  1. Ericka -- Im self-diagnosed. I grew up having terrible stomach problems where I would be curled up on my bed crying from the pain and having to go to the restroom a lot. My mom at one time thought I had an eating disorder b/c I would have to go to the bathroom pretty much right after dinner. I was miss diagnosed for about 16 years. Last year my mom thankfully...
  2. munkee41182 -- I was wondering the same thing recently I was going to get some mason jars / canning jars (I always see them at WalMart and they seem like a good price) and store them in either a cool place (pantry) or the refridgerator/freezer, ha haven't gotten that far yet though. I have some really neat cookbooks that I am looking forward to...
  3. I love pasta... I have been trying some different brands this last year. I like Ancient Harvest -- they have ones that are called Veggie Curls (look like small elbow noodles) that have some flavor and their spaghetti noodles are good too. Recently I have tried Thai Kitchen which is really good -- they have small meals and their noodles come thin or regular...
  4. The first couple of months are the worst. To be honest the first almost year I had a really hard time dealing with being gluten free and eating what I was supposed to. I made a mistake and read in one of my books that you should treat yourself once in a while and I took that too far and made Friday my "bad" day with food and would have pizza or something...
  5. Welcome I have my own dedicated toaster (I feel that the toaster oven takes too long). I make my own bread and then freeze it in groups of two laying flat in a big zip loc (as many pairs as you can get in there). I put my frozen bread in the microwave for like 15-30 seconds and then toast it. I also use the toaster for gluten free waffles. My...
  6. Welcome to the board I haven't tried the already made frozen meals online (only pizza crust) but have ordered noodles and mixes online. My husband eats gluten and I eat gluten free so we both eat our own meals for breakfast and lunch and then for dinner we eat gluten free. In the beginning I thought I had to order everything online or find...
  7. Which sauce did you have (flavor)? Maybe your stomach cannot tollerate one of the ingredients in that flavor sauce. I have Classico Sauce all the time and have no problem stomach wise. I do get the after taste from the Tomato Basil though, so I have been trying different flavors. I am not a tea drinker but have you checked out the tea you are drinking...
  8. In N Out french fries are gluten free and really good. I would go to the fast food websites that are around you and look at the allergen/nutrition list to see what does not have gluten in it. You want to make sure the fast food place only uses the deep fryer for the french fries (dedicated fryer) not fries and onion rings type of thing. Ore-Ida has a...
  9. Have you cut out dairy? If you have not... a lot of people once they go gluten free have a problem with dairy while their stomach is healing. You can re-introduce dairy later on. Some people (not everyone) also have problems with soy. Does your daughter have any other food intolerances that maybe have not been caught yet. You might want to do either...
  10. I use Kraft brand Jet-Puffed Marshmallows which are gluten free. Your ingredients that you listed look the same as the ones I have. Here is a website that has company names that will clearly list a gluten ingredient if present: Open Original Shared Link
  11. I get Uncle Ben's Fast & Natural Whole Grain Instant Brown Rice -- says Gluten Free on the Back.
  12. What about salad? You can put chicken or tuna in. White Corn tortillas (Mission brand is gluten free) you can make wraps wtih the chicken or tuna. Also peanut butter and jelly on the tortillas. Fruit salad. If you don't like mircrowaves, then what about a thermos sometime down the road? I can't think of many things for now without a larger store...
  13. Thank you everyone for your posts Wonka -- The information you provided was very helpful. I copied and saved the info and even read it to my husband. I think it will be a nice starting point for trying to mix some flours together. WW340 -- I haven't heard of Sylvan Border Farms before but I will take a look at the site. I always forget about...
  14. I want to try baking and cooking so many things. I have some neat cook books that are wanting to be used BUT...I just do not understand how to use ALL the different flours to make a flour mix. I cannot have Tapioca Flour/Starch but it seems to be in everything. How do you learn how to mix the flours together to make a flour mix? I got...
  15. Thank you so much for your post. Silly question but -- When you buy flour at an Asian Market can you still read the ingredients to make sure nothing gluten has been added to it? What brand names (if I can ask) are good online names to buy Arrowroot Flour? Thanks
  16. I did a post recently in regards to replacing Tapioca Flour in gluten free Flour mixes. I got some nice suggestions that I could replace it with Arrowroot. Question: I have been calling around to different Health Food Stores looking for Arrowroot only one place so far said they have Arrowroot Starch. Are the Flour and Starch the same thing or...
  17. I got dizzy a lot while I was still eating gluten (before I knew anything about gluten) but the thing was I am not sure if it was from the gluten or from my medicine I was taking for my pulse and then switch to a different one. I have noticed though after being on the gluten free diet that I am not getting dizzy as much. Sometimes around "that time of...
  18. When I went completely gluten free I did gain some weight. Your body is not use to absorbing all of the nutrients you are eating. With cutting out the gluten your body is healing and you are now able to absorb the nutrients. Some people experience a constant hunger in the beginning. I had this happen about the first month or so I felt hungry ALL the...
  19. I haven't had any problems with the new Rice Chex.... Does the box of Rice Chex you got say gluten free on the front?? I have seen a lot of the older boxes next to the new ones recently. When they first came out with the new formula I didn't see any of the old box but recently I have. Hope you feel better.
  20. Thank you for all of your replies they were very helpful. I think I will try the Bertolli Extra Virgin Olive Oil -- I had it in my hand then put it back when we went to the store couple days ago b/c I was not sure what I was doing at the time =) Thanks again!
  21. I've gotten then at the health food store and Smith's (same thing as Ralph's and Kroger).
  22. I am wanting to buy some olive oil but not sure what brand to get. I was at the store last night saw Classico and Bertolli (which were the only two names I recognized) along with a couple other brands. What is a nice brand to get? My husband doesn't really have any interest in using it so it would be just for me and with how much it is I just...
  23. I've had similar thoughts -- thinking I have been feeling REALLY good for such a long time now and then I see on TV pizza or go to say Sam's Club and see the pretzels and hot dogs that I remember being really good. When you feel good for a while you start to wonder sometimes if it just all went away and you would be okay eating a gluten containing food ...
  24. Thank you everyone for your posts. I think I will stay away from the tater tots and just give the bag to my in-laws who can eat them. I did try the Extra Crispy Fast Food Fries that are on the gluten free list and had no problem. They were good. I just want a french fry we can have with hamburgers, hot dogs, and other summer type meals. Thanks...
  25. I use either Motrin IB tablets or Advil gel caps. Here is a link of gluten free medications/drugs -- The list is not always up to date so double check: Open Original Shared Link If you have body aches can try heating pad or an Epson Salt bath (inexpensive).
