  1. I would not allow him to eat these under his particular circumstances. I have not eaten those in a while so I can't answer reliably about CC but his reaction has the potential to be deadly. Personally I would not risk it.
  2. My kitty Big Boy, (down to 20 lbs) went to the vet today because of a tooth infection. He will need surgery next Tues to remove the tooth, if he is still with us. He needed his rabies and distemper vaccines so we got them along with a strong antibiotic for the infection. A couple of hours after I got home the vet called. She had given him a dog parvo...
  3. Welcome to the boards. Do not be afraid to go gluten-free, it is something that takes some getting used to but the change in the way you will feel both mentally and bodily will be well worth it. At first try to stay with naturally gluten free unprocessed foods as much as you can. That is going to help a lot with the fear of glutening. I have been doing...
  4. I have a couple grain intolerant pets as well. I switched to the Evo Innova brand of grain free raw food because of CC issues and was amazed that I was no longer cleaning up kitty puke a number of times a week. This kitty also had some hair loss due to allergies and just like me his hair grew back and he is down to 20 lbs. Amazing for him, at his heaviest...
  5. The timing of your prep is going to be linked to when in the next day your procedure is. You can not work while doing the prep but most likely you will start drinking it after work hours. You will at some point be drinking and pooing at the same time. You do need to get the day of the procedure off unless you are a brave soul who is doing it with no drugs...
  6. Darkangel thanks for posting this. I also had a tortuous colon and they were only able to go in about 12 inches before inadaquate anesthesia and pain stopped the procedure. It might have helped if the doc had waited for the meds to take effect first especially since I had told him how fearful I was of the endo part. Instead I got to think everything was...
  7. I am going to tell you the same thing my allergist told me when I called him sick as dog during my gluten challenge. Stop. You have just done the most valid, for sure diagnostic tool that we have at our disposal. The results were positive, even if you continue to poison yourself your blood could NEVER show up positive and a biopsy is very hit and miss...
  8. You are not alone at all. For me this sort of effect was one of the most prominent features. I try to isolate myself as much as possible when this occurs, hard if you have a family. It does help me to tell myself it is a limited reaction and it will go away. The more gluten free I was and the longer I was the easier it has been for family members to...
  9. I would strongly urge it. There is so much more to celiac than just tummy troubles and often folks won't realize how much it effects them until it is gone. We had all family members tested. The only one who shows up negative is me, all others were positive. I was the most severely ill and have the most residual damage so even if they do come back negative...
  10. In addition to the products already mentioned Giovanni organic hair products are gluten-free, or were the last I checked. I use the 50/50 shampoo and the smooth as silk conditioner. They also have a serum that is for curly hair that is antifrizz and I had good luck with it. I also will use pure coconut oil, a very light amount if my hair seems real dry...
  11. I was thinking, if you have a good garage that you could spare, like any of us have any free space, but anyway, that might make a realistic way of setting up a for sure gluten-free space that you could fill with a couple of ovens, a sink and a frig. It would need to be a nice clean garage or outbuilding with a cement floor but you would have an easier time...
  12. Just a quick update, I found out the young man who was arrested was allowed to go free in time to be with his family and friends at the funeral. My DH said today he is seeing teens with T's with Elvin's picture on it. He had many, many friends and will live on in everyone's heart forever. Thanks again everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
  13. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers. I should clarify that I am no longer able to work with the kids I loved so much. I was too ill to continue, it was predianosis, and it took a long time before they were able to reopen the Teen Center, which now is run by a wonderful woman I went to school with. He was a vistor to the new club also and...
  14. The last few days have been very rough. Early Sunday morning another one of my 'kids' was murdered. He was a good kid just a month from his 18th birthday. He used to come to the club I ran when it first opened, it was supposed to be a teen center and he wasn't but I bent the rules for him and 2 of his freinds. I just couldn't turn them away to the streets...
  15. A gluten free bakery is a great idea, a gluten free home based bakery maybe not so much. To see what you would have to go through to do this you may want to contact your local health department, they are the ones who are going to be going through your kitchen with a fine tooth comb, literally. If you are a total clean freak with a large frig, (there are...
  16. If memory serves me eosinophilic esophogitis is one of the findings for celiac. Gluten will also not show up on a RAST test as it is an intolerance and not a true allergy. I would stick with the diet for a while before deciding that you both don't need it.
  17. The only other thought I have is this. Is she consuming gluten products when she is not around you? Gluten reactions can be delayed and I wonder if perhaps what is making her sick is gluten because she is 'gluten light'. With a delayed gluten reaction being common is there perhaps a chance that she could be reacting to gluten eating and not to the nongluten...
  18. Ore Ida that makes a lot of gluten free fries. They have a list on their web site heres a link, Open Original Shared Link If you have a wegmans near you they label all their gluten free stuff. Fries as many have said are really easy to though. I cut up a potato in wedges and put it on a pan on tin foil then drizzle with olive oil and seasoning...
  19. It depends on the person. You can try for a bit with dairy in but I don't want you to think that gluten isn't a problem if you still have symptoms. Perhaps try to cut it down a bit, go with stuff like yogurt and hard cheeses which have some of the lactose 'predigested' and are easier to handle. This was what I did and had no problem with those. You should...
  20. Make that a yea here also. I am a small person and mine was all over. It was most noticeable in my abdomen, I went from a size 12 to a 2 within a couple of months of diagnosis. The thing I found most surprising was my shoe size, I thought it had increased because of carrying a 10 lb baby. I had to go and buy all new shoes when my shoe size decreased from...
  21. I fully agree that you need to go to the doctor now. The fact that the blood is red is a sign that it is coming from close to the exit and internal hemmies might not be felt. Hopefully that is all it is but with the other symptoms you are having you need to be seen as soon as you can. If you should develop a fever, get cold and sweaty and or start to experience...
  22. You have come to a good place for info. Make sure you check out the home page also. There is no harm nutritionally with following a gluten free diet and it won't harm the baby at all. Ask any and all queries that you need to and be sure to read as much as you can. People here are familiar with any and all struggles. Welcome to the board. Krista
  23. Whey is derived from milk so as long as you tolerate dairy you should be okay with it. It is not a gluten risk.
  24. I don't know and they don't get us everytime but for me it has happened too often. I don"t have any problems with their Stacks and usually their plain potato chips are fine but things like Doritios and Cheetos for me are much more risky. Out of the family we have two that are supersensitive and two that tolerate much more CC. My DS and I are the ones who...
  25. When I still got my period, before celiac took it away forever and very early, I had years of being GI symptomatic only during my period, all the other stuff fibro, arthritis, brain and movement problems etc, were present all the time but the D and tummy upset only appeared for the week before to the week after my period. This went on from my teens through...
