  1. My best wishes are coming your way for a snappy recovery and a great time at your son's birthday pary!!
  2. Chocolate pound cake? RECIPE!!
  3. If you're still bloating after every meal, you may be eating hidden gluten or be reacting to another allergen like dairy. Keeping a food diary w/symptoms can be helpful nailing it down.
  4. I'm glad you had such a great time! Isn't it great when you know they thought enough of you to go the extra mile?
  5. I haven't had any tests. I dx'd myself through elimination diet. I have to say just listen to your body and instincts. You know what makes you feel bad and no test can dispute it. So go with what your body needs and what you know to be right.
  6. Welcome, you have a great attitude and I know you will have a happy life without gluten!
  7. The antibody test will not likely show positive when you are not eating gluten. Your dr should have known that but many don't. But even if you are eating wheat, false negatives are common. If you choose to test again, you must be actively eating wheat some dr's require 3 months time elapse.
  8. Your dr does not understand celiac disease or its tests. Find another.
  9. No...a wet towel would be bad!! Dry towel with powdered sugar on top.
  10. I just wanted to add about the paleness, one of the surpising side affects of being on the gluten-free diet was that after a few days in, my cheeks had a pink glow that I can't remember ever seeing. That has stuck with me and I am one of the Pale Ones. Also my eyelashes have gotten really long, Weird, huh?
  11. I can't see you having a legal case but I think writing to the AMA would be cleansing and help dispel a little of your anger, writing things out always does that for me. That said, I also think demanding money from your doctor would be fruitless and make you even more angry. I personally would not fuel my anger that way. It's a heavy burden to carry...
  12. Hurray! Testing IBS patients for celiac disease is the most sensible thing I've heard in the past year!
  13. I think you have to take note of what doesn't sit well and avoid it. As you pointed out, rice is good, rice pasta isn't. And that's just how it is. If you surrender the need to know the "why" of it every time, you can ease a lot of stress over your food. I can't eat any fresh dairy yet I'm still ok with aged cheeses and a little butter. I used to be...
  14. Good. Keep us informed, maybe you'll learn something there that one of us needs to know. That oppurtunity thing again.
  15. I was also thinking marshmallow creme for the center or nondairy whipped cream but then you must keep it cold. Hey, would you all let me know how you like it after the hol's? Merry Christmas!
  16. I hear you about Mom's being stubborn. Is it their age or just their generation? She never wants to hear she could do something different to help her health. I don't have a way to get through to her. I just backed off on some things. I don't care to have an argument she won't listen to and at her age, I never know when I say good bye, it could be our...
  17. Pumpkin Roll 3 eggs 1 c. sugar 2/3 c. pumpkin 1 T. lemon juice 3/4 c. mixed gluten-free flour 1/2 t. xantham gum 1/2 t. guar gum 1 t. baking powder 2 t. cinnamon 1/2 t. salt 1/2 t. nutmeg 1 t. ginger Mix all ingredients well. Pour into well greased cookie sheet or jelly roll. Spread to the edges....
  18. All those sugar subs make me sick and give me tremors.
  19. I agree. I eat no natural flavorings, additives or ingredients unless I know exactly what they are. After all wheat, barley, rye and oats are natural, right? You'll find them in drinks, teas, hair products and lotions. They are everywhere!! I will also confirm that the only lunchmeat I eat are Hormel Naturals and they are scrumptious. I've had...
  20. Don't worry about the endoscopy. I had it and my DD had it at age 14 and it was no sweat. I was scared but I didn't even know they had done it or that I had been under. It was over and I was asking when the dr would come!! I didn't have a sore throat, my DD was just a little unsteady on her feet from the drugs but then we went to the mall for lunch!
  21. You say you had allergy testing that pointed to wheat. That would be enough for me! Definately get tested now! What you don't want is the kind of internal damage that may lead to a cancer or neurological disease; something a little more serious than oily stool or gas.
  22. That sounds right to me. How long have you been gluten-free? I'm like you. My tortillas are good but the pasta always sits heavy. I don't remember reading it was from a mixed facilty but it could be. I've never had a problem with chips but others on the forum have. Have you tried different brands of pasta and reacted to it?
  23. Are both of you eating gluten-free replacement products like breads and mixes? What about products produced in mixed line facilities? I had no money for any of those when I started the diet and I think that it was the best thing for me. Now that I'm better off, I see that many of those alternate grain products are tough on me. I really feel best when...
  24. This is what you feel like when you get glutened. If you eat more gluten at Christmas, you'll start the detox all over again. Write down what you're eating and how you feel when you eat it as well as later symptoms, then show it to your gastro when you go. It could help him to see the cause and effect of what you're trying to explain to him.
  25. Did you take her off dairy too? Most of us cannot tolerate dairy for awhile. Has she started any new drugs or supplements during this time? Those can hide gluten and lactose in them. Does she play with crafts or paints and pastes? She must avoid Play Do and any other craft with gluten. Have you been remodeling? Some dry wall and wallpaper paste can...
