  1. For 4 months the gluten-free diet made my cycle longer (34 days), but it is now back to my normal 30 days. No cramps since gluten-free until the one I am having right now. And yesterday and today extreme nausea. I have NEVER had nausea before with my period. So I looked online and it appears that nausea is a symptom of perimenopause. I am 39, so I guess it is my time. I cant blame everything on gluten or changes to the gluten-free diet.

  2. Awesome!! :) Awesome!! :)

It gives me hope. I have not had a DEXA scan, but early last year at the dentist he said he saw bone loss of about 20% in my jaw. I am only 39, so this scared me. This was before going gluten-free. My teeth were a little loose in the lower front after I bit down on a fork accidentally. They werent tightening very well, but since gluten-free they are snug as a bug in a rug. I too am taking calcium PLUS all of the 17 necessary companion nutrients to Calcium and upped my exercise. I am due to go back to he dentist next month, so I am hopeful he sees improvement. :)

  3. What a beautiful pup!! Makes me think of what our Lucy must have looked like then. We have a white standard female. She is a rescue. We got her from Circus people who had over 100 dogs with all of them in crates all day with only 2 potty breaks and no play time. It was pathetic. She is partially blind and mentally retarded. But we just love her!! :)

Have fun and enjoy every moment of it!! Hide your shoes. :P

  4. Tracy...often "Silent Celiac" is dx as a result of the patient going in for something else (Diabetes type 1, lymphoma, etc.) As these diseases are very closely associated with Celiac, an astute Doctor will test for Celiac. This is how it is found. The patient might not have had ANY of the typical symptoms of Celiac....hence "silent"...but the disease manifests in one of the other disorders.

  5. Hi and Welcome!

First, it could be detox, but for many Celiacs and gluten intolerants, cutting the gluten unmasks a dairy sensitivity. For some dairy can be added back in 2 or 3 months later with no problems. For some it takes longer. And for some they can never tolerate dairy again.

For now, you might do well with cutting out ALL dairy including butter and looking for casein in the ingredients lists. Avoid it like you do Wheat, Rye, Barley and Oats and their derivatives.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  6. What am awesome post!! And brave for sharing like that.

Me and my DH have to reevaluate our marriage about every 6 months. IT is me who says, things are going South. And it can happen so easily without you realizing it. I nip it before it ever actually gets bad. And this keeps it from ever getting bad. It refreshes us and we reignite the romance and lust with each evaluation. You would do the same thing with a business or with your health. Marriage is no different. It needs work and care.....FOREVER. But that isnt to scare you. Like working a garden it can be enjoyable and oh so rewarding.

We will celebrate 7 years in January. :)

  7. It is tricky with food. ALL of the ingredients may "look" fine, but maybe it was processed on equipment that also makes cookie dough frozen yogurt and you got "cross contamination" or CC as we call it in here.

Many of us find we have to email or call companies to confirm gluten-free status. Unless the product specifically says gluten-free....you should call. To make matters even more complicated, now and again a company will claim gluten-free but use something like Barley or Malt in the food and people get sick from it.

No Wheat, Rye, Barley or Oats. And these things go by other names too. There is a lot ot learn.

You are correct that many Celiacs and gluten intolerants cannot do dairy. For some it is temporary while their intestines are healing and they can add it back in later. For others it is permanent.

Eating in a dining hall is a challenge. As helpful as they may be, they may not worry about the marinade on the chicken they serve you and it could be loaded with gluten. So even though you dont get the bread, you are damaging yourself with the marinade.

Also CC in a busy kitchen is VERY COMMON. Oops....crouton crumbs in the big salad bowl. They didnt even notice. But your tummy will later. Oops....the cut bread on the same cutting board that they cut your carrots on later. They dont even think about it, but you will when you are on the toilet.

You can get lots of gluten from a busy kitchen like that. Best if you can get your own food and know for sure you arent hurting yourself.

    We are here to help.

  8. Sometimes you REALLY have to reevaluate your lives and make changes if you want your relationship to last. You have to sit down together and make a list of what is most important in your life. IF it goes something like this:

    1. Our marriage

    2. Our family & Friends

    3. Our jobs

    4. Etc.

This is how it should be. But if you currently have that order reversed, now is the time to work on it before it is too late.

In my case, I went through a very rough few years. I started to sell my artwork online beginning with eBay. Well it was cut throat and with eBay fees very difficult to make a good profit. So at one point I was painting 3 or 4 paintings a day and churning them out like a factory worker. My husband would come home and I would be painting with tears of exhaustion running down my face. But I needed (or thought I needed) to make a lot of money and this was how I could do it. Killing myself. There wasnt much sex goin on in those days believe me!!

This is when me and DH sat down and talked about things. Sure like anyone else we had expenses and bills to pay. But we found ways to make it less stressful for both of us. DH found a few online course he could teach to bring in more income. I cut back on the amount of painting and doubled my prices. And we invented "date day".

There is hope. Sit down and talk with DH. Find a solution now....dont wait till it is too late.

  9. If your DH is the lesser of the stressed, perhaps he can help you out a bit.....the foot massage thing can do wonders. :)

One thing DH and I have done is to have "date day". Now our schedules are flexible (I work from home) and he is a college Prof. and can move his time around. So once a week we have "date day". It starts the minute we drop our daughter off and ends when we pick her up at 3:15. During this time we always try to "have some fun" if you will. It is nice to have one special day that you can make the time for it, so that if the rest of the week is stressed, you have something to look forward to.

It could even be on a weekend day. And if you have kids, it could be 1/2 day with them at a sitter, grandma's or if you can move your schedule around.

Dates are very important no matter how long you have been married.

  10. I cannot tolerate any scented candles. If I go to someone's house and they are burning one, I cough and gag and have to go outside to breath. My friends now know better. I have trouble even walking past the Yankee Stink Store at the Mall. I run past it and get as far away as possible. I could not even tell you what stores are on either side.....I could never go in them..... :o
