GlutenGalAZ replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you for all of your replies, they were really helpfull. I am making a list of questions for my pre op appt with my dr and didn't really think about asking the hospital appt those type of questions as well (recovery area). I talked to my husband today and so we are thinking we will give the nurses a small baggie of crackers and he will have one... -

ARCHIVED Crumbly Muffins
GlutenGalAZ replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you so much for the reply. I was surprised to not see it in the recipe as well, I thought all bread type recipes had it. I thought I was somehow over looking the Xantham Gum so I even had my husband look at the recipe to just make sure (kind of silly) that I wasn't looking over it ha! I will try the 1 teaspoon with this and the half and half... -
It's beena while now that I have noticed and connected the dots that I feel sick after having things with tomatoes. Spaghetti Sauce (we have only tried Classico though) Tomatoes on Pizza Any type of Pizza Sauce I haven't had time to test out if I have a problem though with Tomato Sauce or Paste (assuming I would though). What do you/can...

Thank you very much for the reply. I appreciate it. Maybe I will give my husband a little bag of crackers to keep with him in case it is needed afterwards... never thought about that. Thanks again -
End of January I go in for a Laparoscopy. I mentioned to my doctor that I am Gluten Free and also reminded him that I am on medicine for my pulse. ARCHIVED Illustrated Cookbook?
GlutenGalAZ replied to bremac's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Gluten Free Cookbooks I have noticed are hard to find with pictures. Sometimes it is frustrating b/c it would be nice to see what you are trying to make (on somethings). Below are two neat websites, sometimes the person who posted the recipe did a picture too. Just put in gluten free and a lot of recipes will come up: www.recipezaar.com www.allrecipes... -
Does this happen everytime you have tried the bread? I agree with the last post on the dedicated PB and Jelly jars. My husband has one with his name on it and I have one with G F on it and sometimes put a sticker on it so it shows up on the lid (something fun haha). I use to get that bread in the beginning when I was still learning what other...

ARCHIVED Spam-gluten Free?
GlutenGalAZ replied to Amber M's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I get different vegetables in the Birds Eye brand but I avoid the ones with sauces, sometimes they have natural flavors in them. Do you have a package of the Brussel sprouts in a Butter sauce still where you can post the ingredients? Hope you are feeling better! -
ARCHIVED Medication -- Heart Medication
GlutenGalAZ replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Well I had my heart appt check up last week and my wellness exam this week. Talked to both drs about medicine and heart dr brought up two and my gyno said no to one of them and said this other one (sorry they are at home written down) that he suggested. My gyno is scheduling me in for a laparoscopy (nervous about) and then we will go from there. Pretty... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Prescriptions (birth- Control)
GlutenGalAZ replied to Grace Maureen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry I don't know if it is gluten free or not. I know Ortho Tri Cyclen is or at least was when I was on it. If you do not want to take the generic and are okay with paying more for the name brand you can ask your doctor to either put the name brand on the prescription and/or check the do not substitute box. My mail in pharmacy gave me generic couple years... -

Not sure if anyone has gone through this or not.... I take a beta blocker for my pulse and was wondering if anyone has gone through pregnacy where they were on heart medication? ARCHIVED Looking For Shopping Tips
GlutenGalAZ replied to tj's mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree WalMarts Great Value brand is really nice. We get their shredded cheese and some other items all say gluten free on the back. I also get Hormel Natural Choice says gluten free right on the box (deli meat). For bread I make sandwich rolls from The Gluten Free Kitchen by Roben Ryberg. I have tried a couple of the Gluten Free Pantry bread mixes... -

ARCHIVED Flour Blends
GlutenGalAZ replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you very much!!! Will be printing this off for my folder -
Can you have dairy? You can use regular velveeta and gluten/wheat free noodles and make mac and cheese (can also do shredded cheese with milk and gluten free flour). If you can have corn and dairy you can: Use Mission White Corn tortillas heat them up on the stove in a pan (will get them a little crispy) then you can either add cheese there to melt or...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pizza
GlutenGalAZ replied to CMCM's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have tried a couple of mixes and recipes but am finding it hard to find one that I like. I've tried the Gluten Free Pantry one (the frenchbread one). This is going back a couple of months but I remember that my mom and husband (both gluten eaters) really liked it. The way that I did it, it came out thick so they said it was like a deep dish pizza... -
ARCHIVED Adding To The Chocolate Chip Mixture
GlutenGalAZ replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you for the replies Purple -- Thank you for the pointer on making the oats smaller, wouldn't have thought about that. MNBeth -- Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure if the oats would soak up some of the liquids so that helps knowing that you didn't need to change anything in the past. I agree with you I bought the bag of oats all excited... -
Hi everyone! Okay this is my situation... I cannot have tapioca flour/starch but it seems that so many flour blends call for this ingredient. I do understand that Cornstarch and Potato starch can be subbed (did not do well with arrowroot powder). I have subbed with Corn/Potato starch in recipes but when it comes to the blends that is where I am getting...

ARCHIVED Adding To The Chocolate Chip Mixture
GlutenGalAZ posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi. I bought a bag of the Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Rolled Oats. I have been delaying in using it b/c due to time I was making other things instead. I have a mix and recipes for Choc Chip Cookies can I just add in the gluten-free Oats or would I need to add more liquid to the recipe? I was thinking of using one of my Mixes and putting some... -
