  1. I coped by buying a bunch of gluten-free cookbooks and started experimenting in the kitchen. I also kept myself active to keep my mind off the things that I couldnt have. I found I loved gluten-free foods.....it didnt take me long to forget about bread. I dont even eat ANY grains anymore and I feel great and not deprived at all. Hang in there!
  2. Now my digestive symptoms are minor to my neuro symtpoms (just saying that upfront), so I skipped the intro part of the diet. I just stick with the legal foods and avoid the illegal foods (with a few treats here and there such as sweet potatoes and plantains). About 90% on the diet. I noticed improvements after a few weeks eating SCD. My blood sugars...
  3. The sugar in dried fruit is condensed and slightly carmelized. Not to mention it is "dry" fiber and you can eat A LOT more dried than you could whole and fresh. Apart from having concentrated sugar, dried fruit is usually preserved with sulphur which can also cause gas and stomach cramps, D as well.
  4. If you do in fact have Celiac, which most believe if you have pos. blood you do, then CC is a problem. You must try to avoid it. If you stay unwell, you can suspect CC. Even if you get better, you want to do your best to avoid CC because damage can be "silent".
  5. I like Liquid Health. The calcium has the right ratio of magnesium plus other supportive nutrients. It doesnt have the best form of vitamin D (doesnt convert well) so supplement with D3 as well. Open Original Shared Link
  6. I do exercise everyday (almost) and have for over 20 years. It does REALLY help.
  7. That is true Emily, but a big change in diet can help manage it much better. Switching from a "carbohydrate" burning metabolism to a "fat" burning system really helps a lot. Then you dont rely on insulin so much.
  8. What are you doing for your Thyroid and your Adrenals?? It isnt easy to get these balanced and not just any ol doctor will do. You need someone who really understands how these organs work and what meds to try (there are many meds to choose from and there are no better meds, but everyone is different and you have to find out which one(s) work best for you...
  9. A little warning on the Xylitol.....you have to "build up" to it. Or you can get horrible gas and D. A little each day to build up and you will be fine.
  10. Ummm...no that is "not normal". Your mucosa should look like little inverted chilli peppers. Time for a NEW DOCTOR.
  11. Honestly, I feel every day is a blessing even if I am sick. I almost died at birth, drowned but was revived at 9, almost died at 13 with a ruptured appendix and survived a horrible car accident. Clearly I have a purpose here. I hate being sick. But at my lowest and sickest point I asked God to help me be able to mother my daughter (she is now 12) and...
  12. A good friend of mine has RA. She did the drugs for a few years, but had to quit because she was gaining SO much weight and it was starting to affect her liver. She has been off the drugs now for about 4 months and says she stays pain free by avoiding nightshades and grains.
  13. Knowing what I know now, I would have started with things like butternut squash, acorn squash and sweet potato for a few months (provided still getting nutrition from mother's milk or formula), then I would add some fruits and pureed veggies for a few months, then start on the grains. At this same time starting some pureed meats (if you are not vegetarian...
  14. Wow, 1,222 posts in 4 months! You've been busy!

  15. DH doesnt eat fish, but asked if this crust could work for chicken. I thought it could. So I Googled "Pecan Crusted Chicken" and found recipes. So I will try this same thing with chicken soon.
  16. I know what you mean. Most of my friends dont bother anymore. I always bring my own food. I bring enough to share and I am a pretty good cook (so that helps). I have a few good friends who like cooking for me. One good friend recently made me and my family dinner. Bless her heart. She used tin-foil on everything even the glass bakeware. She didnt...
  17. I am on the SCD diet about 90%. So I cut out all grains for now. No buckwheat either (it is a grass and not a grain tho). They really raise my blood sugar. More than honey. Weird. I might add a few back in here and there for variety someday. But honestly, I dont miss them at all. There is so much wonderful food out there and I am enjoying experimenting...
  18. I put the "Drunken Chicken" in the crock earlier. Will have it for dinner. Here is my version for the crock pot: 4 chicken breasts 2 - 8 ounce cans pineapple chunks (it is what I had) 1/4 cup Fish Sauce (it is what I can have NO SOY for me) 1/2 cup light rum 4 tsp minced bottled ginger (asian food aisle or store) 4 tsp chopped bottled garlic 1...
  19. For a couple hundred they can come in and test your air for mold spores. And then help you get rid of it....it isnt cheap. But if you could at least afford to test....then you would know if you need to move or treat. Hopefully it was confined to the bed itself and your air will be o.k.. It isnt worth playing with mold. Unfortunately people can get very...
  20. What do you mean by IgA elevated. They should have tested for total IgA and also the IgA mediated anitbody to gliadin. Which one are you referring to? You really should request a copy of the lab results. It is your legal right. She certainly has the symptoms. If they do an endoscopy and it comes back neg. they may say "no celiac", but the proof is...
  21. Potential Chronic Health Effects: CARCINOGENIC EFFECTS: Not available. MUTAGENIC EFFECTS: Not available. TERATOGENIC EFFECTS: Not available. DEVELOPMENTAL TOXICITY: Not available. The substance may be toxic to liver, skin. Repeated or prolonged exposure to the substance can produce target organs damage. ***Those last two warnings are ominous enough...
  22. I feel like I am on trial. If you type in "Magnesium Stearate" + "toxicity" you will find TONS of data about this toxic substance. Here is ONLY ONE of the MANY: www.sciencelab.com/xMSDS-Magnesium_stearate-9927217 Pay particular note to "Section 3". If that doesnt make you take pause, I dont know what will.
  23. magnesium stearate is a lubricant. The only purpose it serves is to make the materials that go into the capsules move smoothly down the equipment. It is toxic and should be avoided. I am in the process of changing out ALL of my supplements that have it with supplements without fillers. Yes they are more expensive, but do I really need to be filling my...
  24. OMG...you must be horrified!! I know I would be. Get a lawyer or contact the law suit....geez.....you poor thing. Guess you are bed shopping today.
  25. Im not eating grains. So here is what I am going to try. Dumping all of the ingredients in the crock pot and cooking on low heat from breakfast till dinner. I think it will be super. I will put over cabbage I think....sauteed cabbage sounds good for this meal.
