ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pizza At Zpizza - Northern Virgina!
lizard00 replied to Truleesmom's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
It's $3 bucks here in NC, I was surprised too. Everywhere else has the same pricing across the board. I think it's probably because they don't make it there, as opposed to the other places (I'm speaking locally based on my experience), and it is ordered from Domata Living Flour. Having said that, I do wonder sometimes if companies do stuff like that because... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Oops...how Soon Will Symptoms Onset?
lizard00 replied to Tim86's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi and welcome! I get a headache pretty quickly, but the GI stuff starts usually the next day. I don't really have gurgling or bloating, but my stomach and SI feel very inflammed, and when I eat it's 10x worse. It takes me about 8-10 days to feel back to normal, but the first 3 days are the worst for me. After that, I feel like the inflammation subsides... -
If you tested positive through the celiac panel bloodtests, that would indicate that you have active celiac disease. Some people have very high test results, but very little or no symptoms; "silent celiac disease." Whether you are symptomatic or not, you should be gluten-free as well.

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pizza At Zpizza - Northern Virgina!
lizard00 replied to Truleesmom's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
That sucks they burned your crust! But, I felt the same way when I had it. I loved their pizza before gluten-free, so I was really excited when I found out they were doing gluten-free. The crust is the best that I've had of the others I've tried (Uno's, Lily's, and I've only had Bella Monica frozen, but thought it was better than that too) so far. Glad... -
Have you ever looked into Serevent? It's a steroid free long-acting inhaler that's used in the treatment of COPD. I've not extensively researched it, but might be worth your time to check into it.

ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
lizard00 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
I agree, we cannot make generalizations and blanket statements. This disease affects everyone of us individually, my symptoms can be similar to another person's, but that doesn't mean we are in the exact same situation. In the beginning, I thought I glutened myself a few times, when in fact, I was learning about other sensitivities. Once I learned what... -
ARCHIVED Migraines And Tinnitus With Celiac
lizard00 replied to Sher B.'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've not had tinnitus, and my headaches did resolve with the gluten-free diet, but what I do know is this: You cannot overdose b12, so you could always try and see if it works. Get a sublingual b12, as it is absorbed directly. At one point I was taking 3 sublinguals a day, which I want to say was 3mg, but I'm not sure on that. Magnesium deficiency... -
ARCHIVED What Type Of Doctor Should I Have Monitor Celiac?
lizard00 replied to Grace Maureen's topic in Doctors
I would also suggest a GI. I go see mine every 6 months or so, too. It's usually very uneventful, but they should understand more about what the disease does to your whole body, so they SHOULD be more versed in what tests should be done and when. Mine also said that they would do screenings in me that they either wouldn't normally do, or earlier than they... -
ARCHIVED Do I Need To Fast
lizard00 replied to cat3883's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If they're just doing the tTG test, I would doubt it. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Cupcakes
lizard00 replied to Lisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's a tough call, BUT, consider eating the cupcake WHILE sitting on the beach. How's that thought??? I love it. Thanks for posting Lisa, I think we're on our way to Suffolk soon, so I'm going to have to mosey out to the cupcakery. YUM! -
I eat Wendy's chili when I have to do fast food on the road. I've not had a problem with it. As another poster pointed out, some have dedicated fryers and some don't, so if I'm in a fry mood I always ask. The last Wendy's I went to had dedicated fryers and it was fine. In the beginning of my celiac journey I wasn't so lucky

Specifically, no, I don't know the names of the tests. (Other than they're looking for an IgE reaction, which is a true allergy) I had an allergy test performed by my GP two or three years ago. I don't know what they did or didn't test for, I think they were looking for environmental allergies, but instead found an egg white allergy. That test was back in...

Hi there, welcome You can be tested by an allergist for a gluten/wheat allergy, and this can be done without eating gluten. If you want to be tested for celiac, what you have heard is true. You must be consuming gluten for both the bloodwork and the biopsy. From the info that I've read, and from what my doc told me, if you are gluten-free already...

ARCHIVED Enjoy Life Granola
lizard00 replied to runnerkat's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for posting. I'm going to try it again. I bought one or two bags of it, and had to have my jaw realigned both times!! LOL Seriously, I didn't find it to be very palatable. I'll give it another shot though. -
ARCHIVED For Those Who Were Diagnosed After Having A Baby..
lizard00 replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My symptoms appeared about a year and a half after my son was born, it took me another year to figure out that gluten was my problem, and another six months to be diagnosed. But considering the average time it takes for diagnosis is 11 years, I consider myself to be pretty lucky. -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Results Are In.....
lizard00 replied to Sierra's Mommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am so happy to hear that you have your confirmation now and you can start getting your little girl healthy. (It's always strange saying that...) Unfortunately, your story is too common, but it just goes to show that as parents, we do know our children better and when we know something is wrong, it pays to keep pushing. Thank you for sharing your story... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
lizard00 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
I ate at Five Guys since gluten-free, but it was probably a year ago. I got their fries without the seasoning, because I wasn't sure about it, and I'm not really crazy about it. And I got a hamburger. I don't recall feeling bad, but like I said it was about a year ago, and before I was so strict and payed a lot of attention. I don't think they serve anything... -
ARCHIVED Confused About Test Results
lizard00 replied to cdbase7211's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi and welcome! Do you have a copy of their test results? If you do and could post them, that would help. I didn't have a lot of GI symptoms. My two major symptoms were headaches and terrible fatigue. To the point where I could take a two hour nap, sleep 11 hours, and wake up exhausted. I never, ever felt rested. And the headaches were getting... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pizza At Zpizza - Northern Virgina!
lizard00 replied to Truleesmom's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
They started serving gluten-free pizza down here in Raleigh about a month or so ago. I thought it was great!!! And they are VERY careful about contamination. Hope you get to give it a try soon! -
I'm in Raleigh, and don't know too much about gluten-free eating in Durham, but here's a link that may be helpful. Open Original Shared Link It's got a few restaurant and grocery store reviews on it. Hope it helps a bit.

ARCHIVED Capsule Study Of The Small Intestine
lizard00 replied to Kathy Mac's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My husband found out he had high cholesterol about a year ago. He had the tests run, and had an appointment scheduled about a week later. So, no one called about his results, and he didn't think they would because he was going in. He had to change his appointment because of the doctor, and couldn't get an appointment until about a month later. During this... -
ARCHIVED Genetic Testing
lizard00 replied to Brainfog's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had the testing done through Prometheus. My doctor ordered it because by the time I saw him, I had been gluten-free for around 6 months, and he really felt it necessary to know if we were dealing with celiac or not. It's not diagnostic in itself, but in my case, it gave us some resolution. My bloodwork was negative because I'm IgA deficient, and going... -

ARCHIVED Gluten-free Three-cheese Lasagne
lizard00 replied to psawyer's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Lisa, We make a pumpkin lasagne and use uncooked noodles. You bake it for about the same amount of time, I would think it would work. The next regular lasagne I make, I'm going to try with the uncooked noodles.
