ARCHIVED Chex Cereal Commercial
digmom1014 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Did anyone else see the gluten-free Chex commercial? It is completely about being gluten-free. Doesn't state why the little girl in the family is gluten-free but, it is implied that she has allergies of some sort. Very cool! -
ARCHIVED Seems Almost Impossible To Stay Gluten Free
digmom1014 replied to bluebonnet's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I went on the web and printed out various gluten-free restaurant menu's, put them in a notebook, and kept it in my trunk. That way you are never caught off-guard when someone suggests a lunch. -

digmom1014 replied to YoloGx's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Oh yes, definately try that. I was never a brussel sprout fan until I had them this way. I also have made a meal of a whole Costco sack of them with bacon and onion mixed-in. -

ARCHIVED Dairy Again, Ever?
digmom1014 replied to OptimisticMom42's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Unfortunately, I think everyone heals at a different pace. I took milk products out completely for 6 months and then added it back with no problem. The peanuts, however, were a different story and much harder to eliminate for me. I just added them back after 2 years going without. I am also 45 years old now, gluten-free since 43, I think the older you are... -

ARCHIVED Sublingual B-12
digmom1014 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
How does the different types of sublingual B-12 effect you? I have tried both the cyto...and the metho...and haven't been able to tell much difference. The reason I ask, is the cyto type of B-12 is at Costco in a big bottle and is much cheaper than the one I use currently. Thoughts? -
Found something that helped and wanted to share. I was cc'd by Trader Joe's Chicken chili last night. Not bad but, was very gassy and constipated. I had just purchased a bag of Epsom Salts at Costco for sore muscle soaks. I read the following on the package: "for relief of occasional constipation, this product generally produces bowel movement in 1/2 to...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free "Pasta"
digmom1014 replied to Dylan's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I use zucchini and squash as nooodles all the time. Before I was gluten-free, I used them as an alternative to noodles. I have also used the "noodles" in soups. Cook the "noodle" first and then layer the soup on top. -
ARCHIVED General Mills
digmom1014 replied to Lisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a chicken & wild rice in my pantry right now, and it reads Gluten Free on the label. Also, FYI I got 10 cans of Progresso for $10.00 at my local Food Lion, this week!! -
This is what I do in our Japanese grill in Chicago. First thing I do is alert the chef at our table and bring my own gluten-free soy sauce. I don't touch the 1st course soup, it has soy in it. I eat the 2nd course salad with ginger dressing. The 3rd course is shrimp, and is just grilled. The fourth course is the veggies and this is where you have to bring...

digmom1014 replied to karenhockley's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Add me to the list! My husband and 13 yr. old son are gluten eaters but, do not cook! I have make exclusively gluten-free meals and if they want to make something on their own, so be it.(doesn't happen very often) I still bake for my son but, I too can't have flour floating around. (I got sick making fake blood for my son's Halloween costume.) I have... -
ARCHIVED Invisible Fencing For Dogs
digmom1014 replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have a Jack Russell and they are very smart. They also are very fast and can out run the shock of the fence. You have to ask the person that puts in the fence to adjust it for a speedy dog. It did not faze our dog to be shocked. However, since they are so smart and you are keeping yours indoors, the following training techique took me all of a half... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Pizza Request Sent To Papa John's (and They Are Listening!)
digmom1014 replied to ncflusche's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Thanks what a great idea, when I went gluten-free two years ago-I missed pizza in the worst way! Could you post your letter so other's can also request gluten-free at their local shops? I'm not saying plagerize but, I am not the most prolific letter writer and your letter seems to have gotten a response! -
ARCHIVED Storing Baked Goods
digmom1014 replied to nmlove's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips

ARCHIVED Betty Crocker Mixes
digmom1014 replied to digmom1014's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Great idea's-thanks. To clogger-maybe try subbing the chocolate cake mix-Betty Crocker or the Pamela's. It won't be as rich as the German chocolate but with all the other yummy's going on, I know I wouldn't notice! -
The product makes a smaller cake than a regular box of Betty Crocker. Instead of spending the extra money to buy a second one, does anyone have any mix-ins they use to stretch the mixture to a larger pan. I used to use the cake mix doctors book with plain cakes to jazz them up.

ARCHIVED Green Tea
digmom1014 replied to digmom1014's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you, thank you all for your posts! I thought I was crazy! I too can drink any other tea decaf or caffinated. I was drinking it for health reasons, and not feeling any of the benfit. I have since tried black, which I think is also healthy. Found this side effect, thanks ravenwoodglass for showing me where to look: Theanine is related to glutamine... -
ARCHIVED Green Tea
digmom1014 replied to digmom1014's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yep, pure green tea and nothing added-also decaffinated! I'm sure it's just me! -
Through elimination I took all green tea products out of my diet, it didn't seem to matter on brand. I used to have to 2 cups in the a.m. and have soiled underwear later in the day. Since I don't drink it anymore, I don't have any spots. Anyone have any idea why? I looked it up on the web and can't find anything. I was trying to follow the "drink green...

Have him try the diet with you for a week and see if he feels any improvement-for some people that is too short a time but, it might not be for him. The way I see it is, your cooking gluten-free for you anyway so, why make two dinners, etc? I tested neg. and went gluten-free and improved dramatically. -

ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take To Have Food Run Through?
digmom1014 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have always wondered and now especially, how long it takes for food to travel through your body? Once you eat something, how long does it take to come out the other end? I don't mean when your glutened, I know how long that takes! I was wondering for other food intolerances, when I unknowingly eat something that doesn't have a full glutening reaction by...
