  1. That sounds like fun. Make sure you let your beautician know that you did the treatment just to make sure your hair doesn't get damaged.
  2. Have you tried going completely gluten free for at least a couple months? Some of us do have false negative results. So many of your symptoms sound like some of the ones I had that I wonder if maybe you have a less common celiac associated gene. Even just eating a little bit of gluten every few days can keep you from healing if gluten is your issue. Since...
  3. Were you used to eating a lot of fruits and veggies before you went gluten free? If you are eating a lot more raw fruits and veggies suddenly that can cause bloating. Early on it seems anything can for some of us. It takes a while to heal and some find it helpful to go with well cooked fruits and veggies and mild foods for a bit. You may also be reacting...
  4. One of the first signs I have been glutened is an overwhelming depression like you describe. The tummy issues, joint and muscle pain come a day or two later. For me the depression lifts after about 24 hours but for some folks it might take longer. Hang in there and take this as your bodies way of telling you to stay away from gluten. You are in a good place...
  5. No your not alone. I was so very sick when diagnosed I couldn't imagine how I was ever going to have the energy to cook every meal. Shopping was a long and frustrating task. My DD even refused to shop with me for a while after I burst into tears in the grocery store. I made so many mistakes at first, in part because I didn't know I couldn't tolerate soy and...
  6. Call your GP or head to the ER if this continues. It sounds like you may have salmonella or another food poisoning. Your GP can do a stool test to know for sure. Your symptoms, including the rash sound just like my bout with salmonella a few years back. Some folks only get a minor effect from food poisoning but others can become seriously ill. Make sure you...
  7. Cream of wheat would be just wheat and that of course would have gluten. Triscuits are another option. If you do challenge be sure to eat what you challenge with 3 times a day for up to a week because gluten reactions can be delayed. You could of course stop the challenge if you react sooner.
  8. The neurological and skin can take a while to clear. You might want to limit iodine for a short time to help your skin clear faster. Do be sure to add it back in after your lesions have resolved. Sublingual B12 seemed to help my neuro issues improve but it still took some time. IMHO you should give yourself at least a couple months gluten free before worrying...
  9. Well your not alone. I am also 5'4" and would be happy if I could get back to 112lb. I seem to stuck at 105. I was up to almost 115 but then had a job that was not a good fit for me and lost 10lbs. Putting it back is hard. One thing I have done in the past that worked for me (don't know how healthy it was) was eating Wylde pretzels. They are gluten and soy...
  10. Well for me it was at least partially in my head.....I have the MRI scans showing brain lesions to prove it.
  11. Lots of canned stuff can be eaten right out of the can without heating. Most veggies, tuna, canned chicken or ham in small cans. Mix a bunch you like together and throw a dressing on it like you would a salad. Nuts, Dryed meats, fresh veggies and fruits by the piece. You might be able to find shelf stable milk in small containers for drinking or cereal...
  12. I would call daily about the cancelation list. Call about an hour after the office opens. Folks will often cancel their appointments early on the day they are scheduled. Be polite but by calling every morning they may just get tired of hearing your voice and slide you into one that just opened up a few minutes before you call. By the way some doctors will...
  13. You are in a place in NY where the cost of living is sky high. I don't know why you are in the city but if you can move Upstate you might have better luck finding work and someplace to live with a reasonable rent. Celiac is considered a disability so you might even find you are able to access training and help getting into a small apartment. This is especially...
  14. You might want to consider dropping the gluten free oats for a bit. Some of us react to them and the only real way to tell is to drop them for a while and then add them back in and see if your symptoms flare. I don't know if it will apply for you but not knowing I was intolerant to soy kept my joints painful for a long time. Finally dropping gluten free...
  15. (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I think there are a lot of us here that know quite well how you feel as we have also endured years of illness and inconclusive or false negative tests. IMHO you are doing the right thing by giving the diet a good strict go. Hopefully by the time...
  16. Since I don't know how to do fireworks either I thought I would 'blow up' smiley faces. (Well I tried to anyway but I guess there are only so many the board will allow us to post. ) That's great news and thanks for posting it. News like yours gives newbies hope.
  17. Welcome back. It sounds like things have been very rough on your family and I hope things improve. Meanwhile, (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
  18. Does this rash itch? Your description of 'lacy' makes me wonder if it might be livedo reticularis. I have that and it seems to be related to inflammation at least for me. It was so bad I was purple before diagnosis but since I went gluten free it has resolved greatly, unless I get glutened.
  19. Sure do wish I could send you all some of the rain we are getting. I can't believe how hot and dry it has been this year out there. I hope the idiots with the fireworks stay inside by their AC this year. Stay safe and have a good fourth.
  20. Just realized I never gave the name of the product. Duh. It is called Great Hair Day and is put out by Joan Rivers.
  21. Such sad news this morning. This has been such a bad year already for forest fires. So much destruction and now this tragic loss. Firefighters, many of them volunteers, are true heros.
  22. The stuff I am talking about is a powder in a compact with a application brush. It does come in a salt and pepper (grey) shade. It doesn't make the hair itself thicker but hides the thin spots at the scalp. If someone dyes their hair it will help to hide the roots growing in as it will stick to hair as well as scalp. I have seen a product, I think it was...
  23. Yea that brand stays where you put it. It is the only product of that kind that I have ever tried. It worked so well I have never tried any other. I was skeptical when I ordered it but now I wouldn't be without it.
  24. I also have problems with hair loss. Mine thins badly at times plus I have a spot on my crown that has a scar from an accident. A couple years ago I tried a product put out by Joan Rivers (I get it from QVC). It is a powder that you can apply on the areas that are thinning. I was doubtful at first but it stays where it was put until washed out and does a...
  25. You need to talk to your doctor about this. There can be a number of causes some serious, some not. If you are taking supplements with potassium stop until after you discuss this with your doctor.
