  1. my guess is that your Celiac is seperate from your TSH. and that like me, and many many others with autoimmune genes- you MAY also have Hashimoto's antibodies giving you a Hypothyroid. of course natural fluctuations may be possible- so it's good to continue to get your thyroid numbers checked. it is also a good idea to ask your doc to test you for all 3 Thyroid...
  2. is that why- 60% of the time that i snack on Nestle toll house choco chips- i get nauseaus??? is it the soy lecithin? im perplexed
  3. ditto on the reference ranges... i am iga deficient- scored twice at a 60... but that's below range for an adult. i think the range for a child is lower- but i dont know the exact number. as long as i eat right, and take all my right supplements- im usually healthier than most people. well... scratch that- i am pretty healthy- but i do have to eat perfectly...
  4. but maybe its not the case with everybody ya?? cause i have Celiac, Hashi's, and Grave's... and my TTG iga & igg were very very WEAK positive... never elevated. at time of my Hashi dx- my TPO were at 512. i had only been gluten free 3 1/2 months. and i suspect i had had undiagnosed Hypo for at least 7 years..... im very excited to hear that you got your...
  5. i was never a big beer person.. only had it maybe 2x a year... but i used to love snakebites.. went out to World of Beer recently- i tried the Redbridge- it was barely do-able, i dont think i even drank half of it , it was that bad YUCK.... so i stuck with Woodchuck Cider all night- totally YUM... my only complaint was i would of preferred a frosty mug...

probiotics are the good bacteria that your digestive tract needs- you can get some by eating yogurt- but there's tons of probiotic supplements out there too... unfortunately for me: taking probiotics is just not enough to fight the antibiotics- thats why ive looked to alternative routes
  7. **also jeannie & cap6: have you had your thyroid checked?? thyroid disease is common on this forum- and hypothyroid can cause relentless constipation despite good dietary & supplement habits- i had no idea till i got on meds- how much of my motility issues were due to hypothyroid
  8. i am trying my best to avoid soy because it aggravates Grave's antibodies.. BUT- its in freaking EVERYTHING- even my beloved gluten-free Chipotle anyways... not sure of my reactions- i seem to react to different forms of soy... i used to eat tofu and gluten-free soy sauce with no reactions... and miso soup too... but some soy byproducts in salad dressings...
  9. ohhhhhhh, if i overdo starch or complex carbs- i get constipated too.... gluten free baked goods, rice, etc- total constipation. i dont eat potatoes. i forget- is Dulcolax a laxative or a stool softener??? ive taken stool softeners before- and found them to be quite tolerable- not harsh like a laxative. i avoid otc laxatives, and harsh natural laxatives...
  10. you're allowed to complain here and again- i understand. altho i DO get horrific effects from gluten, and i have gotten even more sensitive since i went gluten free- im still not as bad off as other Celiacs.... i could probably get away with eating a bite of pizza- it would effect me- but i wouldnt be running to the bathroom with "D"..... STILL- there...
  11. i never had the burning- but wheat & gluten & SUGAR always make me feel like im about to be getting a sore throat. wheat always gave me post nasal drip... (always congested me more than dairy)... and sugar always gave me that "im getting sick" feeling... many times i would be like: am i REALLY getting sick? or is it just too much sugar?
  12. OMG- i JUST googled this today- because i recently found out im Vit D deficient... and when i went for a run today there was no sun. plus i still have a membership at the tanning bed (for vanity reasons) anyways- from what ive read- the type of UV rays from the sun that DO help the body make vit D are almost nonexsistent at the tanning beds. the tanning...
  13. no, in fact- i believe that WGA (wheat germ agglutin- another troublesome protein in wheat, not gliadin)- actually plaques up the joints- and Glucosamine helps to bind up WGA- this may be why people find relief when taking glucosamine. your new joint pain could be from other food intolerances- such as dairy, potatoes, corn, nightshades, or soy... ORRRRR...
  14. everything dixiebell said plus i would add: TTG Igg good luck!
  15. you DO know that Anemia is a majorly classic symptom of Celiac. it is SO classic. just like B12 & D deficiencies. i was shocked actually that i did not have any anemia. i CONCUR with ravenwood- no need to be suffering- if your son is eating gluten- he can get a test ASAP- and a FULL panel- (look at my signature).. if a doc had ONLY tested my TTG...
  16. im not exactly sure- mine was a little more crowded and blistery- but from what people say on here- they can look a little different from case to case. itchiness makes them suspicious. can you go to a celiac educated dermatologist- they can biopsy the skin ADJACENT to a sore- and test for the antibodies- if you come out positive- then you are 100% positive...
  17. ps- you will also start to get the hang of which restaurants are safe- or what safe things you can order off certain menus... it's a little inconvenient at first- but its getting easier- as our society is becoming a little more aware. off the top of my head- places like Pei Wei, PF Changs, Chipotle, & The Melting Pot have gluten-free menus you can...
  18. hey i understand how you feel- it actually took me another 2 years after my blood tests to go 100% gluten free. but i am so happy now that i am. do you have a copy of your own blood tests so that you can fully understand them?? because my PCP & GI didnt know what to make of my tests and just told me i MAY be gluten intolerant and to avoid it. well...

    ARCHIVED Antibiotics

i hate antibiotics as well- they mess me up big time.. so unless im on my death bed- i stick to ionized silver &/or GSE (grapefruit seed extract)- they're both natural antibiotics, antifungal, antimicrobial, and somewhat antiinflammatory so far, i have successfully treated myself (using GSE) in killing H.Pylori, a sore throat, and a UTI. google it...
  20. Clever! very clever
  21. keep in mind tho- that most Celiacs DONT have ANY gut symptoms.. a study from Columbia University said only 1 in 6 have gut symptoms. so, you shouldnt neccesarily wait for visible side effects to go gluten free. i dont know too much about false positives. what about the other tests??? antigliadin, endomysial antibody? these could give u a better picture...
  22. interesting tip- i think too that the stomach acid content is highest in the morning.. also in chinese medicine- i think the stomach meridian time slot is like 9am-11am before i ever discovered my favorite diet- i learned after years of suffering that if i was ever going to drink orange juice- it could only be in the evening... if i drank it in the morning...
  23. omg marilyn- i dont mean to be a contrarian- but we could not be food buddies at all, lol wow... crazy how opposite we are, bfast is the easiest for me- and i just enjoyed a spinach omelette. also- i cannot tolerate any legumes at all- and allergic fits when eating chickpea flour... crazy, huh oh, and i have to eat my bananas overripe cause of my fructose...
  24. GOOD for u for being so persistent!!!!! i dont know why it has to be such a battle sometimes- but we really to have to be our own advocate!!!! happy you stood up for yourself, and hope you're feeling better and better
