ARCHIVED Has Anyone Used Wen Clensing Conditioner (Gluten Free)?
ravenwoodglass replied to SheilaKT's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I always wanted to try the stuff but a few years ago when I ordered some I sent it back because of the wheat. What one are they making now that is gluten free? And does it have soy protein? -
Then I would want to know why you can't bring your food in. You can't safely eat the food they serve and are no different from the kids that pack a lunch. I could understand them not letting you bring in food that they know a particular child is allergic to but they can't expect you to just not eat during your shift if it is a shift length that legally requires...

ARCHIVED Beware B Vitamin Toxicity!
ravenwoodglass replied to SGRhapsodos's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Why is your MD testing you right after you have had an injection? He should be checking before the test. Or is a different doctor doing the injections? If that is the case tell your MD so he can schedule a test before you get the shots. -
Even if you do pass down the celiac associated genes that doesn't mean your children will develop celiac. Everyone has something or other that they would rather not pass down to their children. Think about all the positive things you have to give and teach a child if you want one in your life. Bad stuff can always happen but we do find the strength to carry...

ARCHIVED Negative Test Result

If your feeling better on the diet stay on it. Also be sure to get actual copies of all tests and lab reports. -
ARCHIVED Is It My Celiac Disease Back Again
ravenwoodglass replied to cristalbleu13's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. The doctor that told you that you outgrow celiac was flat out wrong. Once we are diagnosed we are celiac for life. It sometimes takes a while for symptoms to reappear but for you they now have. Sorry but you need to get back on the diet no matter what your test results are. I hope you are feeling better soon... -
Have they done stool testing to rule out any nasty food borne illnesses like Salmonella? If not ask that be done ASAP. While that should have been one of the first things they did doctors sometimes don't. I had salmonella once and had symptoms similiar to yours. The doctor just kept saying my 'IBS' (wasn't diagnosed yet) was just acting up. It was 2 weeks...

ARCHIVED Mystery Diagnosis (Long Story)
ravenwoodglass replied to cmdoppler's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the board. It sounds like you have found a good doctor. Do be aware that false negatives are even more common with children than adults and adults have a pretty high rate. Read as much as you can here and ask any questions you need to. Don't take him gluten free until after all celiac related testing is finished as that will cause a false negative... -
ARCHIVED Taste Of The Wild Recall
ravenwoodglass posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Diamond Company that makes Taste of the Wild pet food has a recall because of salmonella risk. Figured I would post this in case anyone else feeds their pets this brand. I'll have to go on a hunt for some that isn't recalled tomorrow since that is all Maggie eats. Wish me luck. The package codes recalled are at this link. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Labeling Laws For Drugs Are Almost A Reality.
ravenwoodglass replied to Lisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wonder if there is a way for Scott to send the link to all members that get updates on the site or Gluten Free Mall info.? We have a lot of members that are not active on the board but might still want to know about this and participate. -
This is a place where you are always welcome to vent. It has got to be hard to deal with them and I don't think anyone is annoyed with you at all. We just wish we had some way of thunking those idiots on the head. I am glad you aren't letting them know that they are getting to you and that your 2 friends have your back. The karma these kids are throwing out...

I agree with the others that you need to find a new group of friends. Your other option is to try and develop a thicker skin. If you didn't get so upset about it they might lighten up on you a bit. With people like these kids the more upset you get the more ribbing your going to get. If you can somehow laugh about their kidding instead of getting upset they...

Me too. Wouldn't hurt for us to email links to the letter to freinds and family also. -
ARCHIVED Woodchuck Cider Soy And Dairy Free?
ravenwoodglass replied to Carebear's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This applies to foods but not to alcoholic beverages in the US. No ingrediennts at all need to be listed on alcohol here. That said Woodchuck is gluten, soy and dairy free AFAIK. I drink it on occasion. Edit: Whoops, sorry didn't realize this info had already been posted. I'm not fully awake yet. -
I read that one recently and really enjoyed it. Baum's Oz series is one of my favorite reread often series. The modern take off on the Oz books is pretty good also. Wicked was one of them and that was great. I am still looking for the rest of them.

ARCHIVED New To This And Still Not Sure If It Is Celiac Disease
ravenwoodglass replied to scaredblossom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't have a lot of time so a couple brief lunch ideas. How about a hard boiled egg and some fruit, cold baked chicken and fruit, some gluten-free lunch meat rolled with a piece of lettuce or left overs from dinner the night before as a couple examples. Maybe start a thread asking for lunch ideas as many of us do have to deal with this. -
ARCHIVED Oskri Cashew Granola - Mislabeled?
ravenwoodglass replied to basilicious's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Have you contacted the company? Could it be possible that the buckwheat is flaked and that is what you are seeing that look like oats? Maybe you are reacting to another ingredient? -
ARCHIVED New To This And Still Not Sure If It Is Celiac Disease
ravenwoodglass replied to scaredblossom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Not a dumb question at all in this day of premade and processed and boxed foods. Whole foods would be fresh meat, chicken, fish, eggs, veggies and fruits etc. in their natural state rather than processed or premade. Like our grandparents used to cook. Some of us find it helpful to wait until we have healed a bit before we try too many special gluten free... -
I've been reading a book called 'Buttons and Foes'. Don't know who wrote it and I'm too lazy today to run up stairs and look. It's just a fun mystery about a woman who runs a dry cleaners who is willed these dresses that are covered with a womans button collection. The woman was perhaps murdered and dry cleaner is trying to find out why and if the buttons...

ARCHIVED Skinny Girl Products
ravenwoodglass replied to varthurs's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Most celiacs are okay with distilled gluten grains. There are a very few, myself included, who don't tolerate them. I don't know which group you would fall in. You might want to try them out when you are for sure eating safe items to see if you react. If you are new to the diet your system may have a hard time with alcohol whether it is gluten free or not... -
ARCHIVED Getting Confused
ravenwoodglass replied to trayne91's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What's wrong with these doctors is they still refuse to think that celiac is anything more than an GI disorder. I had ataxia and DH for about 30 years before GI issues appeared. -
ARCHIVED New To This And Still Not Sure If It Is Celiac Disease
ravenwoodglass replied to scaredblossom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It might be helpful blood sugar wise to check it before you eat then at 1, 2 and 3 hour intervals after. Do this with each meal and record the findings and take them to the doctors office at your next visit. You can also ask your doctor to do an A1c which will show your BS average over a 3 month period. If you can go with more whole food and less stuff... -
