  1. That is sooo cute! My daughter Eileen, who is 12, thinks anything and everything that is gluten free just sucks. Well, for Easter dinner, when my Mom was making the gravy, I gave her my gluten free flour mix and my gluten free stock to put in the gravy as Mom had forgotten to bring the stuff to make the gravy (It's made from the juice in the...
  2. Nope. I get the same problem. I get the "This Page Cannot Be Displayed" that says there is a problem with the page. The error page comes up immediately. Karen
  3. Hi! Welcome to the board! You definitely have come to the right place! It sounds like a classic case of celiac to me. Even if your tests come back negative, the fact that you have reacted so positively to the gluten-free diet that at the very least, you are gluten intolerant. Also, if you do have villi damage due to celiac, it is extremely likely...
  4. Another thing! I learned here that Swiss Chalet chicken, dipping sauce, baked potato and sour cream are all gluten free! I thought Swiss Chalet was lost to me forever because I just assumed that the sauces they had would have gluten in them. Of course their gravy does have gluten in it, but the dipping sauce is fine along with their chicken! Yipee!...
  5. Yes, it is gluten free! (Thank goodness!) It's the only thing that gets me through the day some days...... Coffee seems to irritate my intestines too much now...... Karen
  6. I'm not sure about the dairy part, but it is definitely gluten free. I use it all the time....... Karen
  7. Hi Greysaber! Welcome to the board! Regarding the "pinning of threads", when someone posts a new thread, it will be at the end of the category listing until a moderator reads it, approves of it and then pins it. Once it is pinned, it goes to the top of the list in that particular category. So the most recent posts (or more specifically, the ones with...
  8. Nic, It could be too that the terrible, bloated, disgusting, full feeling you have when you are constipated has been alleviated and now that he doesn't feel that anymore, he feels like a kid in a candy store! Either way, I would not worry in any way. It definitely sounds like his body is making up for lost time....... Hugs. Karen
  9. I once read that going prematurely grey is a symptom of thyroid disease. Has anyone else read this? Has anyone else experienced this? I went totally grey in my early 20's (thank God for L'Oreal Preference!) Karen
  10. I have the loudest stomach north of the border! I have it often, every day, numerous times a day. It is worse at night though...... The gluten free diet did nothing to stop it. It literally sounds like a thunderstorm is going on inside me. It entertains my children to no end! Karen
  11. Hi and welcome to the board! Yes, lightheadedness can be a symptom of celiac particularly with malabsorption issues, not only of iron, but other vitamins and minerals also. At any rate, you do have a diagnosis and your next order of business is a crash course in the world of gluten free living. There is no other place that is better to be then here for...
  12. Maybe now that his intestines are feeling better, he has gone on a feeding frenzy to catch up! Either way, I wouldn't worry too much - kids go through "growth spurts" then it tails off....... Sometimes I think my oldest is going to eat me out of house and home!!! Hugs. Karen
  13. If it wasn't for this board, I would not have even thought of getting my own toaster, checking my toiletries, knowing the hidden sources of gluten (licking envelopes, stamps, playdough, some medicines, etc.) Also, I have to admit my main inspiration on this board and the person who has helped me get to where I am today is none other than our beloved...
  14. I can't believe how many of us have dogs!!! It must be a celiac thing! Karen
  15. The best suggestion I would be able to give you would be to contact your municipal government. Contact the division that is in charge of inspecting restaurants to make sure they meet the standards. They would probably have a copy of it as they should be checking to make sure restaurants have it when they go to inspect them. Good Luck! Karen
  16. Hi Flochick! Welcome to the board! I sure sounds like celiac to me. There are numerous people on this board who do not have the "official" diagnosis, but have had very positive responses from the gluten free diet and did not want to go back on gluten for the testing. Any questions you have, just fire away. Believe me, there is not much that we...
  17. Hi Jennifer! Welcome to the board! When someone mentions "glutened" or "glutening", it either means that last time they consumed gluten or the last time they were accidentally glutened. Again, Welcome! Karen
  18. I was thinking the same thing. I wonder how she gets along with his family, Mr. & Mrs. Typical Midwestern Family (salt of the earth kinda folks). Karen
  19. Matt, El Peto is my favourite company for gluten free food. Their chicken soup base mix is to die for (I use it for my rice - it's delicious!). Their vegetable soup base is also good but the beef one isn't. Also, I love their butter tarts (you can get them in the frozen section of the Canadian Superstores) and their cake mixes. They are an awesome...
  20. Especially on a full moon! I still think nobody is blessed naturally with lips like that - they've been "enhanced". Karen
  21. Except her lips....... Karen
  22. Aw Lynne, my heart is breaking for you I just saw this today and was going to post prayers but you had the results on here already..... I am saying prayers for you anyway - for strength..... Hugs (lots of 'em) Karen
  23. Hypo here. My dosage has been upped and then lowered several times over the years but we seem to have found the right dosage Eltroxin 0.15 mg.
  24. I would assume that the GERD has disappeared naturally for him with the gluten-free diet, whereas if it only disappeared with the assistance of medicine to "mask" the GERD, then the probability of continued damage being done would still be there. Karen
  25. It must be the day for gluten-free to be on the tube. My daughter and I were watching Raven and Raven went on a girls retreat with her girlfriend and the girlfriend's mother. They were in to all this totally healthy/yoga/spa stuff and then she said they were going to have organic gluten free spaghetti!! My daughter thought that was really cool! Karen
