  1. It may sound strange but when I get poisoned I am relieved when the D finally arrives because everything starts to get better after that is over with. I hope things improve for you after everything is cleared. ((((((hugs)))))))
  2. ((((((Hugs))))) I am sorry you had such a rough weekend. And yes you most undoubtably glutened yourself at the party. Some sausages are safe, some are not. But the CC issue with the tongs and if the sausages were grilled from the grill itself would have gotten you. As to the Chrons issue many chrons patients do see improvement of symptoms from...
  3. I just looked again at the product info and the Grilled has soy sauce in it, which has wheat. "Flame Grilled Burger Ingredients Soy Protein Concentrate-Hydrated, Canola Oil, Vegetable Gum, Wheat Gluten, Salt, Natural Flavors, Autolyzed Yeast Extract, Sesame Oil, Caramel Color, Soy Sauce (Water, Wheat, Soybeans, Salt), Dried Onion, Natural Grill...
  4. It looks like only the Black Bean Chipote is gluten-free, am I right about that?
  5. Very well put. If it wasn't for us Aspie types our world would have much less art and science, good writing to read and research to help everyone. In my family of Aspies we are quite happy being the less than social folks who excell in our given areas, art, medicine and mechanics. There is much more time for us to work on the stuff that is important to...
  6. Jon, Thanks for posting this. I am 4 years into the diet and the changes have been incredible. I hope you will stick around you could give a lot of encouragement to some of the newbies that are struggling and feeling like there is no end to the changes and the misery. Welcome to the boards. My DS will be living in the Rochester area after he finishes...
  7. For me it depends on the alcohol. Wine or a grain free alcohol is fine. I can sip away all night (read 3 glasses here) and be fine. Any grain based alcohol or anything mixed from a 'speed bar' will knock me for a loop and give me glutening syptoms.
  8. Lister stop talking to other people about the pills and just take them. I second what GFB said big time. You are worrying yourself sick over nothing. And you are making every possible side effect show up becasue you are worrying about it. You need to stop looking up diseases over the internet and perhaps start talking to your doctor about seeing someone...
  9. If you are newly diagnosed your gallbladder may still be a bit impaired and having a hard time with oils. You may need to keep oily and fried and fatty food to a minimum for a bit of time. If an oil or another food seems to bother you drop it from your diet for a while then try again in a bit with small amounts. Some oils like seseame oil need to be...
  10. If you have blood sugar issues skipping that before bed snack is a real BAD idea. Even a gluten-free cracker with some pnut butter or a handful of nuts and a few raisens, or even a scrambled egg or just a slice of cheese will help regulate your BS throughout the night and you'll feel better in the morning. You really need to up your protein intake. You...
  11. You have gotten some good advice and I want to second the idea of buying your fresh produce and such there. Even traveling by car I have had to throw out fruit when entering certain states and carting everything with you on a plane is going to be rough. What if your checked bags get lost and your food is in there. They are even making folks take sips...
  12. Everyone is different in the amount of time it takes to heal and a lot depends on which body systems were effected the worst. Some see some resolution of symptoms right away and it is dramatic whereas others will have a more gradual recovery with a lot of ups and downs. Welcome to the boards and ask any questions you need to. There are a lot of folks...
  13. Add me to the list that got relief at last by eliminating nightshades. I cut them out totally for a while and now can have them as long as it is not more than a couple times a week. I went nuts on potatoes and tomato based stews after I was diagnosed celiac so I think it cropped up because of that. I have the most joint damage on my right side but eventually...
  14. I turned 50 this year and my DS said not long ago that I look and act 40, and that when I was 40 I looked and acted like I was 60. I was diagnosed 4 years ago, the first year saw a lot of improvement but it has been this summer when I have really noticed that I don't just feel good I feel great. My tummy troubles resolved after a couple of months but but...
  15. Lister this was most likely simply the stress that brought on your celiac disease. What is messing with your brain is the gluten, the eye thing, the anxiety, the paranoia these are all related to gluten poisoning.
  16. I am glad you are starting them tommorrow but would have felt better if you said today, why wait. If they work that does NOT mean you have colitis or chrons it just means you have inflamation that it helped to get rid of. They will also help to 'jump start' the healing process for your celiac. When I took them before I was diagnosed with celiac they helped...
  17. Because of years of misdiagnosis my celiac disease has impaired my pancreatic function and that has caused me to develop diabetes, diagnosed a few months ago. I went to my see the Diabetes Educator here. I was handed a stack of literature, ("feel free to line your bird cage with this" was what she said as she handed it to me) and she handed me a prescription...
  18. I know it's frustrating. I was told over and over again after tests that nothing was really wrong and everything was in my head. It wasn't until after a while on the diet that I really believed it myself. After all how could an allergist figure out what was wrong when all these other specialists were just telling me to live with my pain and handing me...
  19. I second what Patti said big time. They are going to reduce the inflamtion in your system and will help you more than you could know. They are not a disease specific drug they help with many conditions where inflamation is present. If your doctor had prescribed these for a long term like 6 months or so there might be cause for concern but you were prescribed...
  20. Have you called the pharmacey where you got the pills? The druggist can tell you for sure if the pills are gluten free and should be happy to do so.
  21. For me the muscle and joint pain last about 2 weeks.
  22. Thanks for posting this, I saw a reference to 'if you leave the island' is this in the United States?
  23. NO PAIN after 15 years of daily torture so bad that I hoped at times I would die. Listening to my DS laugh as he watches TV in his room, he had not laughed in years before diagnosis, that sound can keep me awake anytime The changes in him have even encouraged some of his freinds to explore the possiblity that they need the diet also.
  24. It does sound like you got glutened most likely on Friday. The symptom progression and timing are exactly like mine are when glutened. If that was the case you should feel a bit better after the D is over but you may have some residual symptoms for up to 2 weeks as it can take a bit of time to get completely out of your system. Do not take anything for...
