  1. The Wash DC area support group on Yahoo is for all the metro region, including DC, VA, MD. They hold their meetings in various places, usually close to DC, but may not be actually in DC. Their next meeting info is listed below. They have a couple vendors of gluten-free foods coming to the Silver Spring meeting and are taking pre-orders for gluten...
  2. Oops, nope, not a pizza slice, although I can see people craving/thinking that. Can't say I much of a rebel. It's society that is whacked, I am just fine. Well the stick figure guy isn't supposed to be scary, but I heard that from Emily too, so who knows? I guess the things that are scary to the opposite sex are different. Hmmm, another conundrum...
  3. Yep, I c your crabby face now Crayon! Whatz up, y so crabby? Costumes yep, fun stuff! They just done an Ofrenda, Day of the Dead celebration with a costume parade right before Halloween. Hi M-lee, Yep, that's my mug, or somewhat like it anyhow. Damsels actually like being tied to the tracks a lot if you ask me. They always...
  4. Yep, werd mad doctor experiments all-righty. There are some good threads on making gluten-free bread here Judy. The Most Delicious Home-made Gluten Free Bread I've Ever Tasted Uprisings - Reaching New Heights In Gluten-Free Baking
  5. Hi Crayon, Yep, of course you can! Quinacridone magenta is all yours, and very appropriate too! I can't see your mosaicatar yet. I live on Crapital Hill near H Street NE. From my house, you can smell the tax dollars burning, only 6 blocks from the hot air center of the universe. Old Town Alexandria is a neat area. I imagine you went to...
  6. I agree with Shauna, it is best to stay on the gluten until the testing is complete. You can ask your doc to run a celiac panel on you, checking the blood for antibodies to gliaden (the protein wheat that causes us problems). Docs often want to do an endoscopy also, to take biopsy samples for possible villi damage. Some docs will diagnose just on the antibody...
  7. Hi Alevoy, Since your antibodies are still somewhat elevated, you might want to look at what you are eating and change some things there. gluten-free cereal may not be entirely 100% gluten-free, chips may not be 100% gluten-free, gluten-free cookies my not be 100% gluten-free, any processed foods can be cross-contaminated with minute amounts of gluten...
  8. Hi Loenard Charles, Coeliac is a genetic condition, so the chances are pretty good that you have inherited the genes from you father. Doctors used to believe that children could outgrow celiac and they were often diagnosed and still put back on gluten later. Not a good idea, but that was the understanding back then. Celiac doesn't go a way, although...
  9. Sweet potatoes are another option. I can eat them fine but I can't eat nightshades, (tomatoes, peppers, white potatoes, eggplant). Cucumbers, broccoli, bananas, parsley, brown rice, mushrooms, leeks, onions, beans, there are lots of other veggies to consider also. I get gassed up big time if I eat peas, but I can do them if I take a digestive enzyme...
  10. You finally got the biopsy! Good going for sticking with it Loey. sounds to me like the amarperazole is a stomach acid reducer? Well, maybe they wil put you on antibiotics after the biopsy results are back. I have read they give people a triple package of anti-biotics, 3 different kinds to kill the h.pylori. Here is some info from wiki on diet related...
  11. I like that about the look on his face! My new doc on Thursday had a similar reactino when he looked at my feet. He seemed pretty freaked about them. But heck, they look better than they have for years IMHO. I've had that before, recognizing the out flow as being what was eaten earlier. But then again, why should anyone be expected to digest radioactive...
  12. Gee thanks Crayon! Yay, I nose, I stink they (powers tat be) have sum kinds of a delaid reaction on snooze avatars. My avatar shows up nu for me but maybe snot fer areyun elze. Sad face :-( Kindler, juntlur is butter! No more of the hed loppin' fer a while then. Whew! Hay Lowa$$, whutz the scoop on yur beeopski?...
  13. Queen Russet the great! Long rain the Qween! Wait a minute, isn't the 2nd term wear they start gettin grouchy and lopping off heds? Corrected a speeling mistseak.
  14. You can test negative on the antibody blood tests and still have celiac disease. They can't exclude celiac, they can only include it as possibility.
  15. That can surely happen Judy3. I got a lot more energey when I frist wentGF also. It didn't last a long time for me as I developed additional food intolerances. But increased energy makes sense if you think about it. Your body has been fighting a battle on two fronts. On one side your immune system has been creating a flood of new antibody soldiers everyday...
  16. Hi Karen, Yes, them are the encaustic ones. They are made from beeswax, resin and pigment on panels. I do actually make them on the stove, and use a torch too. Gots to use that stove for something when I am not cooking. I make my own medium also. Fun stuff! OK, Mr. creepy tringle is gone and Mr. SP is in. Now that's scary!
  17. Well gee Mr. Potatohead, why not come over to my house Saturday night and I'll show you a little creepy.. can you say pumpkin french fries? OK, I get your point though, my tringle guy has been around a long time, might be time to change him out. All these years and he hasn't aged at all, snot natural. And CMyst doesn't have to worry about undercooked...
  18. I saw a turkey in a wheat field once, does that count? Just kidding. I can't name one either. But I do the same thing, buy the ones that don't list any broth etc. The plainer the better I think. I can always add seasonings I like when I cook it. I have seen meat with wheat listed but it was in a separate seasoning packet that was easily thrown...
  19. Hi Brigdeofsighs, Threads won't show up instantly at first, as they get reviewed first. That is an anti-spamming effort made nessecary by them spam-heads. Not the kind in the can at the grocery store either. Although the canned SPAM is gluten-free what I read.
  20. Welcome to you too Judy3! Glad you found us. I hope you are doing well on your gluten-free diet start. It is nice to have beginners to the gluten-free diet come around since we were all beginners at one time too. Take a look around, we have a great recipe / cooking section with cooking tips and the ingredients labeling section helps with finding about...
  21. Ha Ha, pizza man is a tringle. I got on a short kick of making people and critters that were wider as they got taller. Decided they were tringles. So pizza man is me as a tringle. That flame-thrower broad in the kitchen is a little scary too Cmyst! Has she got something against fryed food?
  22. Welcome. Some people do indeed have withdrawal symptoms. Stick around and read read read and ask questions questions questions. :-) You might get some benefit from a pro-biotic and also enzymes.
  23. Thanks for the link to Dr. Viki's response CMyst I was very surprised to hear Dr. Green say the gluten-free diet is dangerous. The whole story was pretty negative about the gluten-free diet.
  24. How about Food for Life brown rice tortillas? They had a recall in Canada on them recently for possible gluten contamination.
  25. Hi Darkblue, I wonder if you took some Larabars with you if that would be better? They come in a lot of different flavors, and they are small so you could carry a couple around with you all the time. You could also look up recipes for other snacks that could be taken with you. Like microwave peanut brittle, or pumpkin bars, or hard boiled eggs, or...
