O- is the Universal Donor BUT can only recieve O- blood in a transfusion. I have always had to plan ahead when having procedures in case blood is needed (I'm O-)

Only females with Rh Negative blood need be concerned. If you have the RH Negative factor and you are female and you get pregnant by a male who has Postitive blood then your child will have positive blood. You will build up anti-bodies during your first pregnancy and if you get pregnant again those anti-bodies will attack the fetus and kill it. You can...

ARCHIVED This Week's Gluten Free Menu
angieInCA replied to RissaRoo's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just called them last week (12/22/08 to be exact) and was assured that all of their hams and turkey breasts are now gluten free. IT is also stated on their web site under Frequently asked Questions. -
I've had DH all of my 47 years but only found out what it was 2 months ago. The DH is a direct result of what you have been consuming but YES, climate can affect your skin drastically. I have lived in various regions in the U.S. From the humid south to the dry frigid north. I always had blisters in varying severity but in the winter my skin would become...

Well, crap! I guess I'll just start making my own picante sauce -
I have DH which of course leaves me with very dry patches on my arms and leggs and face. I recently found Pure Olive Oil Soap by Kiss My Face and I have fallen in love! I use it all over but really concentrate on the dry patches and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing off. I've only been using it a week but I can already tell a hugh difference...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Shampoo And Conditioner, Cross Contamination
angieInCA replied to Swimmy's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Best advice is don't drink it! (read with a bit of humor here please) Really I would think you would have little to worry about unless you are using it directly. Rinse down the shower wals and curtain before uses and just don't touch the bottles. A shower head with the hose attachment is wonderful for quick hosing down of the walls and knobs. -

Delimex Chicken and Beef Taquitos are GLUTEN FREE. (always read the box though) I don't eat these but I have 2 College age kids at home so I keep these on hand. They can have them and I don't have to worry about CC. Also Pace Picante Sauce and lots of Corn Chips.....college student staple. -
ARCHIVED Just One Bite?
angieInCA replied to bigbird16's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Last Tuesday I snagged 2 french fries off my husbands plate that he had brought home from the local burger joint. Now I knew they used the same fryer to fry their onion rings and french fries but I figured 2 fries would have such a small amount it couldn't hurt. Yeah Right! I was sick for 3 days and the French Fries were the only thing I had ingested... -
ARCHIVED Laughed At When Talking About Food And Asparmate!
angieInCA replied to mr. moore's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
24 years ago when I first became pregnant with my Son my OBGYN told me to cut out all Aspartame. When I asked him why he said he felt it was legal poison and there was no data on how it affected the nervous system of a developing fetus. I never touched the stuff again and never allowed my children to have any. Now if I happen to accidently ingest some... -

I'm almost 2 months into the gluten-free diet. I have been lactose intollerent for as long as I can remember, probably my first Celiac sign but never knew it. I have no problem with butter, hard cheese or Lactose free milk (Lactaid) but cannot touch ice cream, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese, expensive milk chocolate (dark is fine) etc...... I noticed...

ARCHIVED Something New Going On
angieInCA replied to angieInCA's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My first thought was dehydration too but I drink pleanty of water and I've been very aware of my intake since this has started. I've avoided MSG but I suppose I could have missed some somewhere. I'm thinking allergic reaction also but I haven't started consuming anything new, more like I've eleminated alot from my diet. Hadn't realized a Hypothyroid... -
Recently I have been experiencing a slightly swollen tongue. Not all the time but every couple of days for a few hours. It seems to get puffy and ruffled along the edges. It does not hurt and is not sensative but does feel slightly numb near the tip on top. I can't seem to figure out what might be causing it. I've been gluten free for 6 weeks with just...

I think it is possible but you really have to be very careful about the type of resturant you choose. I have had no luck what so ever with the big chain resturants that say they offer gluten free items. I have tried on 3 occasions, 3 different chains and have been glutened each time. But I have had great success with 4 of our local privately owned...

ARCHIVED Negative Blood Tests
angieInCA replied to cmorrisaud's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
funny you should mention the diet. I too went on a carb-free diet that was by nature pretty much gluten free about 6 years ago. I lost over 30 lbs in 8 weeks and felt fantastic. The best I had ever remembered feeling my entire life. Alas it was a diet and did not account for healthy carbs so I decided not to try it again. I've been Gluten free now... -
ARCHIVED Negative Blood Tests
angieInCA replied to cmorrisaud's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Trying the diet can't harm you but it may give you all the answers you will need. I too gained weight over the past 8 years (65 lbs.) with no explanation. I eat healthy (or so I thought) exercised but continued to gain weight. This was a hard thing to swallow being I have never weighed more than 125lbs my whole life. I have had a multitude of problems... -
ARCHIVED Symptom Of Undiagnosed Celiac Disease?
angieInCA replied to debmidge's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hypokalemia might be a factor. I have suffered from Hypokalemia off and on for over 24 years. First diagnosed with my first pregnancy. Fainting and dizziness for no reason. Hypokalemia is a condition of below normal levels of potassium in the blood serum. Potassium, a necessary electrolyte, facilitates nerve impulse conduction and the contraction... -
ARCHIVED Best gluten-free/cf Pumpkin Pie Using Coconut Milk!
angieInCA replied to cyberprof's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I baked a pumpkin custard (pie no crust) today just using the Libby recipe. It turned out great with a bit shorter cooking time, very creamy. I think the coconut milk is a great idea. -
You should have no problem. When most people think Italian food the first thing that comes to mind is Pizza and Pasta. Truth is when I was there I found very little of either. You had to actually go to a Pizza place for pizza and pasta is considered kind of a side dish. Every where I ate had wonderful fresh meats, vegetable and fruits. I would be more...

ARCHIVED Not Sure If It's Gluten Or Lactose Free Milk
angieInCA replied to still.joyful's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would guess it's the cereal if you have no milk intolerances other than lactose. Maybe remove both from your diet for a few days then reintroduce the lactose free milk. I drink Lactaid everyday and don't have any problems. -
I kid you not! My jaw hit the floor. Needless to say I started looking for another Dr. the moment I stepped out of her office.
-
Your Dr. tells you that you are getting older and therefore probably becoming intollerent to Gluten. So go lactose free and cut back whole grain foods and you should probably take a daily stool softener so that when you don't have diarrhea you won't have to strain.
