  1. If you're not absorbing your meds, you certainly aren't absorbing the proper nutrition. Get the tests. The dr works for you, he can run simple vitamin checks.
  2. You could also ask for a copy of your original test and post the results here. Can't hurt to have a second look.
  3. Sorry your mom won't make the change. I know the feeling. My sister won't even get tested. But I can only keep telling them how great I now feel. They know I have the info if they want it. If they want to slowly kill themselves, they are adults and able to make those choices. That hurts me as I feel they put little effort into their health but I cannot...
  4. I would immediately go back to where your diet was when you felt so good. No eating those foods you mentioned that are prepackaged. Very simple whole foods. Keep a food journal where you also describe any of your symptoms. When you stabilize again, then you can add new foods but only one at a time and maybe one new thing per week. That way you should...
  5. You tested positive to tomatoes and potatoes. These foods are part of the nightshade group of foods that I have read can be linked to small joint pain. Other foods to avoid in this group are peppers, eggplant and paprika. Check your spices for paprika in the mix and if you eat packaged or processed foods they might have nightshades in them.
  6. We are going to be DH, Mom and my son and girlfriend and daughter who will be up from Indy for the day, bacon and pepper crusted turkey stuffing green bean casserole mashed potatoes turkey gravy cole slaw rolls peach pie pumpkin pie DD already called to ask if the turkey was cooking already. It's her favorite meal...
  7. Thanks for sharing that. It sounds so good. We've missed you but I hope all your work is helping your son.
  8. What's your diet like? What symptoms do you still have? Maybe we can help.
  9. You are so lucky that your sister is so supportive. Mine just gives me that glazed look. and, seriously, pecan pie from a bakery? That's heaven!
  10. I am self dx'd. It was a question of economics for me. I refused to challenge months later when I could have afforded it again. The difference in my health was so dramatic to me and my family, I've never had a doubt. If you can test, go ahead. It seems like you would find a dx comforting when questioned by others. You will have to go back to eating...
  11. I can sympathize. I am having some major issues within my family just now also. Apparently, I am on the wrong side of the issue. I have to keep reminding myself that I cannot control their behaviour, only my own. I don't want to be that person that is mean and vindictive even though it's done in what they feel is a crusading spirit. Be the bigger woman...
  12. I would have to say I saw improvement in some symptoms in the first week and others within weeks. Others have shown steady improvement over the 2 years I have been gluten-free. I don't know if what's left of symptoms are as good as they're going to get or it just takes more time but I know I do feel 20 years younger!
  13. Welcome and I award your dr a gold star for being on top of things! I would add that if you can join a local celiac disease group, your daughter could have the chance to meet other kids like her. I imagine she might feel like the only one in the world with celiac disease otherwise.
  14. Castor oil does work for pain, not nerve pain though. Cuts, bruises also are relieved with castor oil and it is a miraculous cure for burns. I have bottles all over the house and my shop. It's the best!
  15. I wear stainless steel inserts and those saved me a number of years ago. Since going gluten-free, two years ago...HEY, it's my 2 year anniversery!...so much more pain, neuropathy and other foot pain have gone by the wayside. I still need the inserts and I replace the rubber stopper thingees every couple of months but it's a huge difference. I can relate...
  16. I second the idea of a bug. When I catch something, it's pretty hard to tell it from glutening.
  17. You can give her time and your patience. Those levels take a long time to come down. If they are coming down, you are making progress. They just don't fall to very low right away. Just focus on her diet like you have been and it will be OK in the end. You're such a good mom to care for her in such a dedicated way. She is doing well.
  18. My symptoms kind of vary so I'm not much help. A food journal could help you though. Note what you eat and drink and how you're feeling throughout the day. I'm two years in and I still have some D almost every day. But I mostly have normal stools now. So I'm not sure everyone can completely stop the D. I haven't been able to and I'm strict about my diet...
  19. Has anyone ever tried ear candles? Are they effective for this type of problem? I'm curious about them and how they work and what they actually work.
  20. I am no expert on test results but everything I have read agrees with what you were told. It seems to take about a year to get the numbers you are already showing. It seems like terrific progress to me. As far as the B12, I can only tell you if I miss it, I drag my tail around all day. Two days without I'm back to brain fog, tingling toes, restless...
  21. I think that's a good idea to ask. The most they can say is,no, then you won't be any worse off than you were before. But, a word of caution, still take safe food for you to eat. When you arrive, you may find for some reason the food is unacceptable or CC. If you need to, you will have your safe food. If you don't need it, then just leave it in your...
  22. If you've been casein free then ingested it, that's definately top of the list. I would add that when you look at supplements that you should watch for casein and lactose as they are often in the mix.
  23. You have had some major challenges! I know it is tough with all you're facing but keep plugging away every day. I've heard Royal Jelly is good for the immune system. I haven't taken it but what I have taken is honey and apple cider vinegar. When I was getting strep, I read about it's healing affects. I started taking twice a day and I've not had strep...
  24. Thinking about you and hoping this is the key to your future perfect health!
  25. You can call your gastro and ask them to fit you into the first cancellation they have. That should move you up.
