  1. Repeat after me: I WILL NOT ACCEPT AND EAT FOOD JUST TO BE POLITE!!!! If someone had made you a cyanide sandwich would you have eaten it?? Of course not. And that cheese sandwich is the equivalent for your body. Do not keep doing this to yourself. It is not impolite to refuse to eat something that will make you sick. Tlhere are polite ways of refusing...
  2. For the Anti-Gliadin antibodies and the Tissue Transglutaminase antibodies, you need to tell us the reference ranges the lab uses or we won't be able to figure it out either The raw numbers by themselves mean nothing.
  3. Your sister's and your Hashimoto's are autoimmune and as the pp notes, often closely associated with celiac disease. Now is your one good chance for testing; you may never get another because you may not be able to tolerate gluten if you once stop it. Is there any chance that you could spring for the DGP yourself, if your insurance will not cover anything...
  4. Hi Mickey, and welcome. Glad to hear you have been reading, if not posting before. If your doctor now says you are not celiac because you no longer test positive for it because you stopped eating gluten, he is an idjit. That is what is supposed to happen when you go gluten free -- your numbers go down because you stop making antibodies to things that...

  6. How much gluten was your daughter eating, and for how long? It sounds like she may not have been exposed to a lot of gluten in her life for such extreme reactions, even if her tests were negative. Did they run a total serum IgA on her? And if so, what were the results? The low D and iron, and the elevated inflammation (ESR) are telling.
  7. DH in this context refers to Dermatitis Herpetiformis, which is the skin form of celiac, a very painful, intensely itchy rash which blisters and oozes. Elsewhere on the forum you might find people referring to Dh meaning dear husband
  8. Not only does the ag equipment slaughter them, but they kill off what's left with their chemicals!
  9. The day is coming when we will all need to be able to eat MRE's on demand!!!
  10. Unfortunately, Julia, Peter's statement means exactly what it says - "until all testing is completed", including the endoscopy. The routinely accepted amount of gluten is the equivalent of 2-4 slices of bread a day, so you don't have to pack gluten into every meal, but you do have to make sure you are not eating 'gluten lite' As for how long, the estimates...

  12. By baseline, I take it they mean tTG and total serum IgA? I am aware there are often insurance restrictions on what will be covered. Sometimes.... if finances permit.... it pays to go off insurance to get some things. I am aware this may not be an option so don't let it upset you. I have been fortunate during the times I have had HMO insurance that I...

  14. I saw that study too, wembles, and found it interesting. Dr. Rodney Ford believes that the value of the DGP lies in predicting who will go on to develop celiac disease; i.e., that it picks it up much earlier than the tTG which is measuring damage which is already present, whereas the DGP picks up early celiac before the villi become involved. The study...
  15. The undigested food passing through is an indication that things are not digesting well in your gut. If I were you I would take a digestive enzyme with each meal to supplement what the pancreas is putting out, because that output might not be very much at the moment. Gluten has a very negative impact on the pancreas, and if the food is not digested and...

    ARCHIVED Second Day

Hi Chip, and welcome to the board. I am assuming you are diagnosed celiac since you are eating gluten free. Unexplained anxiety is one of the big symptoms of celiac that not too many doctors know about. Does your doctor know about it? Oftentimes they can give you something for it to get you over the hump, but you don't want to get reliant on those...

  21. What looks like fat and makes you fat, but isn't fatty fat? Answer: Edema. i.e., water, H20!!!
  22. I agree with Lisa. And I would add, your symptoms sound very like celiac; not so much IBD, which is really a wastebasket diagnosis when they can't figure out what else it is. Some thoughts about inflammation. Celiac disease is an autoimmune inflammatory disease. One of the first physical objective findings is inflammation in the duodenum/small intestine...
