  1. I was off dairy and soy 6 months along with the gluten. Now I have no problems with either. Bring on the ice cream and I want whipped cream on top.
  2. We could not let our hubby's go to the store together, this is something mine would do also. Make pancakes!!
  3. Any way there can be a topic called 'what happened to my posting'? That way if something needs to be deleted or removed we would know where or why it disappeared.
  4. I so know how you feel!
  5. Andrew, Welcome to the gluten free world. You will find out how good you can feel. It will take some work and you might go into a withdrawal phase from gluten. Take it as it comes. Since you've been ill for so long you will welcome the relief from eating gluten free. Slowly go over everything that comes into contact with you. You sound like you may be...
  6. I love this idea of prepping food and freezing it. It especially would be good for a shared kitchen. You could clean the kitchen, prep your food and then relax for the rest of the month.Just pull out what you are going to eat and cook. It does take some planning but cooking gluten free takes that anyway. This lady is not gluten free so substitute gluten free...
  7. My dh was raised in the south so his idea of Southern Biscuits are in the link below. Soft, tender, cut out(using a water glass), not dropped but not falling apart. He was between jobs many years ago. While home I guess he was watching the cooking shows (he always had dinner ready when I got home from work!!! He irons and does his own laundry too). One day...
  8. You are amazing, you've had several brushes with death (recluse spider, 30th birthday, shingles and rare 3rd set of wisdom teeth) and you still are going with your great sense of humor!!!! You can do this!! First find a store that carries Against the Grain pizza crust, drive half way across the country if you have too, so you can make yourself some pizza...
  9. Tell you mil that I am a fan of her!!!! There is the great debate about southern biscuits here: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=65237&st=15
  10. My dh picked up vitamins from Wal-Mart the other day. We've taken one brand for as long as I can remember. He grabs the generic brand. I asked him if he made sure they were gluten free before he bought them. He now knows everything needs to be checked. So I emailed Wal-Mart. I received a call today from US Nutrition saying they make the 'equate' brand...
  11. I'm all for people to post their concerns over any ingredient or product. It helps us all learn. I know it's a law that food in the USA needs to be labeled if it contains any of the top 8 allergens. There are several problems with this: 1. Gluten is not one of them so it might not be labeled if it has something gluten that is not from wheat. 2. There...
  12. You'll have to get the package deal with those two items. A thinner waist is included for no extra cost.
  13. Do check to see if it's the xanthan that's the trouble. https://www.celiac.com/articles/21710/1/Could-Xanthan-Gum-Sensitivity-be-Complicating-your-Celiac-Disease-Recovery/Page1.html
  14. I'd try one. I would think if you tried it as a special order item you would find out if it was worth the time and effort. Yes, there are gluten free graham crackers. Let us know if you try this and how it goes.
  15. Have you had your thyroid checked? My lab results were normal, but low so thyroid helped. I also am not so bone chilling cold.
  16. I think the reason it is now so popular is the increase in genetically engineered grain. It has more gluten in it so more people are reacting adversely. Once our bodies are genetically engineered we will be able to digest the altered foods.
  17. My dh has suffered for year with stomach acid problems. The last two he has taken acid reducing medications for his stomach. It did not fix it. He's now been gluten free over two months. Just this weekend he was saying how his stomach symptoms have reduced to almost nothing. He is also taking vinegar or orange juice instead. Here's some interesting info...
  18. Oh yes, I am going to try this for sure.
  19. If your doctor knows you are gluten free he/she should be able to write you a 'note'. There is one lady on this board who fought her college about the meal plan. I looked for the thread but couldn't find it. Hopefully she will see this and tell you her story. She was amazing.
  20. Just because you tests came back negative does not mean you are not a celiac. You might want to try a gluten free diet to see if you see any difference.
  21. NO, do not go back to your "regular" diet unless it is gluten free. You have already been shown how badly gluten destroys your body. You really want to be as healthy as you can be for your child/children.
  22. Make something super good for him to share with his friends.
