  1. If you don't eat gluten then you won't have a reaction. . .so you shouldn't wrry about it. Reactions vary for everyone. . .some people also have more than one type of reaction. Jeap, you can eat Origional Lays is you want. I know I personally react to them and on their site they say: "The above products do not contain gluten nor casein; however...
  2. Outback has some yummie things! I do McDonalds fries and my family eats their other options. P.F. Changs is alos a good place with a glutenfree menu!
  3. I don't make my own bread but I buy Kinnikinnick brand and they have some awesome bread and english muffins. My Mother and Brother (both Celiacs as well) by Whole Foods Bakery brand and enjoy it. It does take awhile to get used to cooking and eating the glutenfree products because they do tatse and cook differently. . .but after a few months they arn...
  4. It depends on the brand and such. You should call the company to make sure.
  5. I started to find the gluten-free food good after about a month or 2. . .when I did swimming we used to form good swimming habits by doing them everyday and after like 21 days of doing it it would be natural. . .I applied the same thing to the food. . .eating the new stuff (honeymustard, bread, sauce, and such) that I knew I'd be eating most of regularly...
  6. I know that is was an old question but if you delete your cookies it should resolve that problem.
  7. "an environmental trigger is required as well" Just like you said. . .you have the gene and the triggor. . . That goes along with what I was saying. . .not beaing breast-fed can bring about it faster but it not the reason why you got it.
  8. Congratulations! It does feel like a lot longer when 1 year comes around. You've done it this long and now you know you'll make it the rest of your life!
  9. I would stay away form salad. Some places have to make yours in a fresh bowl if you want it gluten-free. . .so you would have tomention that ahead oftime. Have fun in NY!
  10. If you are going to eat wherever is scheduled try for (if you eat meat) plain chicken, plain bun-less burger, or plain seafood. Ohhh, and you are staying at a nice hotel. If you call ahead and are willing to spend the money they will probably will make you glutenfree food.
  11. It is up to you what you put on your skin. Just a lot of people have allergic reactions to it on their skin or just want to be 100% gluten-free. I know I get rashes and such from products with gluten. Plus, sometimes I get shampoo in my mouth on accident while washing my hair.
  12. On ABC's "Less Than Perfect" Andy Dick's character said, "Is there wheat in the cake, because I'm allergic." Hahaha, I thought it was funny. I know there are people on here who don't have Celiacs but rather an allergy to wheat, so I thought'd I'd share!
  13. I do feel that way when having gluten sometimes. It's awful. . .and very painful.
  14. The subway can take you anywhere. . .and is cheaper than a cab. . .and great for large groups. If you can't do that a lot of these places do deliver! Where are you staying?
  15. It could be. I get rashes sometimes from gluten products. I use Coppertone almost everyday.
  16. Open Original Shared Link
  17. I didn't like most of the interview especially near the end.
  18. Manhattan is the best place in the world to eat!!!!!!! There are loads of natural food places there, too. Open Original Shared Link I was just there 2 weeks ago and did a little write-up. Open Original Shared Link Lists a lot! Open Original Shared Link Has a lot to offer. I rarely eat out at home but in NYC I will eat out. I only go to...
  19. Allergy testing is not a waste of time. She could have a wheat allergy and not Celiacs.
  20. I rarely eat out but when I do. . .I only go to places that offer glutenfree menus and have trained staff. Usually, the only things I eat not fro home are McDonald's fries, or something at Outback (never eat either of them very often). Whenever I am in Manhattan is when I do more eating out. Small places, trained staff, and a stong Celiac following!
  21. So, it will be wheat and not gluten? Kvogt, if it says gluten then it wouldn't have to list barley, rye, or oats. I hope it says gluten!
  22. Westy, that does sound like some of the reactions I get. It get scary with the pain sometimes. I seriously question a company that says: "Individuals who are extremely sensitive may be affected." Speaking of chips, while in Maryland we contacted Herrs, because they make awesome Crab Chips, and they said that their Crab Chips were gluten free but not...
  23. I don't know who you were specifically addressing, but I will answer! I never told my school that I have Celiac Disease. I don't live on campus and bring my own food. Sometimes I must tell my Professors and they are helpful usually. . .and if they aren't or don't get it I say "Medical Condition" and then they drop the attitude or say oh okay. I only have...
  24. To be honest, I wouldn't eat the meal either. I don't live on campus but I never eat things others cook for me unless I am at a gluten-free restaurant/bakery. I would rather make my own food or re-heat it, like she does.
