  1. Maybe you need to carry one of those liquor flasks. I've thought of that myself.
  2. You have one of the most well known experts, Dr. Peter Green at Columbia University. Open Original Shared Link
  3. It helped me. I can't really say when since it's been a continuous process with some grain here and there.
  4. I also had enamel problems since forever. A local dentist spoke to our celiac support group recently. They are trying to educate dentists so that they will point their patients with certain celiac indicators such as enamel problems towards testing for celiac disease.
  5. Do they peck at you too?
  6. I thought you might mean that, after I'd finished with my post. Thanks.
  7. I had the same problem. I found that I had to learn more about where gluten can be found and eliminate more sources of gluten from my diet before I could maintain good health. Depending on how sensitive you are, it can take awhile to learn.
  8. Thanks. I'm glad that contamination from the guts doesn't bother you. How sensitive are you? I was planning on giving them a gluten free diet because I thought it would be a problem for me since I am sensitive to such tiny amounts. To give some comparison, do you have problems with produce grown on wheat straw?
  9. Could they be put in a garden, or would they wreck it? What do you do about slaughtering them? The slaughtering question is also for Jesgar for chickens. Maybe I could get my husband to do that part. I hear chickens do wreck a garden. Maybe you could put them in a root vegetable garden so that eating the above ground stuff wouldn't hurt much.
  10. I'm glad that you are feeling better and figured it out. It can certainly be a challenge.
  11. That tri-color pasta has veggies added to it. Why not try that?
  12. That sounds interesting. Are they easier to keep than chickens? Do they take up less room? How many eggs do they produce? What do they eat? Their eggs are small, but I like them. I don't have space for chickens, but maybe I could have quail. How do they manage cold?
  13. Congratulations! Isn't it amazing how good normal can feel?
  14. That would depend her level of sensitivity. It varies greatly. In our household, my son and I kept getting sick until my husband and daughter also went gluten free. We tried everything in terms of being careful with their gluten. My son and I are sensitive to extremely low levels. From what I have read, it isn't uncommon for a gluten free household to...
  15. Did you recently add something new to your diet? Get cc'ed at a restaurant?
  16. It is a matter of trial and error. Keeping a journal with what you eat and how you feel can be very helpful. It can reveal other food intolerances as well as trace gluten issues. I try to only add one new food a week so that I can more easily tell what has bothered me if I do have a reaction. Good luck.
  17. I get bothered by most processed foods, so I haven't tried it. I did find this though: Open Original Shared Link It says that they are made in a gluten-free processing facility.
  18. Victoria's secret, you can get tops and bottoms separately too. You have to look a bit to find something that isn't totally plunging, but they do have some. I've got the same problem and I'm 10 years older.
  19. Wouldn't it be great if we all had microscopes in our eyes? I think that doctors act that way to cover up their ignorance.
  20. Though the vast majority of celiacs are safe eating the tiny amount of gluten allowed in processed foods, my son and I continued to have symptoms. If the other suggestions don't work, you could try a diet of produce and meat and see if that helps. That is what my GI suggested, and it worked for us. About.com has some information about this in their celiac...
  21. I suggest that if you try them, be sure to try a very small amount the first time. My reaction to oats seemed worse than my reaction to gluten, and it wasn't only stomach issues. It was early on, and I won't be trying them again to be sure any time soon.
  22. You can keep costs down by changing the way that you eat rather than trying to substitute gluten free products for gluten containing products. Have rice, potatoes and whatever produce is in season and less expensive. At the farmer's market I can get a big box of apples which price out to 10 cents each. At the grocery store they are more like 50 cents to...
  23. I either let it dry on the counter or I put it in the oven at low temp.
  24. As a super sensitive you would also need to sort it. I am surprised how often I find grains that don't belong when I sort mine. Sorting and washing only works for me if it is pretty clean to begin with.
  25. There are many skin conditions linked with celiac disease. Open Original Shared Link It could be something besides DH.
