  1. Welcome to the forum, Jo. We're glad you are here. Yes, you can have negative bloodwork and positive results of an endoscopy. If you are IGA deficient, you will probably never test positive on your celiac panel. Your positive biopsy should be enough to dx you but if your dr's are still wavering, you can go right on the gluten-free diet, yet today, and...
  2. Oh yeah, you can react to gluten that fast. Is that your typical gluten symptom?
  3. Two weeks is a short time to overcome a lifetime of eating gluten. Sneaky gluten could be finding it's way to you or it could just be a matter of you need more time. Tighten up your diet to see if you can find a way to eat that stops the D. I see you're eating fruit. I couldn't tolerate any fruit for a few months in. Now I can eat any fruit I want but...

    ARCHIVED Frustrated

I know how you feel. I sometimes wonder what in the world are going to them for? I'm starting to think it is our perception of them though. We think they should be educated on any condition we throw at them, we think they should research any set of symptoms until the light bulb comes on and the dx reveals itself, we think they should be digging for the...
  5. This change must seem like a huge mountain that you see no way to surmount and no way over. But if you turn the mountain a few degrees you may notice a path up the side that you didn't see before. Turn to another angle and you notice a train that chugs through the mountain to the other side. Walk a little more around the mountain and you run into a guide...
  6. Maybe if you're very sensitive, but you mentioned smothies so that since the time you mentioned, you have been washing the blender. If you were reacting after you yourself washed it, then it doesn't sound like CC to me. What were your symptoms?
  7. You're not alone. It's super tough dealing with life then dumping these big changes on top of it just seems to send you 'round the bend at times. You are going to grieve for this loss in your life. That gluten part of your life died and you have to mourn it. There will come a point when you realize that no matter how much you've lost, you've gained...
  8. For family I like to put together a scrapbook of pictures that I have of their side of the family. These usually are pictures we took that we kept but they don't have and have probably never seen. It's greatly appreciated especially if you happen to run across any memorabilia like an old letter or card from their relative or them that they've forgotton...
  9. I was thinking that about any candy pressed into the no flour peanut butter cookies would be good!
  10. I will post my recipe that I shared last year for the easiest and best tasting turkey ever. When we moved to Flagstaff, AZ my husband worked in a 4 star hotel and naturally became friendly with the chef. Natually because my husband is always looking out for his stomach! The chef taught him this method to cook the turkey which he has done every year since...
  11. I've always used soy milk and no one noticed the difference but I wonder if coconut milk added would be thicker and really good? I've been using it in a lot of dishes and it's good in everything so far.
  12. Being lactose intolerant is different than a milk (casein) allergy. The allergy is a histamine reaction that can also spill over into headaches as a result of the reaction to the protein in dairy. Lactose is the sugar in dairy that many of us cannot fully digest. This leads to many gastro problems. Celiac disease shows as damage to the villi in the...
  13. Two doctors trump one nurse practitioner. Yahtzee!! You have celiac disease!!
  14. For constipation, increase your magnesium intake. I take around 700 mgs. Dr. Carolyn Dean recommends 600 mg's for an average adult. You can't take the whole amount to start. Start with a low dose and increase every 3 - 4 days until you reach your ideal dose. If you start to experience loose stools, back off to a comfortable dose.
  15. I don't really know of anything that helps the bloating except time and healing. For some it takes awhile for it to go down. It can also point to other sensitivities like dairy. Do you still eat dairy? You might want to take a vacation from it for a bit. You might be able to go back to it later after you heal some. You might be getting some sneaky gluten...
  16. I agree that adding healthy fats is necesary to feeding your body's muscles. Add coconut milk and coconut oil several times a day in addition to the other suggestions. The high protein diet is good too but your body needs the healthy fats.
  17. I'm sorry you had to go through that. It is tough to eat out. I'm lucky to have found a couple of local places to eat a dish or two. I can't have anything too exciting but I'm looking forward to eating at a fancy Italian place in Ft. Wayne that has a gluten-free menu. It's pricey so I'm saving up but it will be great! You know it just takes time...
  18. I always advise anyone taking antibiotics to have a yogurt every day to keep the good bacteria going.
  19. I would totally disagree with your dr. You go off gluten completely not slowly. Slowly will not help you avoid withdrawals, if you're going to have them, not everyone does. Slowly will just keep damaging your gut and any other organs it might be affecting. You also do not eat gluten occasionally if you are gluten intolerant and not at the celiac stage...
  20. Both the protein and high quality fats are both items that the celiac disease body needs. I vote for those.
  21. I found I liked corn tortillas better than any bread I tasted. I liked them toasted in my toaster just like bread. With butter or added jelly and peanut butter. He might like them just rolled with butter or fried in butter with melted cheese on top. If you toast them a couple of times till they are a little crispy, they make a great base for pizza. ...
  22. I make nuggets that way too but sometimes I use boneless thighs as we like dark meat. The organic ones we buy now seem to be especially tender.
  23. I like cheese sticks, grapes, trail mix, nuts, Lara bars, Funyuns, pouches of tuna, cans of chicken or beef.
  24. I think the above advice is good. Iron is a big one that contributes to energy but you also could use a B complex and a sublingual B12 on top of that. I would make sure you're getting enough manesium, Dr. Carolyn Dean suggests 600 mg for a normal sized adult. Vitamin D is huge and your dr will run a normal blood CBC on you for other problems like thyroid...
  25. Your coffee pots have lids, right?
