glutening a day or two before and with that your tummy may be still sensitive. I also agree with the person who mentioned soy oil. That will give me awful issues also. It is not uncommon for us to be sensitive to both soy and casien and of course you may also be sensitive to some individual spice...
  18. People can of course have an allergy as well as celiac. A reaction that is solely on the skin would likely be an allergy as you have stated. However it is also possiible to injest enough gluten with toiletries to cause a autoimmune or celiac related issues. This could occur when shampooing or if you are using gluten lotions the residue on your hands could...
  19. The stuff that I bolded may be indicative of celiac. Have you gotten any relief from the diet?
  20. Healing times can vary but you should notice some difference soon. The best way to heal the quickest is to eat as clean and unprocessed as you can. Fresh foods like fruits and veggies, freah meats with no broths added in processing, beans, rice, potatoes etc. Also you can have things like doughnuts and pizza etc. There are many brands but my own favorties...
  21. In addition to the great advice you have already gotten, how long have you been gluten free and do others in your home still eat gluten? With your symptoms the night before and the reaction you had this morning I am wondering if gluten could have snuck in someplace. Also what rice milk do you use? Rice Dream is not gluten free so if you are using that brand...
  22. I agree, not only may it be of little benefit but it could be harmful. Your small intestine will 'clean' itself and following the diet strictly will be of the most help.
  23. If you want to know for sure if it is DH you should go to a dermatologist while the rash is active and ask them to biopsy looking specifically for DH. The biopsy will be done on an area next to the rash not on the rash itself. A diagnosis of DH is a diagnosis of celiac. You might want to take a printout of this from the NIH with you to show the derm...
  24. She needs to stay on gluten until all the testing for celiac is done. Otherwise she will have a false negative result on the tests. After that testing is done I agree fully that she should give the diet a good strict try for a bit to see if it helps no matter what the test results are.
  25. That cornflour one looks really good I'll have to try that one soon. Thanks for posting these.
