  1. I like Garneir products.
  2. You might want to check and see if the MRI showed any UBOs, Unidentified Bright Objects). Some doctors think these are normal. My neuro did and it cost me a few years. The UBOs are diagnostic of celiac autoimmune action in the brain but many doctors don't know that. You mentioned in another post not being dizzy. I thought I should mention that I never...
  3. Go ahead and talk to your doctor about it. DO NOT just stop taking the med without talking to your doctor first. You may need to taper off the drug. Tapering would also, I think, let you know if your anxiety med is still needed. For some of us anxiety resolves gluten-free but for others the diet doesn't make much difference.
  4. This does sound like PTSD. I am a sufferer of this and it takes much more than one visit to a psychologist to overcome it enough to live a semi-normal life. Do try to find a good psychologist or psychiatrist and be aware that sometimes it takes a bit of time to find one you really click with. Glad to hear you no longer carry concealed weapons as PTSD can...
  5. Head to the baking and recipe section of the board. Someone may already have a recipe for the caramel rolls. You can also get some help with the bread. Baking gluten free bread is a bit different than wheat breads. They usually only do one rise and aren't kneaded. More like a batter than a dough, at least the ones I used to make. I just buy prepared now that...
  6. Welcome to the board. I don't think your just making it up. Are you aware that gluten reactions are often delayed? It can take up to a week for a reaction to happen after you go back on gluten. A few folks will react right away but definately not everyone.
  7. Can you tell us what kind of meds she needs? If they are script find out the maker from the pharmacey before you pick the script up and then call the maker directly.
  8. Doctors thought I had MS for a while. I had gotten to the point where I needed Canadian Canes or a wall to be able to walk and when I fell I had a lot of trouble getting back up. About 6 months after diagnosis I caught myself running up the stairs without even thinking about it. I sat at the top and cryed. I still had some balance issues for a while after...
  9. It's possible the surgery triggered it. It is also possible that you were celiac before the gallbladder came out and it contributed to your gallbladder issues.
  10. What about a family game party? You could bring out cards, do charades, have various games and for food do finger veggies, dips and maybe a fruit salad.
  11. I forgot to mention in my last post that if you by chance have an allergy to dust or other particles like pet hair etc. a mask can be helpful. You can get them in most hardware store in the paint dept. Before I went gluten free I had awful allergies to dust and just about everything else, (98 out of 99 things tested for ) and I did find it helped. Don't...
  12. So funny. I have a cat I rescued last year when she was a kitten Found her in a snowbank on a frigid day in a parking lot. No footprints anywhere but where she was so someone had just dropped her off. I didn't know how she would interact with my elderly kitties or if she was lost so I let her stay in my room until I knew we would add her to the family. She...
  13. Really not a concern. I don't think most, if any, detergents have gluten ingredients. I use a detergent free of perfumes and dyes but that is because of allergies to some scents. If you have a dust allergy then dusting may bother you but I doubt that dust would be a gluten risk other than flour dust.
  14. I like the Udi's bread. Snyder's gluten free pretzels are good, especially with Kraft Cheddar jar cheese. I like Kinnickinnick premade pizza shells and when I have time Gluten Free Pantry French Bread mix makes a great homemade crust. I shop at Wegmans and since they label their gluten-free stuff I get their store brand a lot but I also trust Kraft and Unilver...
  15. Welcome to the board. IMHO it sounds like you are in the right place. Don't go gluten free until you are done with celiac related testing. Once celiac testing is done then go strictly gluten free for at least a couple months no matter what the results. I bet your feeling a lot better after a bit gluten free but it can be up and down for a bit at first.
  16. I doubt he learned much about gluten in those engineering and AI classes though. Hopefully he is open to learning something from his sis and at least listens when you tell him he needs to be tested..
  17. In addition to keeping a journal of what you are eating and how you are feeling you should also keep a log of what you are cooking that is not gluten free. You mentioned in another post that you make baked goods that are not gluten free for the gluten eaters at your home. There can be a problem with baking with gluten flours for others as the flours can become...
  18. Some of us also have an allergy to wheat but as has been said gluten needs to either be injested or come into contact with the mucous membranes to cause the antibody reaction. You may have a true allergy as well as celiac/dh. The only thing I wonder about from the quote is this: "Some people develop a form of celiac disease called dermatitis herpetiformis...
  19. I hope they start doing this test routinely with all endos including those on folks still on gluten. I imagine there are a lot of folks with the label gluten intolerant because of negatives endos that would have been diagnosed celiac instead.
  20. I would be interested to know what the total IGG was. Your high IGA is a significant finding especially since your total IGA was pretty low. Do give the diet a good strict go for at least a couple months when you are done with testing.
  21. No worries about the oatmeal unless some of it was floating around in the air or if you had a large fresh cut on your foot that it got in. Gluten can not penetrate the skin but is absorbed by mucous membranes. There are some folks that have an actual allergy to wheat or other gluten grains but for celiacs skin contact isn't an issue unless it is something...
  22. Thanks for mentioning that. I want to relocate before too long and will have to make sure that I don't move into a city with that type of code. Geesh. One of the nicest veggie gardens in my city is in someone's front yard. Their front yard is 3 times the size of my back yard. They have a huge pillared house set wayyyyy back and have it planted with every...
  23. Did you feel better on the two months you were gluten free? After being gluten free for two months you needed longer back on gluten for testing. If you want retesting go back to gluten for at least another two months and test again. But if you feel better gluten free go back to it after the testing is over. Your body knows the answer.
  24. You might want to make the appointment and do make sure to bring your records from your current doctors with you. Talk to the doctor about whether there is a need to rebiopsy when you get there. Since you are still having problems they may want to retest and biopsy to make sure you still haven't got gluten sneaking in or whether you may also have something...
  25. I just finished turning one large raised bed into two smaller ones in a different location. I transfered the soil from the bed into the smaller ones leaving the old space bare. I planted one of the small beds with some radishes, lettuce and spinach but still have a lot more to plant. I put an arch between the two beds and will grow my beans and cukes on...
