ARCHIVED I Really Need Help, Badly!
RollingAlong replied to IHateMyStomach's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
First, eliminating dairy for awhile could really help with the sinus issues. You can read about the full "celiac panel", a group of tests to determine if you are sensitive to gluten in an autoimmune way. Open Original Shared Link You may be able to get these tests done on your own at www.directlabs.com or a simlar company. Their customer service is... -

ARCHIVED Cantina Laredo (Internatational Chain)
RollingAlong posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I've eaten at Cantina Laredo twice now. Here are a few tidbits of info that may be helpful. They have a "gluten sensitive" menu. It has several options, but some of them are not realistic. For example, the waitstaff will tell you that the chips are not prepared in a dedicated fryer. They occasionally prepare the special order of wheat chips. The... -
ARCHIVED Spinach Meatloaf - No Gluten, Casein Or Egg
RollingAlong posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Here's a link to a meatloaf recipe that avoids gluten, casein, and egg. It is by Barbara Kafka, who is gluten intolerant. She writes fabulous cooksbooks, and answers questions on her blog. I have Soups, Roasting and Vegetable Love and whole heartedly recommend them all. She also does a lot of microwave cooking. It is the recipe of the week, so you... -
In their own words: Why Fries? Because for too long restaurants have persecuted fries, treated them like second-class citizens, stuffed them with preservatives and MSG, and forced them to share fryers with drumsticks and jalape

huge sacrifice? This close to Memorial Day? perspective, please!! Seriously, try it for awhile. You can change your mind. With any luck you'll see some changes very quickly. The Enterolab tests will still work even if you've been off gluten for several months to a year if you decide to go that route. -

ARCHIVED How To Start Casein-Free Diet
RollingAlong replied to jabberwife's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
My spouse is very careful when eating out. I check all the supplements and vitamins. The immediate reaction is stomach pain. When casein was first eliminated, he noted mood improvement. -

5Fast food - 5 guys - they only thing on their menu - french fries. I've been told that the fryer is not necessarily dedicated at nice restaurants too - Cantina Laredo - which lists tortilla chips on the gluten free menu. But the wait staff told me that they might throw in a wheat chip every so often. I've written Cantina Laredo, but no response.

ARCHIVED Help I Still Have Headaches
RollingAlong replied to miaryan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Topamax is an anti-epileptic med and those can disrupt thyroid function. It sure did mine... Anyway, be sure to get your thyroid checked. Nest, try a dairy free trial as well. Many migraneurs report good resuts from this. Check into an anti-inflammatory diet in general such as PaNu (this is totally compatible with gluten-free and CF) I had chronic... -
ARCHIVED Maybe I Am Just Crazy?!?
RollingAlong replied to cblack's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My spouse's experiences were similar. Sister with ulcerative colitis, cancer in the family tree, all his blood tests and biopsy negative. He GI said "eat what you tolerate." 3 little words. no diagnosis. Positive response to a gluten-free diet. Statistically, it is possible that you are reacting to casein and soy as well. Be on the lookout for additional... -

I mean once you've been sick for so long with an illness, how do you remember what normal is? You can develop an intolerance at any point in life. You can have physical, mental, emotional symptoms. Or any combo, there's a wide variety between individuals. So your symptoms may not match your dad's. It would be great if he would try the diet with you. Maybe... -

ARCHIVED New Whole Leaf Tazo Teas At Starbucks
RollingAlong replied to RollingAlong's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hear back from Starbucks about the whole leaf Tazo tea - Passion. Passion HIBISCUS FLOWERS, LEMONGRASS, ORANGE PEEL, CINNAMON, ROSE HIPS, LICORICE ROOT, NATURAL FLAVORS, CITRIC ACID, FRUIT JUICE (FOR COLOR). The natural flavor is derived from corn. It took a ridiculous amount of time to get this info. I am not sure why Starbucks doesn't... -

ARCHIVED New Whole Leaf Tazo Teas At Starbucks
RollingAlong replied to RollingAlong's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've contacted Starbucks 3 times 2 emails and 1 call. Here's a chart of the Tazo tea ingredients. It is clear now that I miscommunicated with the customer service rep who told me all of the teas had natural flavors. Only two, Passion and Chai, have the "Flavor Known as Natural." I haven't heard back from Starbucks about the source. Plenty of choices... -
ARCHIVED New Whole Leaf Tazo Teas At Starbucks
RollingAlong posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I emailed Tazo for info and they asked me to call them. I spoke with a very pleasant rep. She told me that all the teas contain "natural flavors" and none of the Tazo teas at Starbucks can be guaranteed to be gluten-free. I wasn't asking for a guarantee, I just want to know what I am drinking. So does knowing "natural flavors" is an ingredient help... -
ARCHIVED Uterine Fibroids
RollingAlong replied to always0440's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here's a research center for fibroids that discusses prevalence Open Original Shared Link From what I have read, an anti-inflammatory diet can improve fibroids. I am not sure that eliminating gluten alone would do it. A Paleo type gluten-free diet might be better. -

The American Tinnitus Association is a really good source of info. There's some very interesting research in clinical trials now for Magnestic Resonance as a treatment for tinnitus.
