  1. We see William Marshall for GI in Portland and Kelvin Snyder for pediatrician, We love both a great deal! William Marshall: Emmanual Hospital, Ped's GI, (503) 281-5139 Kelvin Snyder: Sunset Pediatrics www.sunsetpediatrics.com
  2. That post was from 5 years ago, a lot can change in that time, reformulations occur frequently!
  3. YES!! It was like instant acid being poured on his bum. It would bleed, I felt soooo bad--this was before diagnosis, it stopped right after taking him off gluten. I used the Butt-Paste too, that's all that would work for us. I found the A&D ointment (oily yellowish colored one) was like putting butter on a burn. I tried to leave him without a diaper...
  4. I buy all the different Kirkland brand nuts as well as the trail mix, no problems and my dd is super-sensitive.
  5. We actually spend much less than before diagnosis. Very little eating out, cooking from scratch, not buying crap food from the grocery store, impulse buys, etc. It's been great for us in many different ways!
  6. We buy the ones that are labeled "gluten free" and have never had a problem from them. I do stay away from the ones that state "no gluten ingredients"
  7. I make this recipe for all of my brunches, instead of the regular dough, I make a batch of Bob's RedMill gluten-free cinnamon raisin bread dough and use that instead. It is heaven on a plate!! Open Original Shared Link
  8. My son's biospy was negative too, but since he has a sister who had glaringly positive results and an extreme dietary response, our ped's GI diagnosed him anyway. He is a different kid-100%. I thought he was autistic before... He also went from the 10% in height and weight to the 75% height and 50% weight in less than 1 year!
  9. We don't ever buy Quaker products--CC issue is pretty high. Feel better!!
  10. With my kids, I'm very matter of fact with them. Not to sound like a "Debbie Downer" but life is full of disappointments, I try not to make a big deal about it, just tell my kids this is the way it is....However, when we are to go to a playdate, I let them pick out the snacks that they would like to bring. I always keep a few varieties of muffins and cupcakes...
  11. Both of my kids have Celiac. my dd is almost 8 and it's been well over a year since being glutened and she is SUPER sensitive-every time it has happened, it's been at a restaurant. My son is just now 4, he's not very careful and will eat anything you give him without a second thought, so preschool is a little difficult for all of us no matter how hard we...
  12. Kraft mallows are fine, pure butter is fine, gluten-free chex is fine, vanilla-depends on your brand. I use the Kirkland kind and that's gluten-free, as is McCormicks. I make mine with half gluten-free chex and half Koala Crisp--mmmmm, chocolate
  13. I don't know if I'm the one you were referring to, with the weight loss info. I have helped out a few people here in the past and I do have a whole work-up of what I did to lose 100# and keep it off. I would be happy to share it with you as well, but-not to offend at all (!!!)-I don't think it will be what you're looking for. Exercise is a big part. Not...
  14. Thank you all very much, very good ideas! I never thought about the gi issues they would probably have due to their diet of fast foods and boxes of crap from the freezer. They ended up eating a pizza we had in the freezer for dinner, but my MIL was quite interested in the big fruit salad I made tonight for breakfast tomorrow. I do have options for them since...
  15. I'd like some other opinions on this as my husband and i agree ( , ), but we are expecting company for the weekend and I am concerned about feeding them while they are here. We have recently become about 90% raw and vegetarian with some fish, eggs, etc... thrown in, but gone are the ways of "regular" gluten-free eating. We are all much happier with our...
  16. I went away for a week and half on vacation, had picked all the ripe zucc's in the garden. Upon returning home, I had 3 that were over 6#!!!!! I shredded it all and froze it for later use in muffins and breads, but those 3 yielded 32 CUPS of shredded zucchini!! I am up to 50 cups shredded plus 4 cups of puree and the plants are still going CRAZY!!!
  17. I have an iphone (which I LOVE) and i've had the clan thompson list, I didn't find it overly helpful. I find it just as easy to go to google while I'm in the store and look up anything I need to. I've always been able to find what I need.
  18. We use Pam original spray with no problems. Even though formulas may change from time to time, Conagra will list in the ingredients if there is gluten.
  19. I make a pot of quinoa for breakfast a few times a week and my kids love it-- 1c quinoa (rinsed if needed) 2c water (or 1c water + 1c milk) 2 tsp vanilla 2tsp cinnamon Cook for recommended time for your pkg of quinoa Sweeten with pure maple syrup or agave nectar, I also like chopped pecans and fresh berries on top It is soooo good! My girlfriends...
  20. We always use foil when using other people's bbq's
  21. I buy a lot of their products and have spoken with their customer service many times and have had nothing but positive experiences. They will disclose in their ingredients listed whether or not an allergen is in the product. Look especially for oats and wheat.
  22. This is what I was told as well.
  23. I think you do it very carefully. You can try what I've done, talk to people who will listen, start with friends and family. Be careful not to preach though, I think it tends to turn people off. When someone asks you how you're doing or what you've been up to, share how you were sick, how going gluten-free has changed your life and perspectives, if they...
  24. We waited until our son was 7-8 months old. We only fed him rice cereal, fruits and veggies in the 1st few months. Our peds GI told us to do this and watch him for any kind of celiac related reaction once the gluten was introduced. I also exclusively breast fed, but I wasn't gluten-free. He didn't really have any gi issues until he was 2 1/2, he tested...
