  1. When you get your test results, post them here. If they really are positive for celiac disease, you could call ahead to your GI and show them the test and ask them to move the biopsy up to your app't date. They might not go for it but you never know, they could say yes. It's not that common for small children to test blood positive. They might take...
  2. Post your DNA test results here. There are those who are well versed in genetics and could give you more info than might have been available at the time.
  3. The chips might be made in a shared facility. I can eat 10 bags of Lays potato chips and be fine. But the 11th bag will make me sick. They are made in a shared facility so eating them is like Russian roulette. Also it sounds like you are very sensitive. Some posters have said they could not be well until they made their house gluten free, down to...
  4. What were the other ingredients in your bars? You said fruit which I had a very hard time with in the beginning. What else was in them?
  5. Damaged villi sounds like celiac disease to me. Ask for your own copy of the bloodwork and other tests. She could have read it wrong also.
  6. Are his stools mucousy like that when you eat gluten and he doesn't? It can pass through breast milk, I understand.
  7. I took an extra magnesium today. I have a massage appt. later. I feel like crap I have D and muscle pain. Does anyone think that massage will be good or bad on a day like this. I certainly dont want to feel worse tommorrow! Just wanted to tell you to spread your mag. doses around. Don't take them all at once. Take morning and night. I'm starting...
  8. Have you tried magnesium or sublingual b12? I learned about those for celiacs on this site. I have to say they have both helped though my symptoms still linger. Im starting to think taht my vitamins get really depleated during my menstral cycle and every time it takes a week or two to get them back on track. Does anyone think hormones are a factor? Will this...
  9. I think what everyone is saying is that if your daughter doesn't have celiac disease, isn't allergic to wheat or isn't gluten intolerant, she should eat normally away from home. The behaviour you have described could be gluten intolerance. Then you have a medical reason for her to be off gluten. You might also try taking her off red dye. That has...
  10. Are you excluding any other foods from your diet? If not, could it be a new sensitivity say dairy or corn? Have you started any new supplements or the same ones but from a different company?
  11. I would like to add my voice to the other poster. If he is still having fresh breakouts of DH, he is still eating gluten. It must be the sneaky kind since you haven't narrowed it down yet. Also what made you cut out the other foods? Can you tell a little more about what he eats? I would carefully check every product in the shower as we with DH...
  12. I have been lactose intolerant for many years. The Lactaid does not work for me. I still react, it just takes longer and in the meantime I'm all swollen and very uncomfortable. My daughter takes it occasionally and it seems to work for her. But she does not have much milk. I use soy milk or I have also had almond milk. Both work well for me. Aged...
  13. I am 4mos gluten free with a few setbacks from sauces and dressings. Ive been pretty good about the diet. I have my own utensils, etc. I find that I am still having symptoms of peripheral neuropathy and For me the neuropathy did take months to gradually clear up with setbacks when I was glutened. muscle pain/twitching. Its worse when Im menstrating...
  14. You can but it won't be as much fun right now. I started Atkins last week so most of those snacks are out for awhile. I did have my dip spread on lunchmeat. I made a lemon curd from their recipes. I'm adjusting to stevia as my only sweetener. I can see a big change in my blood sugar which has been a problem. I have another week to go on the first phase...
  15. I will add my two cents to the drop asparteme concensus. It took me a long time to figure out how bad it made me feel. That was the hardest thing so far to give up. Next I'm taking a hard look at sugar, the mother of all addictions for me to break!
  16. I'll be thinking of you. Tell the dr you want a full celiac panel run. Listen to what he says but don't take no for an answer. THe old dr may have seen more celiac children, he just didn't recognize it.
  17. While he's doing all this testing, ask for a celiac panel to be run. Can't hurt.
  18. Poor little guy, but he does need to stay on gluten for his biopsy. Maybe you could call around and ask just how much he needs to eat for the test to be accurate. There is a celiac center in the University of Chicago. They have a web-site too. Then he could just eat that much every day.
  19. Thank you so much ! That is my son, everyone in that thread sounded just like me! My son WILL NOT SIT STILL. Literally, cant. Not for a meal, not at a restuarant, not in church, not to watch tv, play a game, color, NOTHING will hold his attention, and he is constantly moving, MORE then a normal 2 1/2 year old. Something is going on with him. I'm not...
  20. In a restaurant I usually just say I have some serious food allergies... That usually does the trick and nobody needs to know details at that level. People won't think you are a freak. They will think you're excentric, which is gold for an artist! Glad you are doing better. (I had to give up coffee too.)
  21. I don't consider myself a super sensitive, but I am sensitive to skin products. I have to be very careful with shower products as my scalp is very prone to breakouts. That has improved greatly with the removal of gluten from my diet and products. If I don't check sample products, I'll break out again. Oh yeah, this is how it used to be all the time!...
  22. No, I was one that saw quick improvements as time went on. But plenty of people on the forum report feeling worse before better. It seems to be pretty common. Just know that everyone's reaction is different. That's why it is so hard to dx and spot. My dr didn't believe me because I'm overweight and not emaciated. I wouldn't worry about fruit right...
  23. I have had 5 surgeries this year I don't think pursuing the biopsy is something I can do right away... I am going to find the doctor who initially said my SPRUE count was high... I don't know exactly what test he ran that showed him my SPRUE count was high ... will they give me copies of the results? and these tests were done about 5 or 6 years ago and some...
  24. Don't forget that if your blood test is negative, that does not mean you are not sensitive to gluten. There is no test for gluten intolerance besides dietary response and you already have that answer....Positive!!
  25. Wow, before I went gluten-free, I was starving all the time!! My stomach would feel full but I still needed to eat. No wonder, even though I was overweight, I was malnourished. I was taking in the nutrients but most of them were passing through. Now I can be satisfied. But if I'm glutened...Look Out!! I'll eat everything in sight. And I allow myself...
