  1. here you go: https://dunkindonuts.com/aboutus/nutrition/...s&id=DD-969 it doesn't list gluten ingredients, but I would be concerned about CC- they might share machines, or even jsut the employee's gloves could be contaminated.
  2. good luck! I just wanted to add a quick aside...going to boy scout camp could be REALLY tough for your son. odds are they would have a hard time inderstanding all of the nuances of the diet, including cross contamination, etc. and he would have a pretty hard time. Think of what would happen if he got sick. Given that it's only a week, you might be able to...
  3. if you're gluten-free then testing won't tell you anything. but if you do have to have the blood test, it's really nothing. it's a teeny pinch compared to the excruciating pain you've been in all your life, and also nothing compared to a bone scan, where they have to insert a needle deeply. if you need to do, i have faith that you can and will :-) but you...
  4. My GI ordered gene testing through a regular lab for me because I was in the same situation as you- my initial bloodwork was negative, but I wasn't about to go back on gluten for an endoscopy. It turns out I do have the common allele for celiac, and that combined with my symptoms, he says, is enough for a diagnosis. The only problem is that insurance...
  5. hehe yes I'm very excited this was Green Tea in Avon, CT and I'm not near Westchester, but I have grandparents in Scarsdale so when I go to visit them that could be great...where were they/what were their names?
  6. thanks for the update! woohoo for gluten free in CT
  7. God bless the local Chinese restaurant owner. I came in just before the dinner rush, gave him a crash course in celiac, and he was sooooooo helpful. Not only was he pleasant and very understanding about the severity of the disease and the need for CC precautions, he even offered to make special food for me! He made me fried rice in a clean wok w/o gluteny...
  8. when I was at my sickest (only a few months, I was lucky) I got migraines once a week and milder headaches a few times a week
  9. I actually think the kinnikinnicdk tapioca rice bread is pretty good for a froazen bread, though it's not much of a panini bread. just thought i'd share :-)
  10. ok i guess this site won't let you post other sites...but google it. PS- I totally lied about there not being a group in my area. after 5 seconds of googling i found one right in my TOWN!! on this website no less!!
  11. I'm not from near New Haven, but I think I do remember hearing about support groups around there. I'm in the Greater Hartford area, and as of yet there's no support group near me. But I found this website: Open Original Shared Link good luck!
  12. meh, mine's actually gotten worse since about a month ago. i think it's acutally that my skin's overdry and overcompensating by producing more oil. but i've had problem skin for a while, although since this summer until decemberish it was soooo clear- i was on birth control and topical prescription cream. it was clear when i went gluten-free, no changes until...
  13. what was the context in both of these?
  14. I know that both my brother and I have violent reactions to gluten, yet our bloodwork and his biopsy were clear. I didn't have a biopsy, however. I had the genetics test and I have the DQ2 allele, so my GI feels I am likely celiac or at least "pre-celiac" as he called it. I was only seriously ill for a few months before diagnosis, though I have had scattered...
  15. I have to write a paper on this movie for my Government class. So, if you've seen it, what are your thoughts? If you are from outside the US do you have any comments on corruption/special interest groups in your government? Thanks!!
  16. Welcome to the club I'm glad you found your answer Make an appointment with your GI and tell him about your incredible success with the diet. If he knows what he is talking about, he should at least diagnose you as "probable celiac" (this is what mine did-- I was already gluten-free as well so testing didn't mean anything). You can also have the genetics...
  17. sigh. sometimes people just aren't going to get it... my family tries, but just doesn't. your daughter seems to be her own best friend in this, which is sooo important. but i agree that your husband needs to have a talk if he is ever going to be responsible for her safety. my dad has a "at least it's not a peanut allergy" mentality where he thinks it's not...
  18. is there a way to bake something like this? deep frying doesn't bode so well for my smoke alarm (kitchen pyrotechnics anyone?) or my waistline for that matter
  19. oh and hummus, I forgot that one
  20. brilliant! I never thought to make my own! thanks!
  21. peanut butter, nuts, avocado, olive oil (use to make salad dressing or something) peanut butter is my personal favorite, put it on celery for it to be starch/sugar free (or an apple if you can do fruit)
  22. I've found it easier just to bring lunch. In a pinch, I can get a premade salad...which is pretty much iceberg lettuce (they never have croutons or anything), sometimes soymilk, chips, fruit, things like that. Not the most balanced lunch but it works. Really I just find it easier to bring lunch.
  23. no I've been a girl scout for 9 years, cookie time is going to be soooo hard! anyone know of a gluten-free cookie that could support my thin mint addiction?
  24. this article may help you: https://www.celiac.com/articles/32/1/How-ac...ests/Page1.html also know that celiac can be brought on in predisposed individuals by stress or illness hope this helps!
