ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerant Dh Thinking Of Going Back To Gluten
ang1e0251 replied to halfrunner's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That is great progress!! It's very cool to have a spouse who will listen and think about your reasons even if it means big changes. -
of course I will try, I have to. Thank you all so much for this help. Right now I want to know, what would you do about this?? My middle son will turn 10 tomorrow, and he wants Lasagna and Cheesecake for his birthday meal! I think I can make the cheesecake with a premade crust because I'm not going to be eating that anyway, but the lasagna, I can't make...

ARCHIVED 2 Year Old And Dairy Products
ang1e0251 replied to R.Cox's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It's just precaution because so many have a lactose problem in the beginning. You may think he doesn't but the symptoms can be masked by the over all celiac disease symptoms. If you take him off fresh milk products in the beginning, you will be one step ahead in his healing if there's a chance it's a problem. In a few weeks you can reintroduce it and see... -
I am taking magnesium tho they said mine was normal, vitamin D because mine is low, iron because mine is low, and I'm supposed to start some B vitamins, my B1 is low and my B2 is low, and I'm waiting on my B12 test. Check how much magnesium you're taking. The amounts that are supposed to be in the normal range some dr's say is not enough. I read...

ARCHIVED Advice For Business Travel?
ang1e0251 replied to Tim-M's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
For meals provided on site, I just assume they will not be safe and take my own food. You can find out in advance who will provide the meal and talk to them about acommodating you but what if it arrives and it is wrong? You will be hungry. Always, always take something with you. You can buy something safe the night before that you can eat cold or take... -
ARCHIVED Anybody Had Esophagus Spasms?
ang1e0251 replied to motif's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I read a story about someone with those spasms on Dr. Carolyn Dean's website. He stopped his with liquid magnesium. Are you taking magnesium regularly? It relaxes the muscles and blood vessels. She recommends 600 mg's for a normal adult. I take a little more than that and it has helped me a lot. -
Do you think just inhaling it can be a problem? Because I did make them brownies and muffins twice in the past week. And when I dumped the mix into the bowl it did go into the air. I wiped everything down really well after but I didn't really think about breathing it in. I am fanatically wiping everything down all the time now, and I'm driving myself...

Sounds like you have low blood sugar in the morning. I do too. I munch on Hormel Natural ham if I can't make it till breakfast. It's good advice to increase your protein intake. Have protein with every meal and in between snacks. Don't worry about weight at this point. Let your body eat as much safe food as it needs. The huge hunger will pass in time...

ARCHIVED Can Someone Please Help Me Figure This Out :(
ang1e0251 replied to imracin68j's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I feel I live a very full life with celiac disease. I eat out with friends, run my own business, entertain guests, attend church functions, weddings, shopping trips, go to the movies and on vacation. In short, I participate in everything I did before I was dx'd. I don't let wheat rule my life, it's only food. I enjoy better health than I have in 20 years... -
ARCHIVED Still Having Symptoms
ang1e0251 replied to hazeleyez682's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Don't worry, it shouldn't take two years before you have improvement. You should see some improvement very soon. It can take a couple of years for serious damage to heal and some people never heal completely all the way. But most are going to feel good very soon after starting the diet. You can feel good, then have a set back and maybe even find you can... -
ARCHIVED One Year Checkup
ang1e0251 replied to cat3883's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I dx'd myself right before my 50th birthday and I agree with you both, I tell everyone that I feel better than I have in 20 years! I feel like I'm aging backwards and getting younger every day! -
ARCHIVED Baby Constipation Problems
ang1e0251 replied to MinRalph's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Do her vitamins have iron? My son became constipated from the iron in his vitamins. -
ARCHIVED Playgroups And Toddlers
ang1e0251 replied to RobynJ's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It's kind of like when we played Sharks as kids. You know, where the dark squares on the floor were sharks and the light squares were safe? You had to be careful not to even touch a dark square or you were shark bait! If you went to your friend's house and sprayed magic spray all around, every place where a gluteny hand or crumb had touched would turn... -
Congrats on the meat! Sounds yummy! Do you think you were reacting to the guar gum in the coconut milk? I can use small amounts but like a whole pudding with it does not sit well.

ARCHIVED Subtle Symptoms Are Frustrating
ang1e0251 replied to soulcurrent's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sometimes I wish we were like the pipe people in the commercial, the ones that can open a little door to their insides and check the gage to see how their feeling. If we could see the internal damage it would sure be helpful. Since we can't, we have to rely on occasional testing to see how we're doing. It's true, you will be more aware than ever of the... -
ARCHIVED I Get Chronically Hungry When I Eat Gluten
ang1e0251 replied to KipperCat's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
One of my glutening symptoms is insatiable hunger. My stomach can feel full from a big meal but I cannot be satisfied. That's part of how I became overweight. If I'm glutened I just let my body eat as much as it wants of safe food. I try to make gluten-free noodle soup. That goes a long way. I know it will pass in day or two but it sure is discouraging... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Worse Since Diagnosis
ang1e0251 replied to Mysh's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for your reply. I'm not currently on any medication and am I'm pretty sure I'm eating totally gluten-free - but I guess of course cc is always a possibility. Like you said, DH may be because I am getting cc and not realising it. My DH does not flare unless I'm glutened. I agree you need to search for sneaky gluten. Terrible nights... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Thanksgiving
ang1e0251 replied to KahleFamily's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I think the crumbly cookies would make an awesome crust to cheesecake! -
And going out for dinner, going to parties, anything social. I feel like a hermit because I don't like to go out anymore and deal with it. I hate feeling *different* or *needy*. I would say this is your perception and no one elses. Is that how you judge others? If your friend is diabetic do feel they are "needy" for looking for a sugar free drink...

I am exhausted from trying to cover the bases, I need a gluten free toothpaste, asprin and ibuprophan, as well as benedryl are gluten-free. I am paranoid about makeup, lipstick, chapstick, lotions, shampoos, so I quit using almost all of it. I am too tired to research every little thing . You might invest in one of the gluten-free product books so...

I can't visit other people right now because I see all the food they're eating that I can't have and I just want to hit people in Wal-Mart with normal cereal and pasta in their carts. When I was at that stage I started visualizing all the gluteny things I saw as poisoned. I pretended they had poison ivy in them, imagine ingesting poison ivy! Other...

ARCHIVED Ugh So Bummed...
ang1e0251 replied to Heahterisadork's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your tests look incomplete to me. I don't see a total IGA there at all. So I would agree with the above advice. Go gluten-free now and your progress will be your answer. Remember testing isn't all it's cracked up to be for celiac disease at this time. Some folks who test like you do slip between the cracks when they really are sick. The only way to...
