ARCHIVED Moody And Unsettled
GlutenGalAZ replied to morelindil's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When your body is healing in the beginning you can experience different things such as mood swings, depressed, may feel worse than you have been the list goes on. I had mood swing, felt depressed out of the blue, some normal foods bothered me as well as other symptons. Your body is detoxing in a way I guess you can put it. Keep in mind that some cannot... -
ARCHIVED Help With Grocery Shopping
GlutenGalAZ replied to ANDOBEAR's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When I was first learning to read the labels and what to watch our for I would search on here for foods I liked. I would also do searches i.e.: shopping lists , dinner meals, lunch ideas etc. This way I saw what others were suggesting and having then when I went to the store I would look at the labels of foods that I saw on here (be careful of older posts... -

ARCHIVED Deciding Not To Pass The Gene?
GlutenGalAZ replied to WhimsiKay's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My husband and I are still up in the air about kids. We got married when we were 21/22 and said that we would talk about kids when we were 27/28ish mainly b/c at the time we were yes and then no. We decided in the mean time we would go on vacations, camping etc (our time) have fun. As the years went by though I have started to notice more and more health... -
ARCHIVED Doughnut Holes, Anyone?
GlutenGalAZ replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
That pan looks really neat. I saw it at Target couple weeks ago for $20 and almost got it but didn't. About how long does each set take to cook? Thanks for posting about it....you will have to keep us updated on how things turn out -
I cheated in the beginning. I had a hard time giving up gluten. I had stomach issues all my life as a child, teen and adult. I had no idea what was causing it. The dr's would tell me things to try/avoid but nothing helped. Since childhood I would eat stuff not understanding why I felt sick afterwards and would be curled up in bed pretty much crying from...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Waffles
GlutenGalAZ replied to Donna F's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What about getting a waffle maker and making your own? Make extra and freeze them. Would be cheaper in the long run. I have only made pancakes so far and they are a lot better than frozen waffles at the grocery store. I want to make homemade waffles though. I have seen a lot of recipies in my cookbooks for waffles but have been putting any extra... -
ARCHIVED Cross Contamination & Lay's
GlutenGalAZ replied to Woolygimp's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
How many people are in your household? For ex. In mine it is just myself and my husband (and two dogs haha). We are in the groove now of using separate counters. He doesn't really "cook" anything that has gluten so we use the same pots and pans. The only thing gluten that he really cooks is microwave things so we clean the microwave. I use the toaster... -
ARCHIVED The "best" Books And Cookbooks
GlutenGalAZ replied to sixdogssixcats's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have about 7 gluten free cookbooks. The one that I like the most right now is The Gluten-Free Kitchen by Roben Ryberg. You don't use any flours all recipies call for potato starch and cornstarch and most also include baking soda/powder. I just started to use it very recent and made the pizza crust -- turned out really good and the left overs were good... -
ARCHIVED I Am Totally Excited
GlutenGalAZ replied to imsohungry's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
What a great deal It is so neat to find such bargains when you enjoy baking. Have fun! -
After draining the browned ground beef I add in some McCormick Chili Powder, Tomato Sauce and some Pepper. All three things are added till the right taste is met. When I get to the taste I want I let it simmer for a minute or two so all three ingredients can warm up (the taste will disperse more) and then add more chili powder if needed. We use to buy...

ARCHIVED My Boyfriend Thinks I'm Being Dramatic
GlutenGalAZ replied to *lee-lee*'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
In my household it is just my husband and I ( I am gluten-free and he is not). We have our own counters that we use and we both clean up after ourselves. We each have our own Peanut Butter, Butter and Jam jars (I label mine "gluten-free" and or with a sticker). We also have our pantry separated I have shelves with my stuff and he does too then we have... -
Hillshire Farms Kielbasa
GlutenGalAZ replied to IdGirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We use to get the Hillshire Farms Beef. Sometimes my stomach hurt but I believe it was from the oil/grease. The sodium also got to me. We use to make mac and cheese with the little smokies but same thing. We stopped buying this mainly because of trying to eat better, we maybe buy it couple times a year or less. There is Johnsonville. I have not tried... -
On the Sonic's website click on Strictly Business and you will find the Contact Us button there. From what I have read on here in the past, Sonic's pretty much does not have anything gluten free. I have one right by my house but never go there. Who knows...they might have something you can get -- good luck Have you tried the Low Carb Six Dollar...

ARCHIVED Cookless Recipes
GlutenGalAZ replied to Karli's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Last summer before we got out new BBQ we used our George Foreman Grill a lot for hambugers mainly though, but you can use it with chicken, vegetables etc. -
I had trouble in the beginning too with rice pasta. Figured out that you need a big pot like jerseyangel mentioned and also move them around a lot the first couple of minutes or they will want to stick together (mainly true with the spaghetti noodles) I have seen this with all of the gluten free spaghetti noodles I have tried. When you drain them rinse...

ARCHIVED I Need Advice
GlutenGalAZ replied to nikiann's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Are you taking any vitamines? If so make sure they are gluten free. If you are gluten intolerant then you body is not absorbing the nutrients it needs. My dr did some vitamin defincy type tests and found that I was low on B12 and so I take B12, B-Complex and a Multi (Nature Made labels their stuff gluten free if they are). Everyone varies so much with... -
ARCHIVED Cookless Recipes
GlutenGalAZ replied to Karli's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I live in Arizona and its been 100+ for the past week (finally starting to cool down some ha not much though). During the summer we BBQ a lot. Steak, chicken and hamburgers then we put frozen steam vegetable packs in the microwave and or instant potatoes on the stove. If you make extra meat on the BBQ then you can have leftovers for the next night or lunch... -
Are you looking for just all around food in general or certain items in particular? There is a cookbook that I got last year but just started to use recently called The Gluten-Free Kitchen by Roben Ryberg. I forgot I had this book till someone mentioned it to me in another post. It is really neat there are no gluten free flours used mainly just potato...

ARCHIVED Thermos
GlutenGalAZ replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you everyone for your input Yes, the prices are kind of scary but I do agree good investment in the long run if used. So I have been looking at the sizes etc and will probably have to order it somewhere online b/c I am not having luck finding a good size for eating (not drinking) out of. I have seen the 10oz one so I am thinking next time I make... -

GlutenGalAZ replied to imsohungry's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yes, that is fine. Warning though I got mine this year and just started to use it past two so months so I am still new with it. Have only used the dough hook. The first time I used the mixer my husband was sitting on the other side of the counter and we were both watching it mix the dough haha. It is really neat the first time you use it all worries... -

ARCHIVED I Have A New Mixer
GlutenGalAZ replied to imsohungry's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have one. I was the same way when I first got it very WOW how do I use this, oh my gosh what do I do. I use mine with the dough hook to make pizza dough or bread dough. If all of the instruction books are the same -- Pg 16 shows each hook and what you can use each one for and Pg 18 talks about Speed Control Guide. Those two pages are really helpful...
