  1. GFree Fest will showcase some of the best gluten-free products and gluten-friendly restaurants with a full day of eating, drinking, and shopping on March 23rd, 2024 at WaterFire Arts Center in Providence, RI. Rhode Island’s first f...
  2. I agree with @trents, and this could be caused by nutrient deficiencies. The most common nutrient deficiencies associated with celiac disease that may lead to testing for the condition include iron, vitamin D, folate (vitamin B9), vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, and magnesium. Unfortunately many doctors, including my own doctor at the time, don't do...
  3. For me it led to full blown panic attacks triggered by severe vertigo. After years being gluten-free I no longer have these symptoms, even if I accidentally eat gluten--I assume this is because my gut has healed--but I never want those symptoms to come back, so I'm very careful with my diet.
  4. It sounds like you are self-diagnosed with non-celiac gluten sensitivity, but haven't been tested for celiac disease is that correct? Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary...
  5. This depends on your level of sensitivity. There are many things that are naturally gluten-free, olive oil for example, which will likely never have "gluten-free" on their label simply because they are naturally gluten-free. Many canned goods, salsas, cheeses, etc., fit into this category. I include many naturally gluten-free products in my diet, and current...
  6. If there was a risk of cross-contamination they would be required by law to include "wheat" on their allergen warning, which they don't do. There are lots of soy, nut and other allergens (and sugar) though, so it's possible that people may be sensitive to these other ingredients. https://www.mms.com/en-us/mms-candy-flavors/peanut-mms-1005oz/ct2155-p...
  7. Mexican food is also my favorite. I think in Mexico there is less risk of contamination with wheat because they stick to traditions more, but in the USA I've seen Tex-Mex style Mexican food at some restaurants that do some non-traditional things like using flour tortillas in enchiladas (I encountered this at a restaurant in Utah), wheat flour in mole sauce...
  8. Celiac.com 12/30/2023 - As the leaves change and the air turns crisp, it's time to savor the flavors of winter. Embrace the season with a delightful treat – Gluten-Free Pumpkin Bread. This moist and flavorful bread combines the rich t...
  9. You are correct and low IgA can cause false negatives on IgA-based antibody tests for celiac disease. If you have your tTg-IgA results, feel free to share them (please include the reference ranges). This article might be helpful. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac...
  10. For years before my outbreak I had a strange tingling sensation that shot along the same exact nerves where my shingles outbreak happened. I always thought that it was a pinched nerve in my neck, and even had an MRI done at one point to try to figure out what was going on. This tingling continued after the outbreak, but it was less frequent. It has not happened...
  11. I agree and don't think canned vegetables or tomatoes should be an issue for celiacs, at least as far as gluten goes.
  12. Many here have reported acne and cystic acne as symptoms...I had the latter when I was a teenager, and it was likely related to me being undiagnosed at that point and still eating gluten.
  13. I've tried to describe it to people as follows (it affected the right side of my head): It was as though someone sprayed the side of my head with lighter fluid, let it burn for about a minute, then put it out--for two weeks it felt just like my skin had been severely burned. I could not sleep without pain killers, and could not concentrate on anything or...
  14. Given your sensitivity level, it's probably best that you stick with items that are certified gluten-free, or at least say "gluten-free" on the package.
  15. I hope you recover quickly!
  16. It has wheat and it says "Gluten Friendly" on the container??!!
  17. It looks like they it's naturally gluten-free and have no allergen warnings:
  18. You may want to look into GliaxinX (they are a sponsor here), which is an AN-PEP based enzyme shown to break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach. There are many studies that have been done on it, and I take them before eating in restaurants.
  19. This is a hard one!
  20. Welcome to the forum! I can't speak for everyone here, but I'd say that most of us on this forum have been helped immensely by adopting a gluten-free diet--I'm not sure I'd be alive today if I hadn't.
  21. I can't answer your question about Shingrix in the UK, however, I did get the 2 Shingrix vaccines around five years ago because I had a shingles outbreak when I was in my mid 40's. It was such a horrible experience that I had to bother my doctor for over a year to get the vaccines before I turned 50. The Shingrix vaccine is very effective, and I've not had...
  22. Do you mean their Candy Cane Chocolates?
  23. This article, and the comments below it, may be helpful: Did you figure out what got you sick?
  24. Some people with celiac disease are more sensitive than others. Do you have dermatitis herpetiformis? Are you in the super sensitive group?
  25. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
