  1. I assume you're looking for gluten-free treats?
  2. My dad was a blonde and I'm sure that's where my celiac disease came from. He died at 38 from lung cancer. I'm dark blonde with grey hair in front, I'm 50.
  3. With many in desperate need in our area, our church joined the Angel Food network where anyone can buy a box of restaurant quality food for $30. They can also add to that additional meat or fresh boxes to that if they wish. They can use their food stamps. Our church has an alternative Christmas program and this year we added Angel Food to that so boxes...
  4. Add my prayers and wishes that the baby will lighten Dan's load and he will find the peace he needs.
  5. Hey I think those breads are gross too. I like corn tortillas toasted cripsy then spread on the butter or peanut butter and jelly. I think I will not post my daughter's picture!!
  6. Don't forget toothpaste. Have you been around any remodeling like drywall or wallpapering? Do you work any crafts or art projects? Sometimes things we don't even think about have gluten. I had the worst reaction I've since going gluten-free this summer after having 2 packets of stevia. Stevia is a sweetener that doesn't have gluten but I stupidly didn...
  7. I also knew many years before gluten that I was lactose intolerant. It was described in something I read and I recognized myself there. I backed off little by little. I used to be able to have yogurt and ice milk. Not now but I can have a little butter and aged cheeses. My daughter was dx'd by endoscopy and her intolerance acts very different than mine...
  8. My neuropathy, numbness & tingling has gone away. I had a bad glutening over the summer and my ingrown toenails inflamed and infected again. It had been months since I had trouble with them. Those are now healed. I had one toenail that peaked in the middle till it looked like a claw. It is now a normal rounded shape. I too have found much relief...
  9. Wecome to the boards! You have pretty strong blood tests there, buddy! You've been given good advice here. Feel free to keeep us updated and ask any questions you may come up with. Good luck on any further testing you choose to have.
  10. Robbie, I don't have all the symptoms you describe but I thought it curious you mentioned stiff neck. I've been having a real time with that. It's even disrupting my sleep. Then I realized since I began taking sublingual b12, the neck pain is gone. Yesterday I had a long day. The pain woke me in the night, I didn't sleep much after. This morning...
  11. Just to explain, those who are lactose intolerant also respond differently to lactose. It is the same with those of us that can't tolerate gluten, each individual responds differently. My daughter can use Lactaid with small amounts of dairy. For me, it doesn't help. I still react. Of course, if you're reacting to casein, Shay is correct, only going...
  12. I think this a good reminder for all of us. Another thread was discussing an emergency kit and this shows us why. No matter what climate you live in, circumstances can happen to leave you stranded and without power. We depend so much on our electricity. We had wood stoves for years to back us up but no longer. Need to discuss with DH what we would do...
  13. Thanks to everyone for their replies. It is helpful. Thank you, John. My mom recently ate at the Elkhart one and I think that's where she's taking us. Mishawaka is a bit further away for us. Lucky for me, huh?
  14. I couldn't answer that as I cannot find the bacon in my area. So I went to the Hormel website and it does not list soy in the Hormel Natural Uncured Bacon. Now to find it at one of my stores!
  15. I am sensitive to nitrates also. I buy Hormel naturals. They are not expensive and are delicious. I understand they also make it, but I can't find it here. I buy their ham and pepperoni, both are excellant!
  16. It sounds like your whole family could benefit from a very simple whole foods diet with no gluten and no dairy. You may be able to come back to the dairy or some dairy at a later time. You don't need a dr's permission to try the diet. You know how you and your children feel better than anyone. Trying the diet is not harmful in any way. You will...
  17. For all breading and meatloafs and meatballs, I use instant potato flakes. It makes delicious chicken nuggets and breaded pork chops. Inexpensive and good flavor.
  18. Yes, you do have to worry about a crumb so small you can't see it. If you can read "Living Gluten Free for Dummies". It really explained all those issues to me in plain language that made sense to me. I had my library send for it. Some folks are very sensitive and even breathing flour in the air can set off a reaction. Until you've been on this diet...
  19. Congrats on listening to your mother instincts to help your son. I think sometimes we get hung up on test results when our bodies are screaming at us. Your son is lucky you are looking out for him. There is another thread about breast tenderness where some posters said they increased in bust size after going gluten-free. They feel it was puberty finishing...
  20. My DH still has his bread and crackers and pasta. Other than that our kitchen is gluten-free. I don't eat the breads. Most taste bad to me and are expensive. I can make my own that tastes better but I prefer the corn tortillas used as a sub for any of my bread needs, I like them toasted. At Walmart they are 100 for under $4. I also buy the Deboles pasta...
  21. Don't forget the toaster! Your friend should have a new, dedicated toaster in a neutral location. Then make sure they have their own butter, jelly and peanut butter. It's great you are so aware.
  22. Did you start a new bottle of medication or supplements? Have been close to a remodeling project or craft project? Buy new makeup or personal care products? Did you eat a new gluten-free processed food product? All of these could have hidden gluten or lactose that could be affecting you. Have you changed your coffee or tea? Think back and let us...
  23. Each person reacts differently so welcome to the rollercoaster! I have found this past year that I need to be carefull about all those things. As time goes on, the more sensitive I am. You'll find hidden gluten in things as you go. Just eliminate everything you can knowingly research. If you ask on the forum and say what supplements you like, there...
  24. I'm no expert but that certainly sounds like flu to me. Especially when you mentioned earlier dizzieness. Not that it couldn't be gluten, it's darn hard to tell the difference sometimes. I react just the way you described when that naseous. Are you running a fever? Would a fever be a normal reaction to gluten for you? When I had the flu this fall...
  25. I had a bug this fall that I was sure was a new food sensitivity. No, just the flu. It did linger and act like a glutening though. I just had to eat simply until it passed, about two weeks. I would also think about whether you've started any supplements or meds that are a new package or new to you. I believe someone else found most of their meds...
