  1. I use a can of black beans, unrinsed, and a can of kidney beans, rinsed, in my chili. I do use chili powder and cumin to spice it up. Chili is like the way we dress, imo. Everyone has his/her distinctive style :)and recipe. I also have a white chili recipe which is everyone's favorite.
  2. We enjoyed it very much last night. The consistency is EXCELLENT! Next time, I will probably use some coconut flour or almond flour, though. Let me know how yours turns out. I imagine the flavor will improve after freezing in individual pieces. Usually does. That has been my experience, anyway.
  3. Thanks! I don't do much dairy. Just put it into the oven using butter b/c wanted to get it done before starting supper. Also, made some minor changes such as used pumpkin pie spice instead of allspice. I'll let you know how it turned out.
  4. Thanks for the information. Note to self: go to the grocery AGAIN and purchase LIGHT olive oil and SMART BALANCE
  5. So, how would that affect the texture if you substituted 1/2 cup light olive oil for 2 sticks of butter?
  6. Sounds great! Also found some other butter substitute ideas on this thread here in this forum:
  7. Hi everyone, My weekend baking project is to bake this bundt cake. I just wondered if anyone has tried this recipe. I got it from: Open Original Shared Link It looks so delicious, and I just got a new bundt pan for a birthday present. Can't wait to try it. Will probably use a flour mix consisting of white rice flour, sorghum, and buckwheat flours...
  8. So, are you saying that the cereals on the gluten-free list on this link are incorrect? Open Original Shared Link
  9. Oh, I like that link. I've signed up for the newsletter before, but have never received one. Signed up again. So cool that Kix is also on their gluten-free list.
  10. I found this link from June 2009 for General Mills gluten-free cereals: Open Original Shared Link This is the most recent one I could find. So, Cocoa Puffs are not on it. I wonder which ingredient has the gluten.
  11. My bad! You are correct. They definitely do not SAY gluten free on the box as Chex cereals do, but I did not see any gluten in the ingredients and did not have a reaction after eating them.
  12. I am allergic to Mary Kay products. Still have a few scars on my face from outbreaks from wearing her makeup for a short while. I tried her eye shadow again, oh, 15 years later a few years back, and had the same reaction that you mentioned. I returned it and have never investigated why.
  13. The are not a General Mills product. That could explain why they are not on their list No, I never read labels, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only kidding, of course.
  14. Does anyone know if Cocoa Puffs are gluten-free? I'm reading conflicting reports. Many thanks for any information and light on this subject.
  15. GREAT NEWS for some Southern Celiacs. I was soooo excited and hoping they would have it in Carmel, Indiana, but naaaaaaaaa. Maybe soon. Hope so.
  16. I like Amy's as well with rice crust. I put my own turkey pepperoni and black olives on it. The only thing is the cheese is soy cheese...so if you're not allergic to soy...it might work for you. Hated Glutino's. Meijer sells Amy's for $6+ and Whole Foods sells Amy's for $10, so you know where I buy mine
  17. Yes, that has been my experience. I'm still ADD, but now I have "episodes" not constant forgetfulness. When I started back eating wheat/gluten for three years between August 2005-August 2008, I WAS hungry all the time, gained 20 pounds, and had gas when I least expected it and couldn't control it sometimes. THAT was embarrassing. Now, I can go back...
  18. MSG can also cause headaches. If you avoid that and headaches go away that will tell you something as well. Glad you're better by half by going gluten-free. Keep up the good work! I really don't care about test results as long as I feel better.
  19. Excellent question. I do know it is one of the many hidden names of MSG. Wish I weren't so allergic to it.
  20. Walmart sells Nut Thins in their gluten-free section for $2.50 per box. I buy them all the time.
  21. I freeze pieces of cake and cupcakes made with sorghum/buckwheat flours in individual sandwich bags (Walmart brand). They actually taste BETTER after they're frozen. Good luck to you freezing yours
  22. Yes, please share. My concern was always too many eggs and I was about to take the coconut flour back to Whole Foods.
  23. Looks delicious! Thanks for sharing. I'm wondering how many eggs I should use instead of egg substitute?
  24. Thanks everyone for your comments. It was my fav recipe by Bette Hagman that I make all of the time, so it was a good recipe. The rash is still there. Hope it goes away soon. Also, still have diahreah (sp?). I'm going to bake a cake from Roberts's book next that I like with a sorghum mix. Hopefully, that will go better
